I watched this and people like him, Patrick Skinner, and came to a realization; we have the most intelligent, street smart people (geography, history, multilingual people) compared to the elected officials leading them. Which is really sad.
Wow, how well said. Couldn't have said that better. These guys do the work of heroes and politicians don't even let a lot of this stuff go on without a fight. Basically they do the job the politicians don't even want them to. Sad times. Using both a left and right wing president to be non biased, we today are far from having either a Keneddy or Reagan with a single exception. Most of these guys in politics don't get it simply. I was taught you never enter a war without the will to win. And if you go to war, you fight dirty. He did it to an extreme. He's a national treasure in my book!
Jamal: Why do we keep dying to these infidels! Him: Those infidels must be listening to us! (Group all looks around at each other) Him: Laughs (Group laughs) (He stops) (They stop and grow cold and glare and get scared) (He smiles again)
Doug, Thank you for your service. I enjoy watching your youtube videos. I have not read your book yet or seen any of your tv shows. I have a question I hope to get a response. When you state that you were/are apolitical. Does that also mean that during a presidential election you did not vote? In my opinion I understand being apolitical considering your job & employer because you are supposed to be unbiased in the collection of intelligence or shaping/influencing of your task. Voting for president you would be in a small way be influcing policy by voting for candidate "X". What's your take or opinion?
I can't answer for HIM but you frankly just never tell. It doesn't matter either. You are doing a service to the country, not a politician. What matters is you are willing to trust in our way of government. THAT is KEY. If you can't stay objective you will be worthless in the field. You will start to treat your superiors with contempt, your job mates and contacts too. You need to focus on doing the best for the country usually by thinking for yourself while on missions. There is never one way to do any mission. The last is key because you basically become your own boss in the field. politics are then irrelevant. I hope that makes sense.
You can't stop them all. But guys like this are heroes. They have saved tons of lives. They are all over and frankly, they don't care what people think. They did it, they know it, and you weren't there.
Great interview!
