Should be a clause in every NIL deal that voids all money owed. That's the only language they understand.
The best football players are usually the most irresponsible, hood, and dumb people. They also just happened to be insane athletes.
Kirby never suspend these guys. They do this dumb shit and will still be on the field game one.
No morals down there, they win so it doesn’t matter
suspend them for a year. and Josh is wrong they have not done everything they could and they do have culture problem. Now I think it is the public knowledge you are putting the public at risk when you drive that fast and it is the publics money now, They wanted the fame now they are going to get it, Suspend there license for a year
Spoken like a true BAMA homer KB. Let me guess, you or anyone else in the world have never went over the speed limit? I don’t condone any of that BS these players do. Did you get suspended from the Army because you broke the law? I’m pretty sure you got verbally or formally counseled if your chain of command found out. Ya’ll need to stop judging what these players do. Instead pray that all college football athletes get their act together before it cost them their life.
@christopherstephenson06 just a whole lot of excuses..and for the record, I never broke the law while I was in the military. Telling the truth is not judging. Just because you don't like the truth don't mean it shouldn't be said.

As a UGA fan that's the part that really gets me. I know that kids can sometimes feel invincible and that loss of life doesn't sink in with them as much as it should. But good grief this makes zero sense
Should be massive fine if possible and suspension
Let Gundy handle it. He’s driven drunk 4000 times
Gundy is the gift that keeps giving. I think his mullet grew into his brain.
As a Georgia fan I appreciate your honesty
I hope that is not sarcasm. I’m not a Georgia fan and it’s easy to make jokes about another team but I was being sincere. Two people died. It’s absurd that anyone still behaving reckless in a car is still on the team after that.
if he's done everything he's ever done why has nobody been suspended for this
That’s what happens when you give all of them hellcats
EXACTLY. You have a bunch of 18 and 19-year-olds with cars that have well over 700 horsepower. I know I did not need a car with that much speed when I was 18 or 19. I was speeding in a car they didn't even have 200 horsepower😂 those cars are pretty much death traps and they don't know how to drive them responsibly.
@topdawg78 and that's an understatement. No one wants to swallow their pride and accept the fact that they don't possess the skills or experience necessary to drive a car like that. Even 30 or 40 year olds.

They should build a drag strip for the team. Let them race on a private track.
Good idea! Maybe that's what other programs are doing?
Universities would love another excuse to raise tuition to fund that - God forbid Kirby cough up a few oysters for such a thing, I'm sure...
“I guess you could kick them off the team, I guess you could do that “…. Just being honest, after a fatal crash, the next offender should have been kicked off. I’ve lost count of how many vehicular offenses that have occurred since the fatal one.
UGA fan here, and I agree. Enough is enough and the message isn't getting across.
Another UGA fan here, and I couldn’t agree more. This should be known and Mondon should be off the team along with any others who can’t get it through their thick skulls
GOOD ANSWER
Bama fan here, but I feel for the georgia fans on this one...maybe CKS should remove them from starting, and put them on the practice team. This way it affects their ability to move up into the pros. That is what the players' ultimate goal is, so if it is threatened to be removed, that might reach them. Say the next offender is put on the practice squad for an entire year, that will hurt the amount of tape scouts have on them.
im willing to bet if kirby started tossing them off the team it would stop very quickly
if regular kids do this stuff, imagine treating kids like gods and giving them bags stuffed with cash and expecting them to follow the "regular people' rules. And maybe these are misdemeanors, however we already know this stuff can be deadly. Will it take one of these kids mowing down a crowd of people on a sidewalk for it to be taken seriously?
Other schools kids seem to be doing just fine. This rate of incidents is a soley Georgia thing atm.
@@drumusic5665 yeah it is true, other schools don't have 22 players being arrested for this
Look I'm the 1st person to stick up for the kids tell ppl to calm down when 17 to 23 are a little immature. Who knew lol? But c'mon guys. We gotta tighten up. What are we doing? Like there's no excuses.
If I was given 6 figures in college and a bunch of popularity I don’t know if I would’ve made it to graduation.
If I made more than the median income of 50% of the country, I wouldn’t be behind the wheel of a vehicle… period. However, as a result of NIL, college kids are gaining inflated egos. SEC schools need to crack down on this because they historically have had issues with problematic students. Boat-loads of money in their accounts will only encourage this behavioral unless there’s a cultural change in southern universities.
You’re not alone. At the end of the day, these are KIDs! They’re generally not mature enough to handle the fame and fortune. Not a slam against any of them, it’s just a fact!
@@northodgeslmaooooo shut up
Most if not all college age kids have the freedom to make bad decisions all the time and everywhere. Don’t make excuses.
