i’m going into children’s next year hopefully, and thankfully in scotland we get a 10k bursary and university is free here so luckily i won’t need to worry about the money aspect. thanks so much for this video it gave me an insight x
I'm loving all your videos Claire! I've just started my access course into nursing and will Hopefully start my degree next September. I'll be 39 when I start and I'm finding your videos so informative so thank you!! 😊 X
It's honestly so frustrating that the nursing profession isn't respected in the UK. You go to other regions of the world and you'll find way cheaper tuition fees and science-intensive courses :(
Money is difficult and even if you have a job the assignments and exams are difficult - finished my degree this year this summer, awaiting PIN. and yes their is a high dropout rate although I don't know the exact numbers...mentors, most of them, are a pain in the backside-we were NOT told this. Time management and I mean advanced time management I.e. plan every hour is necessary!! I thought I had excellent time management skills til I became a trainee nurse...good luck...
I start Adult nursing in a few weeks and I am bricking ittt... feel sooo nervous but hearing your side of things has made me feel at ease. Fingers crosssedd im so scareddd lol. Thankyou❤
I start my 2 year masters in nursing in January, I already work for the nhs as a senior nursing assistant so I already got some understanding but watching your video has helped me understand more and am more excited to get started now thank you x
hi nikkie did you start your post grad after your associate nursing degree? I am 26 and thinking of a career change , I was wondering if I could do post grad after associate nursing degree
thank you for the video, I am a second year children nursing student from London, england however we do not all get travel reimbursement. There are strict rules such as over 1.5 hours we get a certain amount back but we have to provide full receipts and timelines. I thought it would be hands to let people know the we don't always get the money. I have never been reimbursed for my fares I travel an hour to the hospital and back in central London.
Thank you so much for doing this video😊 I'm starting my 4 year degree in psych nursing here in Ireland and I've been worried that I'm not up to it, that it will be too hard, so really appreciate your insight! 🤗💗
I'm just starting to be a nurse student this year and many things happened that make wanna give up but thanks to your video that make me wanna give it a try again!
There will be times where you want to give up during your nursing training! If nursing is what you truly want to do you will find a way, trust me, best of luck xx
@@clairequinn2428 thank you so much!!! I'm Thai and I'm studying in Thailand but I always wanted to work in UK and apparently I'm studying nursing here but I'm trying to find everything that I have to do if I wanna work there I don't really care about the salary if nurse is low pay job coz I just wanna help people so maybe if you will make a video again could you talk about what I have to prepare or to do if I wanna work as a nurse there?
I saw this video on my recommended, and am so glad. I am starting nursing school in April and I am carrying foward your positivity with me. I've always wanted to be a nurse.
There are a lot of placements but nhs pays minimum £5k grant to all students on chartered nurse courses, and more for certain other courses/situations.. basically half tuition fees. Also, don’t do the course if it doesn’t work for you
Ya I agree with you I am a nursing student in India currently in my last year and even we are facing the same situation even though we work so hard much more than the staff nurses we don't get paid nor we get to work peacefully these years of nursing are like the hardest time I've felt... And after completion of my last year I will have to study more 2 years for my bachelor's 😞😩
I am starting nursing school tomorrow! Watching your videos has really settled some of the nerves I have...Im worried about the university/home life balance...did you find this difficult in the beginning? X
Awww I hope your first day went really well! thank you so much for your kind words!! Its a bit difficult at the start just because its so new and a little hard to manage sometimes but don't worry if it is like that.. its normal and it will get better xx
Ty for video I’m studying a levels currently don’t no what to do want to work with People as I’m people’s person considering nursing but I hear a lot of bad story’s
Hey, it sucks you don’t get any payment towards your travel expenses. I’m a student nurse in Scotland and our bursary includes £5 towards travel. Over and above that you can ask for financial support, but there’s a limit. I’ll be paying approximately £270 a month for buses and trains, etc. and I won’t get anything towards that, I’m just expected to move closer to my placements, which isn’t an option for me.
I should say that we get a generous bursary but that it’s not really enough for rent/bills/expenses and the commute. If I’m lucky enough to just be on three days placement a week, I’ll be able to get a job on my days off to supplement the bursary. It’s worth it for sure if you can iron out the obstacles that are thrown up by unpaid placement though.
I’m from Ireland and was really considering doing nursing. I’m just afraid of not getting the points in the lc and I’m not to keen on doing a plc, as I will be 20, starting college then. So maybe Moving to England to do it, I dunno if there any sort of grants or a way that is best way finically to do it either or what would anyone recommend ?
Could you give me some examples of student nurse led improvement projects. For example music therapy for dementia patients. I have an assignment on nurse innovation.
Hello, I'm afraid I don't know very much about student nurse-led projects but I have heard of music therapy in dementia patients before and it has some research to back up the innovative x
Hiya, I currently just finished my degree in Belfast and | am finally applying for nursing this 2020 September or 2021 hopefully. I missed the January deadline for UCAS as I was in uni - but I was not really aware of it. Can I ask, what typical questions do they ask in the interview, and was it hard? Which uni did you go to for nursing? Also, do they kick a student out of the course if they failed their exams and did not turn up on placement/ bad attendance??
Hey! I'm assuming your applying for Queens? I'm starting in September to do nursing. Looking back the interview was a breeze (didn't feel like it at the time tho 😂) the queens interview is just basically who you are as a person, have you looked into the MMIs? Its basically how you would handle a real life situation e.g comforting someone who has been bereaved. The staff are all lovely and genuinely want you to do well. I can't really answer any more of your questions but if you wanna chat let me know 🙂
Georgia Hawthorne fabbbb! That comment was prob like a month ago or something! Haha. I had my interviews in June there for England and not for Queens! So I already have the idea what will be the questions are! NMC conduct, Nursing Times and RCN really helped a lot for interviews! (I recommend those sites to anyone who is going for Nursing to England or Northern Ireland) I have deferred myself for next year but I think I’m gonna apply as well to Queens for 2021 because QUB are full for this Sept/Feb intake! 😊 but thank you tho.
Claire Quinn - Nursing Secrets ahhhh good luck. The end is in sight :) I don’t get travel expenses either unfortunately. My next placement is a good one, so excited about that 😁
I start nursing in September and I’m terrified. I’m not looking forward to the placements due to like my physical health and also I’m terrible at exams. I just hope it’s not as bad as everyone else seems it to be like you said xx
