I’m a year late for this review but wow. The fact that the shade you got was sooooo much lighter than your skin tone and you managed to make it look absolutely gorgeous and natural toned I’m shook. You’re awesome.
As a 14 year old, I wear foundation to cover my acne, and I use a Neutrogena skin clearing shade tan 100 foundation for acne, and even though the foundation looks too pink on my hands, it looks perfect on my face. I've tried others that no matter how little I used, it would always be too light or too cakey. Then I go for powder for my eye bags because concealer makes them look wayy darker than usual. This girl can do makeup, I clearly can't and it shows😀, if she were in my body she would've probably found her way around concealer

It is different for everyone so I would most def say try it yourself. And over time their makeup has gotten better. I just started using it, and let me say it is perfect. I’m new to makeup and I’ve tried 10 different foundation and shades over time and none melted in my skin like this. It cover hyperpigmentation and all. Give it a try. It’s a 14 day testing trial before you actually pay.
It's probably the level of coverage you're using. I HATED foundation until I started using light coverage. If you have texture or acne that still needs to be covered, it looks better when you use light foundation with a high coverage concealer.
I personally had no issues with the brand, received in post was fine, colour match was spot on, it’s a medium buildable coverage I personally love this foundation. It’s so light weight!

I am so glad that I looked for reviews and saw yours. I took the 'quiz' and was given #35 as my best color. Normally, I am a #10 (classic ivory) and checked out theirs which looked right. Then I saw you put on #05, milk white! Wow, the fact it never went past milk white was horrifying! Then how it cracked was the topping on the cake. Thank you for reviewing this and saving me the money and hassle.

Dude I tried the “try it before you buy it” 14 day trial thing they have going on right now and I LOVE the foundation. Not a fan of the concealer but the foundation goes on like butter. And sending back the stuff I didn’t like was easy af. Printed off a free return label and sent it through the post office. And if you order a foundation and you don’t like the color, you can exchange it until you get the one you like. Idk, Ik this video is from a year ago so maybe they’re better now. Who knows.
That's how I feel! I see all of these negative reviews for the foundation and I was pleasantly surprised with it! I kept the foundation but not the concealer
I wish I saw your review before I ordered this product. I recently tried wearing it for an 8 hour day and it was the worst experience I’ve had with a foundation. Very similar to yours but my skin also had a bad reaction. It made my face red and very dry for 2 days following. However Il Makiage has a 14 day trial period and I was able to return it very easily. I’ve heard mix reviews about this product, and I really wanted it to work for me. Unfortunately it did not. Anyway, thank you for your honest review. It is appreciated.

You said it was too light for you and when you first put it on, I agreed, but the end result is beautiful. Your skin looks marvelous. I bought some too and I've liked it so far but I've only worn it once. My only issue was the sun spots on my left check began to show, but it does that with Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and IT Cosmetics CC cream. Mine didn't break up though. I did not have any issue with it settling into all my lines, unlike the other two I mentioned above. I'm going to use it again tomorrow and we'll see if I still think that. I have 14 days from the day I received it to use it and decide if I want to keep it, so I'm not sure why you can't return it.
I used a primer first. It looked really good on me . It is able to build more. You can always find your own shade. My skin is very dark spotted and it covered amazingly. It may just not be the brand for you. That color is truly not your shade. How did you come across that color? You are ghosting. You still look beautiful though. Maybe it is the product you used underneath it. I have very dark circles and I don't even need concealer if I choose not to wear it . My only thing is when I tested, I did it for fall look which my skin is much lighter. But I just added a little (I mean a little) makeup of what I usually wear and it looks really good. Your skin looks really good i wore mine all day and it still looked good. I didnt fully makeup but I was impressed with the foundation. It literally saved me about an extra 15 minutes off doing my face.
Lord I almost had a heart attack when she pumped that mascara so much.... LOL 😂 but I’m glad her foundation was to light because I used their foundation matching and the one they chose for me was a little light as well!