@@rmatthewcamp It’s not excuses, it’s fact. When all they hear is how great they are, it changes their mindset. Look at any “famous” person. Their attitudes are vastly different than when they weren’t famous. Add to that their immaturity, usually with no adult oversight, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Do other young people make mistakes. Absolutely! But the overall impact of those mistakes are usually much less impactful.
This has been going on since mark richt was coaching
Coach Smart NEEDS TO DROP THE HAMMER!! 1 strike is a warning, 2 strikes is suspension for "X" amount of time and 3 strikes is scholarship is taken away and kicked off team.
Has anyone been a two time offender?
It’s not a Kirby or culture issue. This has happened for decades. Even under Saint Mark Richt. It’s a college town with an overzealous police department. Period.
@@MikeHoncho69420 Sir, I didnt say it was Kirby or a culture issue. I am saying that if Coach Smart tells his players about the 3 warnings and what will happen, players will, In my opinion, will ask themselves, is this worth it?
They'll just find another team with those kinds of penalties
@@MikeHoncho69420 then it's a continuous culture problem
And they have had the nerve to call out the AJC for reporting it.
Yeah. The AJC absolutely deserves to be called out for many things but this ain't one of them.
its really hard to believe UGA is the only school in the nation with players reckless driving and racing their cars. I find that the UGA and Athens Police are taking a much stronger no nonsense approach to this problem compared to almost every other city and campus.
Nobody said they were the only ones, but the frequency? C'mon man, get real you're sounding like Michigan right now "but, but, but they do it too!... We just get caught!"
Yeah, there’s a lot of evidence that UGA players are being framed ! Geez
@@codyslayer6715 did you even read the police report on that one rookie player? If that same thing happened to anyone else at any other place, it would have been a ticket and they would have been on their way.

As a UGA fan I’m done defending this. I was done a long time ago. This is ridiculous…
As a UGA fan, this kind of behavior pisses me off. You are a grown man. Act like it.
Chronic problems are a culture problem, Josh.
At a certain point, these dudes are adults. Ppl need to stop trying to find something else to blame.
I got a simple solution IF they have a NIL deal. Have a clause for deal termination for interactions involving law enforcement beyond speeding.
The only thing left …kick him off the team…but they won’t…and that’s why folks keep doing it
What happens when an innocent bystander or motorist lose their lives? Will they go to prison like the rest of society?
They need to set up go carts for the football team, so they can race each other off road.
It's not just one thing though. Their graduation rates have been the worst in the SEC for several years. P!$$ poor graduation rates speaks to the culture at UGA every bit as much as this does
How can JP say "it's not a culture problem?" come on...
Kirby needs to get something done. You get arrested or something for something like that, they should pull their scholarship. Idgaf if they don’t win another game as long as the kids aren’t out here killing or putting others at risk.
The fact that nobody is getting kicked off is comical. This is solely on Kirby and nobody else.
Nice try. Kirby instilled that fear in you so bad that you want him gone. 😂
@chewbaka1496 dude if another person dies otver this nonsense than what? "Well at least we can beat everyone besides Bama" like it's a joke that he isn't instantly kicking off every kid that dies this or at least an automatic season suspension and leave if you want to.
@@45heisman That has nothing to do with the fact that it happens everywhere, so don't act like it only happens at GA.
@@chewbaka1496”happens everywhere” except one school is the only one you ever hear about. But oh right, it’s a massive conspiracy to make it look like it just happens at Georgia 😂
@Jacob-ec6st It's not conspiracy. It's just the fact that other police department cares more about their team winning football games if the crime only involves speeding.
Sorry Josh but this is a bad take from you. On what basis are you giving the entire Georgia coaching staff the benefit of the doubt that they've done everything they can? It certainly can't be because they just hired an outside speaker to come talk to the guys. Team discipline is the ultimate responsibility of the coaches. The buck's gotta stop somewhere - Kirby needs to take action.
They’re the new Urban Meyer Gators
I don't know. I sort of always liked playing them that second game because you could always count on them having two or three key players suspended
Steve Spurrier
It’s not the PDs fault. These kids are endangering their community
Josh, you cannot say they are doing everything they can to mitigate this. Kirby makes elite athletes workout? Make them to go reckless driving class? Kirby has yet to enforce a punishment that means anhything. God forbid you take away playing time, or cancel NIL deals. Embarrasing
It's frustrating for sure.
Had a Speaker talk to the team about a couple of days before the incident. Those Players do not fear Kirby at all.
Sure bama boy
If Georgia loses like 3 or 4 games things might change but if they Are winning don't expect anything to change
Can’t you suspend them for 4 games? Not saying these specific guys, but setting a precedent seems obvious to me. I’m just a dude on a couch though
They will not do that. There is football to win.
TWO people are dead. You do the suspensions before the fatal car crashes.
