You have nice control of the upper register. If you haven't done so already, could you share maybe in a short video what practice routines. exercises, or methods that you feel were most helpful in developing your chops.

Thanks! I could do that at some point, but I think there's better resources online for specific exercises or routines. I can be a bit scattershot.
THIS was practically perfect in every way- I think you've found a nitch with most of the Mancini pieces and for that matter, I'd love to see you try the Hawaii 5-0 theme. (which in this style is what you're likely to be asked for in terms of auditions).

@@thetrumpetman Even if you don't do it for a video- it's something to add to the repertoire because of the fact that if you ever do a professional audition outside the classical setting- it's one of the big audition pieces of sorts.

The trumpet playing here is gorgeous. I do wonder about notating all those sharps followed by naturals, though, especially when in a flat key. I know that I as a sight reader would prefer those be written with flats.
That said, I don't know what chords are in the accompaniment.
Thank you! I'm guessing it's because of the chords in the accompaniment. It's the key of G Minor, so I'm just assuming that the 7th note in the scale made more sense to adjust rather than the 1st note in the scale.

Glad you took the comment well and since you asked I' ll give you my opinion. I' m in no way denigrating you. It takes guts and effort to post your playing. Here's my constructive criticism. Tone - too thin and raw. Intonation - way out in many places. Accents - way overdone. I suspect you' re using a small shallow mouthpiece with a tight horn. I' d go bigger to get a better sound. This is from an old guy who's been playing 60 years and still playing big band lead. Hope this helps. Good luck!
@@jamescherney5874 Thanks! Wow, big band lead? I can already tell you have quite the chops! I used a Bach 3C megatone mouthpiece and a Getzen 700 Eterna II trumpet. I'm guessing the mic I used as well as the reverb effect might've contributed to it sounding thin and raw. I typically hear the opposite in regards to my sound, in general. I definitely need work beefing up the upper register. I've got nothing to blame though in regards to over accenting and intonation issues. I'll just have to be more careful.