This isn’t the same Woke Up Like This foundation that’s on Sephora...that one is by Lawless Beauty. I had them confused also...they launched them at nearly the same time! I don’t know how they both managed to brand the name? Just wanted to give a heads up because it’s confusing!
I don’t have any of the issues you mentioned. My foundation stays on flawlessly all day long and it feels very natural, even the full coverage one. I really like it.
Do you think it was breaking up like that because you mixed another foundation on top of it? If one foundation was water based and the other foundation was oil or silicon based, it could cause it to separate where it would otherwise have been decent.
it is completely scam, their call center never work and they charge me for stuff suppose to be free beside that you can't never print the return level. the whole thing is a scam
They are the WORST! i had a defective bottle and they wouldnt send me a new one so i elevated the situation and they ended up sending me a tiny tube in a box that i could fit my body in followed by MULTIPLE other boxes inside. just to be petty about it.
I bought from them but the color they’ve sent was a bit darker than my then they’ve sent me a lighter one for free and told me to just give the 1st one away. Just a problem with the pump otherwise it was goo foundation.
This foundation is the perfect match for me I have no issues with it . I use other foundations and it made me look orange or red but this foundation work for me.
I read the ingredients it has Talc. That was causing the itchiness. I can't wear Talc it always breaks me out horrendously. I love IT COSMETICS. Her stuff is so underrated! And IT COSMETICS never breaks me out and is so reliable!
I bought this on their current 14 day try before you buy scheme, it's not as bad for me as it was for you but it certainly doesn't last well enough on my oily skin to justify £44 when Urban Decay is right there. It goes on lovely and looks beautiful nd has a wonderful colour match for me as well, but looks worn off at the end of the day, so I'm thinking of sending it back right now. If it was longer-wearing I'd DEFINITELY keep it, it's such a shame because it starts off looking amazing.
Really wishing I saw this before I just ordered a “try before you buy.” They say all I have to do is pay shipping & if I don’t like it return it & that’s it but if I like it pay $44. I saw a lot of other negative videos about it too. How do they fake those videos they use for ads!? So frustrating!! & I am not looking forward to the customer service issues everyone is saying. Maybe it’s good that you got a shade that was too light. This is the only video I’ve seen the deterioration so clearly, had it been the right shade it probably wouldn’t have showed on camera so well. So good job girlfriend! Thank u!
I'm surprised that almost 100% of the reviews on RUclips are saying only positive things about it but I just tried it and it was cakey when I put in on like you can tell it's foundation sitting on top of my face. Shade wise it's pretty close but I do not like the consistency and the concealer they matched it to was way too light for me so I'm going to be returning the products unfortunately. Thanks for the honest review. I will say one thing though their customer service based on my experience is excellent.
as someone who went to study at Il-makiage, it's better to get away from their stores (ridiculously expensive and the sellers just love to shove products). jsyk the "woke up like this" line is actually the BFF line, just new packaging and name~
I personally like that il makiage has buildable foundation, which is what I chose when I did the online test. It also feels very light and doesn’t dry completely matte depending on which finish you ask for of course. In terms of just taking a little test and getting it shipped to me without having to buy it right away, they do a good job
Just curious if it's cracking due to what you applied prior to the foundation? I have had issues with certain moisturizers and foundation not getting along. Curious if you tried anything else after this?

That’s not really a new brand, il makiage is a really great and big brand that’s been working for years and even have a makeup academy. It’s new for you because it just went international, they were local before
They charge you only $5 for shipping but they put a hold on the $44. So technically they do pretty much charge you the full price because you aren't able to use or spend that $44 on hold. It's written in fine print on the terms of service page when you're checking out

I really like their eye liner, not the liquid one but the pencil. The “Oreo” color is the one I wear and it’s not black but it’s very dark so it gives a nice contrast from the eye shadow.
They do take returns and thank you, you reminded me of my exact thoughts for trying it in a NYC summer 3yrs ago. That’s why I didn’t look into buying it. I’ve just been bombarded with it on Instagram and RUclips sooo much, that I was thinking of giving it a second try.
I had a similar experience. They say you "have" to prime this makeup and wait a full 5 minutes to let it oxidize and dry. I'm receiving a different shade, but I use Fenty profilter and Lancome waterproof all the time and they are amazing. I'm hoping my experience is better next time around (with primer), but as of now, I had a VERY similar experience to you. I had to use about 8 pumps of product, because it was so "clear", and I looked like I'd been embalmed after I did 3 coats to get the coverage on one coat of Fenty. My skin is VERY dry skin, it wasn't any better for me. I actually broke out in a few places (which I never ever do because my skin is so dry). They originally matched me to a very orange and ashy color. They are sending me #50, we shall see.
one thing i don't understand is how anyone expects makeup to stay looking fresh after 6 hours, i know touch ups are a thing. i have never found a foundation that stays on my face for that long. isn't it better to have makeup that slides off over time then one that gets stuck inside the pores?
Did you take their online quiz before ordering and they sent the foundation based on that? I took their quiz and my skin is light with neutral undertones and they recommended #40. On the screen that shade looks like medium not light so I'm scared to order it based on their quiz.
I live in Wyoming and it does the same thing to me. It's cold and dry here and it looked shitty withing minutes of wearing. It spilt out into the box when I recieved it as well. It's good for decoration and that's it.