@@rmatthewcamp but the driving wasn’t a huge issue before then like it is now
This has been going on at Georgia for a long time. Under Mark Richt they had the same problem. Coach Richt didn't think it was a problem that is team consistently led the league in penalties. I grew up in Georgia but went to Alabama, so Georgia is my second favorite team and I love Kirby Smart. Georgia fans are going to hate this, but Nick Saban didn't seem to have this problem. He did suspend people. Several top of the line players transferred because they were suspended or lost playing time because of their attitude and failure to adhere to the standards both on and off the field. I hope Kirby and the team can fix this, because it's bad for the image of the University of Georgia and, frankly, for college football.
What else is there to do in Athens during the summer?
Good discussion Josh. In my opinion Georgia bullbogs are an accident waiting to happen these football players stay getting arrested in the off season
We have removed the staff's ability to discipline... these kids have lambos in the parking lot and have the ability to transfer at the first sign of disciplinary action. What can ya do? The ol 2020 disciplinary tactics don't work in 2024. There is too much money involved and leverage has shifted dramatically towards the players. We wanted these little angels to have more power, now they have it. All the staff can do at this point is "provide more training", the corporate answer...and cross their fingers.
"I don't know. I always sort of liked playing [Georgia] that second game because you could always count on them having two or three key player suspended." - Steve Spurrier
But no cultural issues... LMAO
"Not stupid people" ... are you sure about that?
Remember when Urban Meyer was winning and everyone said "he's got a championship winning culture!"...
Then multiple crimes, controversies, and other off the field shit happened, then the narrative was "Urban had a toxic culture that only cares about winning and not developing real men with character"
Why is Kirby not under a microscope RIGHT NOW?!
I love how some coaches get torched and even fired for off the field issues, but the SEC's best coach can just keep having student athletes getting DUIs and deadly crashes, because winning.... That's what is really important
Facts
👍
Take them to ATL motor speedway and let them drive 200 mph. Get it out of your system boys.
Should play Sammy Hagar’s “I CANT DRIVE 55” as the team takes the field. 🏎
I honestly would not be surprised if someone played this when UGA took the field as a road team this season.
Need to add a clause in players scholarships that say the program can take their driving privileges away while a member of the team and then tell the players that the next charge for reckless driving will see all players lose the ability to drive for x amount of time. Would make players keep each other in line.
That sounds more like a legal thing not NIL. Too far
Yea no😂
Part of me is like if I was given that same amount of fame and money at that age I probably would’ve done a lot worse if I’m being honest but the other part of me is like why is this only happening at uga. You would think you would hear the same stuff coming out of OSU,bama, or other big money schools throwing cash at kids. But it only happens at uga which is weird.
19 incidents since that fatal crash? C’mon now, I think if other guys on the roster were gonna step up and put an end to it they would’ve done it by now. If it’s not a culture problem what is it?
Blame it on the PD 😂 dang Josh your a joke
Its definitely a tough situations, and I love your point about not being a cultural problem AND not a coaching problem, but a locker room problem. I think its player lead, and I wonder how much of it is really just "kids getting a lot of money and buying cars they shouldn't have" since NIL and all that is making these players way more money than they did before.
This is getting a little wild
GSP ain’t playing with nobody. Gotta respect it
Josh, I normally agree with you completely and find your opinions to be very well thought out and reasonable. But this one is different. In this video you come across as Kirby Smart’s agent. “Kirby’s done everything he can do.” Bull! How about suspending a player for a game, especially a conference game? How about kicking a player off the team? By not going nuclear he is not doing all that he can do. Kirby cares more about winning than anything else…including public safety and it shows.
Take their NIL money
Goff and Richt before him had players with runs with local police. Kirby has the Internet and microphone pundits to amplify the issues. Money and dumb testosterone is a news writers dream. Athens Clarke county will always be there waiting on them

This is happening on D1 campuses all across America. It's not just a Georgia problem.
Are we really that confused why it keeps happening when Kirby doesn’t seem to punish them?
Aside from guys following every player around 24/7 not much more you can do
suspend them actually punish them for once instead of this in house BS that coaches love to do so they can cover everything up. Treat them as if they were no a football player and letting them get away with everyting
Have them voluntarily hang their keys up on the depth chart post practice/evening workout/dinner. Then make some key decisions come game time.
Two words: restrictor plates. It worked for NASCAR.
Smart people, yea right! Not a problem. Kirby will handle it (which is why it keeps happening)
I think its a problem of this younger generation, you are giving very young men status, money and power, a lot of them will not be able to handle that regardless of generation, but this one seems to love street racing and drinking in their hellcat on the freeway. As an Alabama fan, GA is far from the only team i think of when i think of player off field issues. There is a lot, but a good bit aren't big names so no one picks it ups.
