Laxus saying he’s in the guild because he is weak is in reference to him being once expelled from the guild then reinstated. It made him appreciate the guild as a whole more than just their strength. He needed those around him to show him that, so when he says he’s weak it means he still needs to rely on his friends, and still feels indebted to fairy tail for allowing him to become a member again. He’s there because he still has a lot to learn, unlike some lone solitary wizard which may be his ideal of strength, hence why it didn’t really matter when he was cut. Erza however, was more susceptible to that attack because she’s always worn armor to protect her so cutting her strength results in her feeling less confident and weak. Kyria's ability to cut strength is through emotionally and not Physically. Meaning she's cutting their strength to fight emotionally and not Physically. Laxus strength emotionally is weak because he don't need to be brave anymore. His Physical strenght alone is enough to beat her.
