FMEA
Failure Mode and effects analysis .
It can be used in both Manufacturing and service industries.
What it actually does?
FMEA helps to find potential failures at initial stages in designing a product or a process. Each potential failures will be captured and their effects in the product or process will be found out and Cause of failures are noted. And severity rate / Occurrence rate / Detection rate are captured and finally RPN ( Risk priority number ) calculated. Formula For RPN ( Severity rate × Occurrence rate ×Detection rate).
Highest RPN will be given first priority in finding solution for Failure.
FMEA can also be used in existing process, which needs improvement.
