    The vanity and narcissism of the pseudo cyclist and pseudo journalist. How else to account for criticism like, "I felt like I was on the bike, not in it," "the suspension is kinda gushy," and more cringe-worthy statements in the video that these folks wisely did not repeat in type on their website, of an EWS-winning machine, and, indeed, as Singletracks accurately put it, one of the "Winningest Enduro Bikes ... Over the Past 4 EWS Seasons." Embarassing.

    I have the expert version of this bike and on my first ride realized that it is far better than this review would have lead me to believe. While it is a big bike it can still cook up climbs, granted it still bobs a bit, but even on a trail that has some very XC focused segments it pedaled well, both on flats and uphill. It also feels, at least how I set mine up, fairly nimble on the descents. I was able to pick my lines quickly and hold them even over wet, slick roots and rocks. It even jumps fairly well. I was able to hold my own in descents and keep up with my friend on a 2018 YT Jeffsy 27.5 (sporting a 160mm Zeb Ultimate and Super Deluxe Ultimate) on even the worst climbs on my local trail system. Plus the expert build comes with Sram Code R brakes which are fantastic for a bike as heavy and capable as this. Not to mention that when you pump on this thing it gains speed nearly instantly. I’d say it’s as good as the $7500 Pivot Switchblade I had ridden in Asheville off of my first impressions alone. Sure the pivot was a bit better on the way up but as soon as you get pointed downhill the GT would run circles around it. Both feel confident descending but the GT easily has a leg up.

    I think GT is too focused on using the same front triangle across the force and sensor lineups rather than giving each one it's own. I have a force from 2019 and it feels very similar to a sensor when going downhill. I'd like to see them make specific triangles for both so they optimize the geo in each bike

    My first point is: If it's good enough for Martyn Maes, it's good enough for you.
    Secondly: Im hearing "buy the cheaper build because the frame is the same and you can upgrade the components later."

      The reason Martyn Maes is doing well is that he's a great rider. I'm sure he'd be fast on any bike out there. They tried the bike not you, so how do you know what it feels like? Secondly, they're comparing it to a plethora of other bikes which are better.

      It’s a great bike, mine has a DPX2 and a Fox 38 and it’s a monster. Decent on climbs despite the weight, kills it on descents.

    So I just ordered a 21. Very excited never rode full suspension on a mtb. But grew up racing moto, similar?

    Not to mention that the cheapest version has really sick 4 pot tektro g spec clones which are unreal for the price

    4700 hell no. you can get a ripmo af for 3000 and you dont have to do anything to it.

      @Mediarahan003 5 лет назад

      You can get the SLX build with carbon wheels for that.

      @@Mediarahan003 exactly. its like gt doesn't pay attention to the market.whos gonna fork out that kinda money when they can get a bike thats better speced and does everything better? it really doesn't get much better than the dw link

    • @grantrogers1858
      @grantrogers1858 5 лет назад +3

      For the record, gt's elite build is $2700. Bomber z1, dpx 2, throw out the Sram sx garbage and put 350 into a 11sp xt drivetrain and you have a hell of a competitor to the ripmo af

    • @jmard24
      @jmard24 5 лет назад

      @@grantrogers1858 how much will that cost you in the end. for 4700 you can get a ripmo af with carbon wheels and a slx 12spd drivetrain. plus it has the dw link which is one of if not the best suspension platform

    • @grantrogers1858
      @grantrogers1858 4 года назад

      @@jmard24 not denying the ripmo af's value, but dw isn't the be all. Gt sounds like small bump compliance will be much better and not pedal as well. All said and done, with carbon wheels and slx12 speed it will be close

      I have the 2021 Force Expert. It rips. I think I just got lucky that it suits my riding style fairly well. Plus it was $3500 and the only weak point of the spec was the NX Eagle drivetrain, needed better chain tension.
