so helpful :) but I can never understand...how do we know what the line of symmetry is?? when you are reflecting a line segment why is it -2??? why isn't the y axis or x axis the line of symmetry??thanks
+superchick1972 Thanks for the comment! The line of symmetry depends on the figure (how it is oriented and where it lies on the coordinate plane). If you can imagine the letter "A" with the top point touching the y-axis, then it's line of symmetry would be the vertical line x=0 (which is the y-axis). But, if you shifted it two units to the left (so that the x-coordinate of the point is -2), then the axis of symmetry would be x=-2. Does that help?
I'm so confused on how graphing a shape with a change in the y axis. Like, you have to reflect a triangle, but y=5, so you move *y* axis over five from where it is, then graph the triangle points.
Mines y=-5 and you have to find the point which has a -5 y and use that as reference. Then you just figure out which point it is and make the shape (Is this enough proof like idk the actual terminology stg if my teacher says NoPe for this test lol)
i dont know how to do this AT ALL and so i copied my friends homework and my teacher checked it and now she thinks im a master at it when in reality i know nothing about it so here i am about to watch how to do it
