Educational experience watching your videos as always! Very interesting! I almost always learn something new! Take care friend!

Timely video. I guess wood ash is also good for chickens and them taking a “dust bath” which keeps ticks and other infestations away. Something I just learned about. But I also use as part of my 3 tier composting system I designed. Thanks Big D!

Yes! Another friend said Cog Hill was talking about it. I am about to start a project where I produce a lot of my own compost...one step at a time! Thanks, my friend!

😅....I can't believe you took a bite of that! We first heard more in-depth about biochar from 'better together life" there are a lot of uses, we're interested in it for our soil. This was great information, good video! Stay Blessed!

Yes! I haven't watched better together life's video, but I think I remember Joel Salatin talking about it for pigs and several permaculturists talking about it for soil. Great stuff! Thanks, friends!

Filter out ash and the charcoal left is perfect for starting new fires, lights easily.

Wood ash is great to mix in with your garden soil as well.

Daniel (1)you can mix wood ash with some water to make a paste that can be used as a mild abrasive to remove the tarnish from metals or clean dirty glass, and even remove adhesives and sticky residue. Apply the paste with a cotton cloth while wearing gloves to protect your skin. You can add a little baking soda for a more abrasive paste. Try the paste on a small spot first.
    (2) sifted wood ash (no coal chunks) can be used to smother a fire when you don't have access to a fire extinguisher or sand or soil is not around. Just make sure it's out totally before walking away.
    (3) ash can soak up oil, liquid or body waste spills allow it to absorb the liquid then sweep it up.
    (4) you can use it for a wood ash tea you make it the same way that you make your compost tea but very diluted. I don't remember the ratio I'm sure that Google can tell you that.
    (5) Get rid of an ant hill.
(6)make a circle of ash around your plants that attract snails and slugs. They won't cross the ash.
(7)When you are planting tomatoes, squash , cucumbers, and peppers; toss a small handful of wood ash into the hole before putting your plant in the dirt.
    (8) The chunks of coal can be put in any standing water bowl or troth to help keep it clean.
    (9) deodorizer for the chicken coop
When cleaning out the coop put a layer of ash, chunks and all under your straw / bedding etc.
    (10) can be used in your pond to kill algae (just like it will keep algae from forming in your chickens and rabbits water bowls/bottles) Google how the ratio of ash to water.
I could go on and on. Lol
The animals and the soil get potassium, magnesium, calcium and other trace minerals from the wood ash.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe.
May God continue to bless you and your family.

Hello from fellow homesteaders and RUclipsrs 👋🏼 We like using ash for our garden. Throw some ash and let the chickens scratch it in. I can’t believe you actually bit it 😆
