I've been following your journey for a while now and what a surprise seeing you reading Machado and painting one of our streets. I'm spanish and Machado is one of my favourite poets so far, his work is amazing but his story is really sad, he died in exile in France after the civil war (btw his own brother was on the other side of the war, with the fascists that won the war and founded a dictatorship that lasted over 40 years). I'm curious to see what streets did you use, Machado was from Sevilla, in the south, and there the streets are so beautifully covered with tiles and lots of pots with flowers, it's a really cool reference for painting, if you want to search through google or pinterest.😊 Also, I've been painting and writing all my life, some years ago a friend who was studying arts in college ask me to collaborate so she made a watercolor painting out of one of my short stories. I loved the result. It's amazing and super interesting to experiment with different types of art: making a painting out of a song, writing a short story out of a photo... I tend to do that a lot and it expanses a lot your creativity and pushes you out of your confort zone. Thank you so much for this video, I really enjoyed it (as always), lots of love from Spain darling, keep going 💜💜 (sorry for the english tho 😅)
Tammy!!! oh my goodness 💓 first of all, thank you so much for sharing and taking the time out to send this wonderful message. It's insane reading Machado's poetry knowing his story. There's a huge section of the book that has all of his poems that were about the war. It's so sad and also amazing how he was able to write during war! It's incredible. YES!! I made sure the reference photo I picked was from Sevilla, Spain! 😁More specifically, I believe it's part of Old Town! But I'm not 100% sure about that. I think it's so wonderful that you have been painting and writing your entire life!!! These two forms of art matched together is magicccc ✨ Thank you again for this beautiful message and for being here 💓 I'm so happy to hear from you! Lots of love x p.s. your English is perfect 😉
I been trying to find artists who work from poetry like myself, I source my poems from emerging poets, love this work and I’m so happy to see others embracing this historical practice.
♥️👏, yeah I like to write about my ideas as in a written sketch before drawing the actual sketch or the painting, it feels easier to change words than doing another sketch or make changes to it, plus i can also write about stuff that i want to convey like feelings and use examples, also redirect me to pictures or stuff similar to what my idea is and etc
Hello once again Ana, 🖐️hope you are keeping well and Thank you for this wonderful presentation about painting a subject from poetry. firstly, I would like to say good evening to you there in New York. Here in the UK it is approximately 11:40 pm. and I just noticed your latest posting as I was browsing 👀 through RUclips on my phone. Secondly, to answer your question about whether or not I have painted something inspired by a story or a poem, I have to say the answer is NO!!! However, as a follower of your RUclips platform, I thought your idea for painting a scene from such poetic works was a very interesting one and the wonderful scene that followed on from this inspirational subject was really lovely to watch. As Someone who likes to paint a wide range of works of art, painting street scenes is particularly fascinating for me too. so Naturally, I really enjoyed your street scene creation and I loved the way you try to keep things simple and your use of colour so light and refreshing 💖 👍. I cannot help but wonder what subject will inspire you next. like all your followers, we will just have to wait and see. looking forward to chatting again. Take care now. x
Hello Paul! Happy to hear from you again. I'm glad you found this interesting and inspiring! I'm very happy to hear that ✨ Thank you so much for this lovely message & I'm glad you enjoyed the video! See you in the next one 😊 Take care!
The poem you read by Machado sounded beautiful! I am definitely going to look him up. Your painting depicts the poem so well. I personally love drawing inspiration from poetry and music for my paintings. I write poetry and had a few published when I was in college so I like to incorporate my poetry, poetry from my favorite poets and art together.
Hannah, this is absolutely wonderful!!! 💓 I hope you enjoy reading Machado's poetry! I used to write some poetry and thought about connecting the two, we shall see hehe. I'm so curious about your experience with this 😊 I bet it's been amazing. Congrats on the publications!! That's awesome :) thank you so much for sharing this with me 🌟
@@AnaCornejoArt you definitely should! I think it really intertwines an artist's essence and story into the artwork! 💖 And thank you! It was definitely an adventure and I continue to write every now and then. 😊
I have never really thought about writing about paintings......but I can already know it is something that I would thoroughly enjoy doing.....may be I will jot down the emotions in my journal that I couldn't express through painting and vice-versa!!! It's amazing Ana, thanks for sharing 🌈❤️❤️
I love this idea of painting from a collection of poems you love! I will look up Machado! As for your question, I have not journaled about my paintings after the fact. It is usually the other way around, writing and reflection prompt ideas for paintings. Also, in the spectrum of painting, my creations are more on the abstract or illustrative side and less technical or realistic I would say, so writing after the fact had not occurred to me. But there have still been times what was in my head did not translate to the page, so perhaps journaling about it will help connect my vision to the paper / canvas. I will give it a try! Happy painting. ❤
Jill! I hope you like Machado :) Yes journaling before is also amazing! It sets you up for the painting. And exactly! if you weren't about to translate what you had wanted, maybe journaling about why you think that was the case or maybe enjoying the process so much of a painting make you want to write about the feeling ☺️ Happy painting 💕 I hope you find some magic in your journals
Just loved the idea. Painting abstract things is challenging but that’s kind of the goal. To be able to express emotions in paintings. Also, thanks for the idea about journaling about my works, I will start one. 😊🌸💕
I think write better than I paint but I just finished a larger mixed media work of a dragon hiding in a garden… I have published (with my grandson, Harry Miller, as co-author) 2 books on Amazon about a 13 yr old boy and his 3 dragon shifting uncles. I did this larger artwork and instead of cutting the board down, I wrote a poem and made it look old then glued it on the board. I liked it and was so excited to see your art- which is AMAZING! - inspired by a poem.😊
I like your picture, and your addition of flowers. A lot of times, my pictures start with an subject idea and a basic story of the moment the picture will capture, before I have much of a visual idea of what it will look like. I write these stories down and look back to the list from time to time for inspiration.
I loved this so much, such a beautiful idea, I usually do it the opposite way, write a poem about or inspired by artwork, so switching it up would be interesting! Thankyou for sharing 💛
Machado es uno de mis poetas preferidos. A mí lo que me sucede es que pinto algo y, sobre la marcha, se me ocurre una historia. Y me gusta. Pero, como también escribo poemas, voy a probar tu experiencia, es muy interesante. Gracias desde España.
Me está encantando leer a Machado! Sí, creo que sería muy especial que pintes una imagen que venga desde tu propio poema. A ver cómo te sale! Me mantienes al tanto de todo 💕

I have never imagined using a poem as a basis for a painting! And writing about it. Thank you so much, Ana! I'm going to try it! ---Les Thompson