My main question is... is it cruelty free? If not I won’t buy. Can’t find the damn official video. Edit it’s cruelty free but for a huge price you can get a couple bottles of e.l.f. Foundation which is perfectly fine, it’s light and works well. They also have acne putty which works with freaking masks
All my foundations do to this me lol. Fenty beauty did it to me as well. Switched powders and everything. Now I’m on a skin care regime journey. F the makeup 🤣🤣 good video though
This was a good honest review. I tried it on in the store thought it was meh and im glad I avoided it. BFF concealer not so great either. Their lip products are nice though. Just a little constructive feedback - could def use a camera/lens with better autofocus! Keep creating!
I know this video is old but I love Il Makiage. I live in Dallas, Tx but have never had it break apart like in the video. It only does that when I didn't wear a primer.
Maybe they have consistency issues with their formula? I hear great things but I tried two different shades and they were both horrible. It breaks up and disappears giving me that horrible too-bright undereye. I had to remove my foundation in a public bathroom because of how horrible I looked.

Kackie Reviews Beauty thanks I'll look for those! I've been trying to find a foundation for months. I tried Younique because my family loves it but it was HORRIBLE for my dry skin. Recently I've been using savvy minerals by young living but I'm not a huge fan of the coverage..
I also bought this product and not only was the color match completely off and the breakdown was horrible, but it also made my skin break out within hours of application. I've returned it ASAP.

Considering that this review was from 2018, I understand where you’re coming from. I ordered online and they got my shade right. And I’ve tried over 20 foundations, even ones from korea, and this is the only foundation that worked for me. I’m not a youtuber nor do I work for them. But you guys should watch newer reviews. You just have to be careful when you do the try before you buy. Read the fine print. It says that you can try it, just pay for the shipping. Then if within 14 days you don’t return it then they charge you the full price. It ain’t free. And it’s not a sample bottle. It’s a full sized bottle. Seriously, this is the best foundation I’ve tried, better than the YSL I used to have. You guys are missing out if you still rely on this review.

Bianca Delarosa you can return it I think and they’d give you store credit and not charge you for the trial. Then you can pick another shade. So basically if it doesn’t work out the first try, you have another chance to get it for free 🤣
It’s a scam. I tried ordering a month ago because I saw their (fake) promo on Snapchat and I never got it. I never heard from them. There’s no reply from the 10+ emails I sent. Their 1-800 number is a robot. The Better Business Bureau rates them so low for the same complaints. This company is terrible.
I ordered the foundation recently and mine also came leaking out of the bottle, except a lot more was leaking out. Turns out they didn’t screw the cap on my foundation bottle so it just leaked inside the box- I wouldn’t blame it in shopping but quality control.
I have a theory on this brand what if they don't put any effort into making the product, tell everyone they can return it and still pay $5 for shipping, and then every time someone returns it they just send it to the next customer and that's how they make their money and that's why the bottle was not closed all the way and spilling out because a customer is the one who put it in there!!???
I never broke out until I started wearing this. I have a very regular skin regime and normally don't any pimples. I have 7 right now and the only reason I can think of is this foundation...so disappointed, but I expressed my concerns to the company and they gave me a 50$ gift card for the trouble so I got some lipsticks.
So I’m 50 and I have super dry skin that could be the difference but this is the best foundation I have ever used. It didn’t turn pink, separate, or settle in my fine lines. It lasted all day. However, I followed the instructions perfectly. I used the primer that goes with the foundation. I have found certain primers cause some foundations to separate. I also use the concealer from the same company. I ordered the wrong shade first and the company replaced it and didn’t charge me and told me to keep the first foundation. It Cosmetics seems to always be tacky on my skin.

