      A ball in movement got pressurised air infront and no pressurised air behind. Which means a curved ball spins on the pressurised air infront. The 3D printed ball got holes and the air that normally is pressed infront now goes through the ball which equalises the spin against air both infront and behind the ball which means that a ball with holes would be almost impossible to curve. (Remember that the backside of the ball spins the opposite way).

      My fav part was the cardboard table actually, especially the human smuggling 😂

  • @GeoGuessrMoose
    @GeoGuessrMoose 4 months ago +1858

    The reason the 3D printed ball doesn't curve is simply that the air can go through the holes. In a normal table tennis ball, the spin causes a pressure difference on each side of the ball because the air is "pushed" by the spin. This causes the ball to curve into the low pressure side. This is called the Magnus force (actually discovered by Newton while watching tennis at Cambridge University but he has enough things named after him). A ball with holes cannot create the pressure difference. (This is a bit vague but it's "fine")

      You can definitely curve a floorball ball which has holes. Maybe less of the surface area than these ones, but still quite a lot. I don't feel this is the full answer.

    You have to expose the glow-in-the-dark balls to light first for them to glow, instead of taking them out of the box in darkness.

      @martinpenwald9475 my glow in the dark tape glows after being under the light of a basic tall lamp with my blinds closed.
      Is the little sunlight that gets through the blinds enough to make em glow? Or is my lamp possibly fancier than I thought?

    From what I can remember, I was talking to a coach from Italy and he told me about the pressure racket case that it should be used with old rubbers that lost a bit of their jump, bc the air bubbles in the sponge itself get squished often, in time the sponge loses its quality, not really sure it works bc I perssonally did not test it , but that should be it's use. With brand new rubbers it can't really make a differance

    • @filiplou74
      @filiplou74 4 months ago +11

      If that’s true then a vacuum chamber would be better right?

    • @Benny_-pb5lb
      @Benny_-pb5lb 4 months ago +8

      @filiplou74It kinda is a vacuum chamber

    • @SirTrainsalot
      @SirTrainsalot 4 months ago +42

      @filiplou74 the theory is that the sponge's air bubbles deflate over time and the air pressure fills them up again. Especially for hard, dense rubbers it should work better.

    • @albertogomez-casado5527
      @albertogomez-casado5527 4 months ago +46

      @filiplou74inside the vacuum chamber the sponge would swell, but when you open it it would collapse to even less "foaminess" than before, so no, the vacuum is the opposite of what you want.

      It's not what I'd call his normal voice, he's using the vocal fry register there, (like Scar from the original Lion King).
      What's quite weird is that, unlike English where it's pretty much a deliberate addition of flare or "showing attitude", the vocal fry register is used for certain things in Finnish speech by almost every speaker.

  • @imperialmarchinhumanbowels5726

    I just realize that even though these three have so much chemistry together and are speaking so naturally to each other in English. They obviously immediately start speaking Finnish to one another when the camera stops rolling. They obviously sound nothing like this together normally but they make this talking English to each other look so natural that one forgets they're obviously speaking in English for the viewer and they can probably communicate far more naturally with each other in Finnish.

I managed to create an extreme backspin return as a beginner and impressed my classmates around me, as I did not know how to play Ping Pong. I'm from China by the way! I thought it was going to be difficult but it turned out surprisingly well, it's similar to how I use my wrist to generate power for badminton and also do a drop shot! I can only do right hand for badminton but for ping pong I could use both left and right, and I prefer left hand more because I feel that it hits faster, the reaction time is faster compared to my right hand even tho my right hand is my main hand and the stronger hand

    I can come up with two reason's the 3d printed ball doesn't curve. First is indeed airflow, a normal ball with smooth and continuous surface generates quite a bit of force towards the spin direction through the Magnus effect when it spins, but that ball with a surface that's mostly holes doesn't do it nearly as much. And because it's heavier, it would be curving a lot less even if did generate a similar amount of force through the Magnus effect, because acceleration depends on both mass and force.

    The reason why the 3d printed ball doesn’t spin is because there is holes inside of it, letting air go through it, not
    letting air resistance and surface area spin it. Unlike the ping pong balls, they are light, and have no holes.

    You should try some insane spins with the racket that was in the pressure tuner. Maybe there you could see some difference.
