Women Self Defense: Survival Mindset [Live Example]

- This video is part of a social experiment we are doing with various women. Subscribe to my channel : / @nickdrossos .
The purpose of this project is to test women's ability to defend themselves against a dangerous attacker. With these videos, we shall be giving you tips on how to strike back and escape from your opponent.
In this video, we are illustrating what is recommended that you do if ever you get pinned down on the ground by an attacker wanting to take advantage of you. A young woman by the name of Sandra has volunteered to help us with our experiment.
As Sandra demonstrated in the video, the moment that your opponent has pinned you down and grabbed your hands, the first thing you should do is bring your knees up. It is crucial that you do this move. If not, you will have more difficulty getting your enemy off of you.
Afterwards, she performed an excellent grappling movement the "buck and roll" and managed to get her opponent beneath her. Once she managed to do that, she started to punch him at his ribs!
Sandra did an excellent job! Even after five years of not having done any self defense classes, she was capable of defending herself against her attacker. This proves that even a small seminar in self defense can help you learn to protect yourself against anyone.
All those little tips and tricks that you learn will follow you for the rest of your life, which is a very good thing if ever there comes a time when you will need to use them.
Although we mention in many of our videos that it is ideal to palm strike, it's not obligatory. If your instinct is to use your fist to attack, it isn't a bad thing. If it gets the job done, that's what is important. There is no right or wrong in self defense, in the end you have to do whatever is possible to survive and get out alive.
As you might have noticed if you compared this video to the other ones, Sandra reacted quite differently from the rest of our female volunteers. She knew how to use her body, what posture to have, and how to strike back. All this from just one self defense seminar!
One thing you must remember is that your opponent will probably not consider you a threat if you're a female. So use this to your advantage, just like Sandra did! Vasil was not expecting her at all to be able to defend herself, let alone strike back!

Nick, this is super stuff! I am learning so very much more from watching these one sided staged fights...and then with coaching( a little bit of coaching) and wow. What a difference!! More of this!!! Each person you do this with will get others to start thinking, possibly find your classes. They will obviously be talking about it with all their friends and those friends will talk to others....just to begin to imagine being attacked. Damn, this is good stuff! I wish I could be one of those 'strangers'...do you do this in your classes, at the beginning with beginning students? You should! If you ever do a seminar in Oregon let me know!! It'll be called, 'careful, idiot attackers of little old ladies'! Make Mr. Hunk (hulk) wear rib protection, nard guards, and fully padded...cause I am a biter, too. Sort of the same gear for attack dog demonstrations... Major Grins...!!!
We did a unit on grappling at my karate dojo, this is what they showed us. But honestly in the beginning it was just a bunch of black belts grappling and giggling awkwardly. This is great for anyone who wants to be able to defend themselves in this situation.
This was great! I would love to see more women's self defense videos. Self defense should be offered at the work place.

Okay, so my question is, what happens if you're on a bed, the edge of a bed, to be specific, and your legs are hanging off of the edge, and I'm short so my legs can't reach the floor on my bed, so what should I do to get him off? I can't use my legs to push because I can't reach the floor, what on earth can I do?
Yes yes. This is a very good question. I hope he does a video on that because I feel like that situation is more likely to happen than to be lying on hard ground, like in the demonstrated videos.
Push him on his back so he will fall off the bed on the ground! But it's not easy as this guy shows it!
I'm a mixed martial artist and trust me, most of his advices don't work with beginners and especially the one with the knife!!! If you wanna defend yourself against someone very strong who holds a knife in his hand by striking with your bare hands, you are a little bit crazy!!!
Emily Carr I really hope he does, too, it's definitely more likeley to happen in a bed room than on a firm floor I would think, because some women invite you over into their home or some men will even sneak into your home. Scary.

Watching does help in a way, but to get the most you absolutely have to do it real time, whether it be a seminar or in a real fight.
No. In the heat of the moment, when you're surprised and off guard and the adrenaline is flowing, you're not thinking. You may be able to fight them off just by instinct, but what you really want the muscle memory of good training. You want it to happen without thinking, because you don't have the time or ability to think., just react. And you're better off if those reactions are good fighting technique that's so ingrained that you do it without thinking... Which is good, since you're not thinking

What could you do if you are not strong enough to flip them over? I attempted to do this with a neighbor who is much stronger then me. He has a lot of power in his thighs and was able to keep me from moving. I fought until my arms, wrists, and legs were sore and I couldn't budge.

No not attacking, that would mean your wanna beat him till he stops. That wount happen most of the time.

Absolutely love your videos man, they're so informational! I've recently taken up going to self defense classes after spending a number of years doing martial arts, and there's a lot of habits that I picked up doing the latter that I need to unlearn as they just don't apply to a situation outside of the dojo. kids have problems with this stuff to and men are a lot bigger and way a lot more then little kids so for a kid it would be different would you be able to teach that?
Argh - when kids are attacked by adults, it's usually an abduction scenario. It wouldn't involve the kid being pinned down. It would involve trying to carry them from A to B (perhaps a vehicle). You have to think about what the objective of the assailant is. An adult attacking a kid is not going to square off, and start throwing punches, or tackling them, and pinning them, because it runs counter to their typical objectives.
Great vid as always, so I'm guessing that proper mindset should be practiced with technique. Usually you only see the technique being practiced. Thanks for sharing these vids.
I love these videos but I honestly don't think I have a high 'positive outcome' probability if something like this happened to me... I mean all you can do is 'try' to defend yourself..

British&Proud then go for his eyes and nose. Poke his eyes, smash his nose etc. Also punch his/her ears if you can. Just do anything to fuck the attacker up. And once he/she is down dont stop punching until you see blood. If they have hair, grab the hair and smash the head into the ground...

I noticed that the women in the 2-4 videos I watched so far are taller. I would like to know how to get out of something like that,but I'm on the shorter end of the scale, plus, I'm one crazy weakling. Is there any way you could make a video where the girl is about 5'2" who isn't strong at all?? I'd say I'd volunteer to be part of that movie, but I know of no one who comes out this direction ever lol

You should teach as well that women with long finger nails to scratch and claw for the reason if they cant get away and worst is to happen they have the guys dna in there finger nails because they cut the guy open.

Must be very weird for the guy to get on hundreds of women and do what he does and I feel bad because he gets beat up so much.These videos will help me in the future when that happens to me I will have this knowledge and know what to do if that ever happens to me.I can teach my family.I can teach my friends so they know how to defend themselves and they will probably do the same and I will tell them who I got it from so they can watch more of these videos and have more knowledge.
