I don't have any mic'ed recordings of this roto-tom setup. Since the time of this video I switched back to shell toms. I still have the roto-tom set and I'm building a new rack for them. I recently joined a side project band who are doing metal music, so as soon as they get some songs polished I will try to use a similar roto-toms kit in the metal band to see how the rotos would sound in some blast-beat thrash songs. I'll keep you posted and notify you as soon as that time comes and I'll post new footage with the roto-toms mic'ed. 👍
To be honest, I really HATE the "boomp" sound of my kick-drum in this video. Here's what happened: I had a Danmar METAL kick pad gorillaglued to my Remo Emperor coated batter kick side drum head. After several months of excessive play (live shows, and rehearsals) the Danmar pad began to warp until it peeled away from the drum head... so all that remains is the pad's spongy backing and hard gorillaglue on the drum head. It sounded mushy... So, I applied a couple of Evans kick pads to that area. Meh, it still sounds mushy even if I use plastic beaters against it. WAAAAAAAH! This is the time for me to replace the kick side batter head, and apply a new Danmar metal pad or some other hard type of click pad to get my click sound back that way I had it several months ago this past summer, as heard in my band's live show video... ruclips.net/video/nUjy6uq4bSY/видео.html
Got anything with this mic'd up? I've been curious how Hydraulics would sounds on rototoms for a while.