BermudaGirl 19 just curious how did you answer all the questions to get 35? I have looked at all the colors and I got 10 but 35 looks more my color.

I had a severe allergic reaction from this too! Very red, burning sensation, very dry.
I saw another review that said it smelled really perfumy. I have sensitive skin so I wouldn’t get it for that reason

I bought from them but the color they’ve sent was a bit darker than my then they’ve sent me a lighter one for free and told me to just give the 1st one away. Just a problem with the pump otherwise it was goo foundation.
I placed an order for the foundation and I am going to see how this works. I am a woman of color, and I will either love it or hate it. We shall see!
This foundation is the perfect match for me I have no issues with it . I use other foundations and it made me look orange or red but this foundation work for me.
Which color did you use (we look around the same complexion), did you use the concealer too?

I read the ingredients it has Talc. That was causing the itchiness. I can't wear Talc it always breaks me out horrendously. I love IT COSMETICS. Her stuff is so underrated! And IT COSMETICS never breaks me out and is so reliable!

I bought this on their current 14 day try before you buy scheme, it's not as bad for me as it was for you but it certainly doesn't last well enough on my oily skin to justify £44 when Urban Decay is right there. It goes on lovely and looks beautiful nd has a wonderful colour match for me as well, but looks worn off at the end of the day, so I'm thinking of sending it back right now. If it was longer-wearing I'd DEFINITELY keep it, it's such a shame because it starts off looking amazing.
Really wishing I saw this before I just ordered a “try before you buy.” They say all I have to do is pay shipping & if I don’t like it return it & that’s it but if I like it pay $44. I saw a lot of other negative videos about it too. How do they fake those videos they use for ads!? So frustrating!! & I am not looking forward to the customer service issues everyone is saying. Immediately regretting my decision.

Maybe it’s good that you got a shade that was too light. This is the only video I’ve seen the deterioration so clearly, had it been the right shade it probably wouldn’t have showed on camera so well. So good job girlfriend! Thank u!

I'm surprised that almost 100% of the reviews on RUclips are saying only positive things about it but I just tried it and it was cakey when I put in on like you can tell it's foundation sitting on top of my face. Shade wise it's pretty close but I do not like the consistency and the concealer they matched it to was way too light for me so I'm going to be returning the products unfortunately.

as someone who went to study at Il-makiage, it's better to get away from their stores (ridiculously expensive and the sellers just love to shove products). jsyk the "woke up like this" line is actually the BFF line, just new packaging and name~
I personally like that il makiage has buildable foundation, which is what I chose when I did the online test. It also feels very light and doesn’t dry completely matte depending on which finish you ask for of course. In terms of just taking a little test and getting it shipped to me without having to buy it right away, they do a good job
Just curious if it's cracking due to what you applied prior to the foundation? I have had issues with certain moisturizers and foundation not getting along. Curious if you tried anything else after this?

They charge you only $5 for shipping but they put a hold on the $44. So technically they do pretty much charge you the full price because you aren't able to use or spend that $44 on hold. It's written in fine print on the terms of service page when you're checking out
They are the WORST! i had a defective bottle and they wouldnt send me a new one so i elevated the situation and they ended up sending me a tiny tube in a box that i could fit my body in followed by MULTIPLE other boxes inside. just to be petty about it.

Did you shake it before? I found that when I shaked it and it mixed it was alot thicker and not runny or creamy

I really like their eye liner, not the liquid one but the pencil. The “Oreo” color is the one I wear and it’s not black but it’s very dark so it gives a nice contrast from the eye shadow.

They do take returns and thank you, you reminded me of my exact thoughts for trying it in a NYC summer 3yrs ago. That’s why I didn’t look into buying it. I’ve just been bombarded with it on Instagram and RUclips sooo much, that I was thinking of giving it a second try.

