Hytale never fails to become relevant for a week and then fall back into irrelevancy for the next year and then become relevant for a week. Can't wait for it to drop though!
I completely forgot about Hytale, it’s taken way too long for anything to come out, but good games take a long amount of time, and I can’t be mad at them for that. I’m happy to hear from them again, thank you Chippy, for covering this!
Yeah I know a lot people are being impatient for this game (me included) , but we forget that good and large-scale games take a long time to develop, it's just that Hytale was revealed too early in my opinion.
I feel like people also forget that hytale hasn't taken player's money yet. Hytale isn't a Kickstarter or have taken preorders yet, so people getting upset over how long it's taken seems weird to me.
Not sure I'd call it being upset, more like a mild frustration (aka Silksong syndrome). I was super excited I first signed up for the beta in 2019 (apparently they removed those sign-ups at some point so I stopped just getting their newsletters and forgot about the game). Too bad as doubt I'd get in signing up for it now. It has kinda dragged on so long now it's hard to keep the interest going - at this rate I'm almost expecting to see ES6 come out first. At least we have Vintage Story to keep us busy in the meantime.
I love that people keep putting it into different perspectives to their own lives, but guys it’s 6 years. That’s not even that long to be waiting for lots of games. ES6, GTA 6, Silk Song (probably), Half life 3, Left for dead 3, blood bourne 2 and plenty more I’m sure. Ofc I named some things that may not ever come out but I imagine will eventually

With external playtesting in mid-2025, it’s reasonable to assume the first beta could be by late 2025 to mid-2026. But as for the final version, only time will tell. I’ve waited so long at this point that I can wait a couple more years.

Makes sense they are taking their time, if they actually want to compete with minecraft it needs to be so good people are willing to make the move. Because even if it was "good" players are attached to what they already have in minecraft.
This really is the year of the pixel games - Starbound Xbox release, Planet Centauri 1.0, Core Keeper 1.0, Kyora trailer (looks AMAZING), Terraria 1.4.5/1.5 news galore, plenty of Minecraft updates as usual, and even Hytale!

Okay so from what I've seen Vintage Story and minecraft are very different. Honestly much more similar to a game like valheim. The game doesn't seem to have any sort of redstone/electricity type system, very average multiplayer and it's a bit too realistic. Feels like a real life simulator instead of being set in its own universe. The art is also just not unique at all. I personally find the game very lifeless and dull but to each their own.
Well both Vintage story and Hytale have been in development for 6 years. However(From my knowledge), vintage story didn't get a full remake like hytale. If they hadn't done so we probably would be playing hytale right now. But I'd rather let them make something great than something good.
I think people literally did forget. Also, people keep acting like the very low amounts of communication is a bad thing, but I think it's pretty smart. the game is gonna take another 2 or 3 years before it actually comes out, so no need to drum up more hype (especially with what this game's hype has gone through) right now.
Most do not understand why this game is taking a very long time. Also a developer said that because of the work they have done instead of getting hytale we are pretty much getting hytale 2 (if that makes sense).
While it is a bummer that the game takes so long to get going and the blog posts are few and far between, I still appreciate the work being done. It's shaping up to be a marvel of a game. Also I don't get the silksong comparisons that have been thrown around for ages. Team Cherry is just straight up silent, ehre we get consistent updates on what's happening

Chippy you should also look at Vintage story - hardcore survival experience developed by a ex-hytale dev. Unlike hytale its actually released as a early access version of vintage story's website
I will play it, and probably enjoy it, but the simple fact is that all the ideas I had for this game are so old that they're now forgotten. I'll have to invent a whole new set of reasons to be excited about block games, but I don't want to because I have seen enough block games before. CubeWorld, Starbound, this genre is marred by too many disappointments.

I remember when minecraft was dormant and this game was going to be "the minecraft killer" or "minecraft 2" but now minecraft's rolling again and doing better than ever content-wise and plenty of other survival sandboxes exist catered to different people without relying or piggybacking off of minecraft's cube-y aesthetic
Hytale themselves said they had no intention of dethroning Minecraft, since it's going for more of a Roblox thing where it's more of a platform than just a game, even though it does have a story mode.
Minecraft got scared straight by the Hytale trailer. Originally they were complacent and did 1 block updates. The fear about Hytale forced them to update their game and try harder.

We Modders still responsible for holding and updating games y'all grew up with to this day. Such a game like this shouldn't take 6 years with such a team and they got 10 times more support from publishers than compared to Mojangs start.
So it took from 2018+ to the end of 2025 to finish the base work on the engine... There's no chance this game is close to done by 2027. It might be good in 2030 or so.

its not just a survival sandbox, it looks like its also trying to be a rpg. but its possible that it doesnt last more than a month after release
