I've had my own FX4 XLT with 4k tow for almost a month now. Terrific all around mini truck! Very pleased with it.
I ordered 4k but left off FX4 on purpose. This is a softroader to get you to the trailhead which AWD can easily handle. I did not want to lose eco and sport for 2 off road modes I would rarely use. Sport on this 250hp engine makes a big difference in passing power and overall fun.
Yeah, I get that. I almost did the same. But you lose out on the good digital instrument cluster.
@@gwcrispi it’s standard on the lariat even without the FX4 so you still get it
I did the same thing, I wanted to keep Sport mode. It would be nice to add the recovery hooks separate.
Little maverick has front tow hooks but the 2022 giant 4x4 Tundra doesn’t, even in the TRD PRO trim 😂
Because Fords need to be towed, Toyota’s don’t. 🤣
@@craighatch3221 that’s the kind of attitude that gets you stuck loll
@@legostarwarsrulez what’s really funny is, I’m ordering me a ford maverick
The one without the off-road package, towing package and AWD is just a truck shaped hybrid car. Basically a hybrid Ranchero.
That is the exact market for that platform. High mpg with payload capacity and much more comfortable in day to day driving. They are going sell a zillion of these if they can keep the reliability up. As we are seeing $4+ per gallon and other inflation take hold trips in this to grab some mulch, plywood, ect means you can afford a sandwich for the ride home.
There are two things I want, front tow (recovery) hooks and the 4K tow package. I don’t necessarily need the FX-4 package, but the only way I can get the front recovery hooks is with the FX-4 package. Unfortunately, you cannot add the tow hooks to the Non FX-4 trucks because ford welds in some additional sheet structure body reinforcement supports in the front end to support the tow hooks which is not available on any other model configuration.
My initial go to Maverick was the XLT FX-4 truck with the max tow package, but I am more and more being attracted to the Maverick XL Hybrid with the $100 2,000 pound tow hitch and 4pin wire harness simply because the performance of the hybrid is overall much better than I expected and the base XL is such a good value.
I like how you do your review in the same place i buy my crack
While you were in the FX4 you should have switched the info screen on the dash to display how the power was being used between the F & R wheels. That could have been useful live data for your discussion! RH switch cluster on the wheel. Toggle the OK switch to switch windows on the dash.
The wheels are worth th extra money alone. That said, I'm waiting for the Maverick Tremor.
They add an AWD FX4 to the 2.5L Hybrid and that would be my next vehicle 100%. Guess there's always hope for the 2024 model..
If I go with the Maverick I'm definitely getting fx4. My family owns a vacation home where you have to drive through a shallow river to get to the house. And I'm not sure if I'll go with Maverick or Ranger
Damn.. the 2022 Toyota Tundra Trd package doesn’t even come with front tow hooks. Nice little “truck”
Charlie, When the weather is right, we need to see a boat ramp tow test. Tow rating means very little when the power is going to the wrong wheels.
Sounds good! Unfortunately we’ll probably only be able to test using our AWD Ecoboost. But if we get another FWD we’ll try it. The yellow loaner we had didn’t have a hitch receiver

@@rightlanehog3151 Just ran the Lexus ES300h. Not a great result. 35 mpg. I wonder how much the 20 degree temps affected it.
@@DailyMotor Is this reply under the correct video? BTW I wish it was a toasty 20 degrees here.
@@rightlanehog3151 Yeah, gotta catch you where I can :P
The only drive mode that really matters in the ecoboost is sport and that’s if your doing a roll race if your going from a dig just turn auto start stop off and stay in normal. Eco just makes your throttle response super slow and your cruise speed fluctuates everywhere
That’s not off road lol. That’s a wet dirt trail. Drive modes make. HUGE differences in actual off road situations.
That’s good to know, thank you!
The road conditions alone here in the North East are a reason to get this more beefy suspension. Not to mention the severe weather. The added drive modes are there if you need them. What blows me away are the folks that live in warm climates with FWD ? I don't get it.
Do the seats adjust up and down in the Ford Maverick FX package or do they just slide from front to back? Just wondering if I have to get the luxury package to get the power seats up and down option
The driver seat does, yes. Passenger does not.
Thanks for the comparison. QQ - does non FX4 Mavs come with a screw in tow hook on the front bumper somewhere??
You don't need the FX4 package. This platform started as a FWD Focus platform, then to the Escape and then to the Bronco sport. It isn't made for off road. Just get the 4K package and you get the upgraded cooling, more gearing, hitch and 7 prong, built in brake controller and you are fine for the hot weather, even if you don't tow.
I hate how people really think a sticker (FX-4) really makes a difference bruh 😂
It adds more off road power
Like crappy old civics with stickers and fart cans lol
Thanks for posting I guess have hybrid on order doesn't matter hard to get them anyway
Fx4 with 4k tow can tow more. It's better in the winter.
yess tow hooks are iportant
fuel difference? between the 2
I'll take the FX4 I like to go snowboarding every year.
You didn’t show the skid plate difference :(
Shoot…yeah that would have been a good idea. Sorry!
2024 an AWD Hybrid Mav will be avail.
THEN, FORD will introduce a new
Santa Cruz like vehicle named
RANCHERO.
!
You rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it
and yet no talk on the engine shut of at stops and lights
You can turn that off with a press of a button
this thing needs a chrome package
800 dollars for a sticker and tow hooks .😂
Obviously you didn’t watch the video. Smart
The stickers have been coming off when going through the car washes.
@@markfrederick6202 ok. Nothing to do with your original comment. You get upgraded engine cooling, skid plates, better tires, tow hooks, and 2 additional drive modes. If you buy a truck and don’t like the sticker quality, I’d suggest a Prius.
@@johnhirka654 Better off with the 4K package. You get better gearing, all the cooling upgrades, brake controller and have the same ground clearance.
@@rotart12arx3 unless you don’t tow. I like having the drive modes as I go up into the Hills quite a bit.
Fx4 Pkg is overated.
Just get the 4k tow pkg and tire/wheel upgrade to the Wildpeaks.
No brainer gas front wheel drive. Every thing else FX4 no review needed. Not even as close.