I had a similar experience. They say you "have" to prime this makeup and wait a full 5 minutes to let it oxidize and dry. I'm receiving a different shade, but I use Fenty profilter and Lancome waterproof all the time and they are amazing. I'm hoping my experience is better next time around (with primer), but as of now, I had a VERY similar experience to you. I had to use about 8 pumps of product, because it was so "clear", and I looked like I'd been embalmed after I did 3 coats to get the coverage on one coat of Fenty. My skin is VERY dry skin, it wasn't any better for me. I actually broke out in a few places (which I never ever do because my skin is so dry). They originally matched me to a very orange and ashy color. They are sending me #50, we shall see.

one thing i don't understand is how anyone expects makeup to stay looking fresh after 6 hours, i know touch ups are a thing. i have never found a foundation that stays on my face for that long. isn't it better to have makeup that slides off over time then one that gets stuck inside the pores?
Did you take their online quiz before ordering and they sent the foundation based on that? I took their quiz and my skin is light with neutral undertones and they recommended #40. On the screen that shade looks like medium not light so I'm scared to order it based on their quiz.

I live in Wyoming and it does the same thing to me. It's cold and dry here and it looked shitty withing minutes of wearing. It spilt out into the box when I recieved it as well. It's good for decoration and that's it.
What were the foundations you suggested instead? Did you say lush?

My main question is... is it cruelty free? If not I won’t buy. Can’t find the damn official video. Edit it’s cruelty free but for a huge price you can get a couple bottles of e.l.f. Foundation which is perfectly fine, it’s light and works well. They also have acne putty which works with freaking masks

This was a good honest review. I tried it on in the store thought it was meh and im glad I avoided it. BFF concealer not so great either. Their lip products are nice though. Just a little constructive feedback - could def use a camera/lens with better autofocus! Keep creating!
I know this video is old but I love Il Makiage. I live in Dallas, Tx but have never had it break apart like in the video. It only does that when I didn't wear a primer.

Maybe they have consistency issues with their formula? I hear great things but I tried two different shades and they were both horrible. It breaks up and disappears giving me that horrible too-bright undereye. I had to remove my foundation in a public bathroom because of how horrible I looked.
They DO take returns. I returned mine though, because everything else she said is accurate!

Considering that this review was from 2018, I understand where you’re coming from. I ordered online and they got my shade right. And I’ve tried over 20 foundations, even ones from korea, and this is the only foundation that worked for me. I’m not a youtuber nor do I work for them. But you guys should watch newer reviews. You just have to be careful when you do the try before you buy. Read the fine print.
It says that you can try it, just pay for the shipping. Then if within 14 days you don’t return it then they charge you the full price. It ain’t free. And it’s not a sample bottle. It’s a full sized bottle. Seriously, this is the best foundation I’ve tried, better than the YSL I used to have. You guys are missing out if you still rely on this review.

Bianca Delarosa you can return it I think and they’d give you store credit and not charge you for the trial. Then you can pick another shade. So basically if it doesn’t work out the first try, you have another chance to get it for free 🤣
It’s a scam. I tried ordering a month ago because I saw their (fake) promo on Snapchat and I never got it. I never heard from them. There’s no reply from the 10+ emails I sent. Their 1-800 number is a robot. The Better Business Bureau rates them so low for the same complaints. This company is terrible.
I ordered the foundation recently and mine also came leaking out of the bottle, except a lot more was leaking out. Turns out they didn’t screw the cap on my foundation bottle so it just leaked inside the box- I wouldn’t blame it in shopping but quality control.

I have a theory on this brand what if they don't put any effort into making the product, tell everyone they can return it and still pay $5 for shipping, and then every time someone returns it they just send it to the next customer and that's how they make their money and that's why the bottle was not closed all the way and spilling out because a customer is the one who put it in there!!???

They asked me on my quiz about if dry skin is my issue so they must’ve improved it since then
I never broke out until I started wearing this. I have a very regular skin regime and normally don't any pimples. I have 7 right now and the only reason I can think of is this foundation...so disappointed, but I expressed my concerns to the company and they gave me a 50$ gift card for the trouble so I got some lipsticks.
So I’m 50 and I have super dry skin that could be the difference but this is the best foundation I have ever used. It didn’t turn pink, separate, or settle in my fine lines. It lasted all day. However, I followed the instructions perfectly. I used the primer that goes with the foundation. I have found certain primers cause some foundations to separate. I also use the concealer from the same company.
I ordered the wrong shade first and the company replaced it and didn’t charge me and told me to keep the first foundation.
It Cosmetics seems to always be tacky on my skin.
