  • Hey Guys! We live in a society that is steadily moving towards being more modern and liberal but somehow we are still not vocal enough when it comes to issues such as these! Knowledge about contraception is of utmost importance for every human so Mom & Me wanted to do our bit to make this as normal a conversation as possible! My mom is a well-known gynaecologist, Dr Anjali Kumar. We never have any awkward conversations when it comes to sex, contraception pills, menstrual cycle or anything for that matter and we firmly believe that neither should you. We have talked about the Myths around contraception that many young people have these days. Always remember, google is not always the answer. We discussed the best method of contraception, success and failure rate of contraception, correct method of taking a pill, side effects of contraceptive pills and a lot more. So don't be shy, go on, talk!

      Unfortunately no contraception is a 100% method for preventing pregnancy. E.g. condoms are only 97% and pills are 99.99% effective. There's always a risk of becoming pregnant therefore in some cases its not necessarily a choice.

It is very sensible of you to make such a video because contraception is not something that should be looked at casually. It should be consulted by medical professionals. Thank you so much on behalf of the med community. Also, loved your mom's personality. She is a perfect gynaecologist. I'm also interested in the subject. I've always wanted to become one. Please make a video on endometriosis. I've heard that 10% of women suffer from endometriosis, that is a huge number! A video on what to expect if you have endometriosis, how to handle it and how to live with it would be extremely helpful.
    ETA - For those who don't know about endometriosis, it is one of the leading causes for extremely painful periods and could cause infertility. It cannot be diagnosed very easily but is very common. At least one in ten women suffer from endometriosis.

    Heyy! Great idea to create awareness! I’d like to further emphasise the importance of side effects of OC pills. Continuous use of OC pills can result in long term complications. The bleeding that one gets after 21 days of taking the tablets is called withdrawal bleed and is not normal physiology. Also, not all OC pills are taken the same way! It is important to to visit a gynaecologist before taking any medications. The safest mode of contraception depends on individuals considering what phase of live one is in. A combination of methods is recommended. (Doctors are required to maintain patient-doctor confidentiality). Sejal, thank you initiating this discussion on such taboos topics openly! :D

    i feel heart was in the right place for this video, India needs to openly talk about birth control. Those who need this information the most might not be fluent enough in English to get and understand every point and message in this video.

    Wow. Thanks a ton Sejal! From what I've heard, I feel there's normally some stigma attached to going to the gynaecologist, unless you're married and want to have a baby. Even if there's no stigma, a layperson wouldn't normally think of going to a gynaecologist, for something like a routine checkup, like you'd normally go to the dentist. At least the latter is true in my case. I think this series is much needed and a great eye opener. This video opened my eyes to the fact that I was wrong about me having a vast knowledge of the subject, mainly because I refer to Google, which I get now is a wrong decision. I think this series is going to be one of the best ones any RUclipsr could come up with and I wish you luck. 😘😘
    Request: Could y'all talk about how a girl should go about in relation to the concept of a routine checkup with a gynaecologist? Example: What questions to ask, are there any dumb questions, what are the red flags to look out for during a visit to the gynaecologist (some gynaecologists are known to be judgemental about a patient's choices, and are more concerned with giving unsolicited advice, rather than medical advice. Where should they draw a line? When should the patient decide that they don't have to take it?)
    I realize the list is long 🙈

      pcod is polycystic ovarian disease in which no of cysts in ovaries which is usually benign.. girls with pcod can conceive with treatment which is usually with medical treatment nad in some cases puncturing of cysts is to be done ... the most effective non medical method is to reduce weight.. many women conceive after reducing weight..

      Shweta Borgaonkar its completely safe. M using it frm years. Also m mother of 1 year old. So no problem.

    • @pavniagrawal20
      @pavniagrawal20 7 лет назад +12

      Menstrual cups are absolutely safe, but we don't recommend it in India for the reason being bad hygiene practices and less availability of places to wash and reuse the cup.
      And there is less knowledge available about correct methods to use it and hence the doctors don't recommend it. Anything inserted inside the vagina could be a source of infection if not used properly.
      - I am a medical student.

    I've heard that after abortion or contraceptive pills, many women lose the menstruation forever and aren't able to conceive. Any truth to that?

      @jagajayadas20 7 лет назад +4

      Vaishnavi Chavan no it isn't true..! OC pills are the best method of contraception with very less failure rate and are actually good for regulating your fertility.
      Talk to your gynecologist to clear your queries.

    • @ananyagupta3917
      @ananyagupta3917 7 лет назад +5

      no, they are also used to make your period more regular if needed cause they fix any hormonal imbalance you might have.

      Oral contraceptive is also prescribed to people suffering from acute acne, menorhaggia and irregular periods. It doesn't affect your fertility in any way. :)

    Hey, this is fantastic awareness. Pls do touch on discipline on multi-partner, and infectious diseases. I read in a article, most of the housewives are the innocent victims and they suffer without realizing the facts....

    • @morningglory4593
      @morningglory4593 7 лет назад

      Prabhu198 If housewives are innocent victims then their husbands must be having unprotected sex on multiple partners. Very sad. Better to divorce than live with such men.

    • @Prabhu198
      @Prabhu198 7 лет назад

      Mystery Mami True mami, that's one of the reason men fear n suppress alot b4 m... heard in sm communities/ countries b4 marriage both men n women have to do medical checks, then sexual n spiritual counselling...then they decided to marry or not...if this practice comes to India... hardly many may not marry...

    • @Prabhu198
      @Prabhu198 7 лет назад

      Mystery Mami , unprotected sex is not the only way of getting infection or spreading it...kissing with infected lips will also spread it to others esp.children...

    • @Prabhu198
      @Prabhu198 7 лет назад

      Mystery Mami needs for papsmear, ovarian or breast cancer is also bcos of such...so discipline is the only way to stay away from such nonsense life....I'm sorry to say, dressing sense of women and flirting sense of men have to be moderated.... however all what I expressed is my opinion based on articles I read, some experts words...considering the mental trauma n emotions which is 1000 times larger than these diseases and there are 100 other medical reasoning for similar ailments...pls do not count my comments very seriously... always doctor is the best person to say anything..I'm sorry I've said anything wrong or hurting anyone.

    • @morningglory4593
      @morningglory4593 7 лет назад

      Prabhu198 you are very sensible. I wish more men and women in india had the same mindset.