Nah it’s just young men being young men. I was doing the same stupid shit in my 5.0 at that age. Still doing it now but smart enough to not get caught lol
What?? That would mean other programs like Bama, Notre Dame, Clemson, ect. Would have this same problem at a similar rate and that simply is not the case.
@@drumusic5665 we have had several bama players get kicked off the team for DUI and racing. its a bigger issue at GA obviously
Where is Jack? A code red is needed!!
We're #1!
You know, I am surprised that it doesn’t happen more often everywhere. Give 18 year old kids Ferraris, kids that have been pampered for years and a bag of money what do you think is going to happen?
Booting players who willfully continue doing this is the only recourse at this point. Coaches have lost their jobs over less......
How many repeat violators have there been? All this talk of suspensions and kicking kids off the team is just ignorance. If no one is offending twice, clearly an ultimatum is being made. But kicking kids off the team for their first offense? That's a good way to ensure the current run of success ends. If Kirby did that, all you fans of other programs know y'all's coaches will use that against Georgia.
Exactly. I don't like that this is happening one bit but I don't hear about repeat offenders. And my son would be more afraid of ME than any coach or jail cell. I had him for 18 years but UGA only gets them for 3 - 5 years. This happens everywhere kids have fast cars and you cannot make me think anything different.
It's definitely a culture problem. Stop making excuses because they have a good team. I usually like you Pate. You are dead wrong here.
Agreed.
You can't fix stupid.
kids with 6 figures, reminds me of the movie Big with Tom Hanks
If Kirby was serious he would suspend players for significant time frame instead of having them play in big games. Kirby doesn’t care enough.
Don't sugar coat it, they have a problem there. Tell the kids, get it figured out or you don't drive when on the team. Period. Player should clean it up. If not, if they die, they die.
SEC Speed?
Irrelevant. What they do in their own time is their business, and minor misdemeanors are no business of an employer or a school.
One day someone will point to that terrible graduation rate at UGA, one day.
What do you expect when they all driving hellcats and scat packs through town at 20yrs old
If the guys want to race, go rent a local drag strip and do some legal racing. Give them a legal way to do what they want to do.
AD is going to have to start fining the head coach. Immediate suspensions. No way around it. It cannot go on.
Start placing blame on Kirby !!
That is on the head coach, there needs to be consequeses when players continue to make the same mistakes.
Simple answer. Revoke their NIL.
Apparently, the only people left to stop it are the boosters. If Kirby has "done all he can" and this is still happening, what does that say about his control of the locker room? The players aren't afraid of any consequences because they see others get away with things constantly. It's not that hard to understand.
I dont know man, with the amount that this has happened… i think Georgia might be the exact kinda team i think they are
Have they suspended players for games?
Make an example!!!
I never heard the end of it when Meyer ran the show in Gainesville and players were getting arrested constantly. But I don't hear anywhere near the same amount of noise about ole UGA. Interesting. UF may have had Aaron hernandez but nobody knows if he killed anybody while at UF. We know for sure that a Georgia player killed a teammate via reckless driving.
Just sayin!
These college football programs invest insane amounts of money in to player facilities. Most of these programs football facilities look 10 times better than most NFL programs facilities. With that being said, maybe the university of Georgia or its athletic department should invest in a private race track for players only. That’s made up like a dragstrip.
After a couple incidents it has to become a 0 tolerance issue. It should already have been a "idc how ticky tack the issue is you're gone you did this to yourselves it's your fault you're on such a short leash and now it's automatic you're gone. Says it's unfair idc blame the teammates before you but this is where we are until you guys can earn back trust"
Nothin gonna change, Kirby doesent have control over the kids outside of the football aspect.
So take away what matters most most to them. If you have tried everything else you are left with two options. 1. Take away playing ability 2. It will eventually lead to “bad culture”, if it hasn’t already. Because at the end of the day when kids learn they don’t lose what matters most to them, the ability to play, then they will test the edges of rule and it will be other things. Again if it isn’t already.
I mean ya I get it they’re getting charges but bro CLARKE COUNTY is hottttt for cops. Nothing goes in or out that county without them boys knowing
Kirby and the university will act swiftly and sternly over this, ha
NIL isn’t the problem. Kids have fast vehicles all over the country throughout college but only one school has a problem with their students racing. It’s mind blowing how this continues after the incident involving the deaths of players.
What’s happening at Georgia is what happened at Florida during the Urban Meyer era. You tend to believe you are invincible when everyone is telling you that you are.
Here's a thought...stop getting them out of the legal consequences and see if it keeps happening. They all think their untouchable. NIL goes on hold and let them sit in jail/pay fines/do community service.
It seems like to Me they are putting the brand first and public safety last. That is a culture issue, a culture of We don't care as long as We win and that is an issue across many different Universities.
