I don't think it's heresy, I think it's the truth. The melody is beautiful and the harmonies are Lennon/McCartney at their very best. And this may be heresy but I think Yesterday would have been better if George Martin had left it alone and just let Paul play it on acoustic. Back in the day when cassettes were a thing, I used to isolate the left channel of Yesterday and leave the strings off when I would burn a copy for my mixed music tapes. When it's just Paul plucking it is a much better tune. But that's just me, though I understand John was also not a big fan of George Martin getting in there and orchestrating things up either (he told him as much when they did The White Album I guess). Anyway, If I fell is one of my top five favs so I'm more than okay with your assertion and do not find it heretical in any form or fashion. 👍
The harmony vocal on IF I FELL between John and Paul may just be the most beautiful sounds i have ever heard in my life, one of my all time favorite ballads.. I sat first row center for a Simon and Garfunkel reunion concert in 1993 and when they harmonized on SCARBOROUGH FAIR it was as beautiful. These were all once in a lifetime talents. God bless them all.
How did George discover the opening guitar lick? Instantly recognizable now! In fact, McCartney mentioned in conversation with Rick Rubin that the song is dependent on those four notes. Amazing to see the interest being shown in the Beatles 60 years later. I saw them in concert at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens in 1965 and '66. I was thirteen when I first discovered them and, like so many others, became a musician because of their influence.
As Paul has said on many occasions, first and foremost, The Beatles were just a f***ing good band! Each member of the group had a great feel for a song, even if one of the others wrote it. In this case, Paul came up with an absolutely gorgeous song ("And I Love Her") and then George listened to it.. thought about it.. and then came up with the opening riff that set the mood perfectly. These four guys made magic (especially with the incredible help and guidance of George Martin).
I know they wrote Tell Me Why in the hope that one of the Motown girl groups would record it, but no one could possibly have done it with a tenth of the excitement The Beatles brought to it. The guitar work is fantastic.

Interestingly most of their songs started with very little to crap but after enough polishing many came out the great hits that stand the changing times of music. Tell Me Why sounds as great today as it did then.
They were masters at filtering out the duff bits that most other songwriters would have left in. And they did it at phenomenal speed. Absolute masters of their art.
It's nice to hear the original single-tracked vocal intro to If I Fell. I recently bought the stereo CD and am constantly frustrated by the double-tracking on that intro. I've now ordered the mono version, just for that.
Great tunes, but I still think the United Artists version of "And I Love Her" is the best. It's tough to find these unless you have a copy of the United Artists version of A Hard Day's Night that was released in the US, but it has less reverb on it and the vocals have subtle little changes in pitch that are beautifully done.
Honestly, "and i love her" and "if i fell", while pretty sounding, are the unimaginative, throwaway songs here, the "filler" if you like. "Tell Me Why" using multiple layer overdub harmonies is the truly creative, richer sounding and breakout song of these three.
I've always stressed how great a Harmony Singer George Harrison truly was. George really came to the fore as a Harmony Vocalist in 1965! These are my personal favorites ~ Anna (Go To Him) Baby It's You Twist And Shout Help! - George's backing Vocals are essential on this John Lennon track! Harrison's response to Lennon's call works beautifully on this classic! You're Going To Lose That Girl - Wonderful and hip Harmony Vocal by Harrison! That Means A Lot Drive .My Car Rain - Wonderful three part Harmony Vocals! I'm Only Sleeping She Said She Said - George's Harmony and backing Vocals truly enhance this Psychedelic Classic! Paul McCartney is not on this track. Doctor Robert When I'm Sixty Four Hello Goodbye Lady Madonna George Harrison was never again featured as dominantly on Harmony Vocals after Lady Madonna!
First let me say I am a huge Beatles fan… but you had better do some homework. The early Beatles were very far from “squeaky clean”. McCartney had a child out of wedlock. All of that was conveniently covered up. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Those songs came into being from professional songwriters. Yesterday is a close copy of a 19th century Italian song. The Beatles wrote almost nothing of their early stuff, up to 1966. It was all done for them as was the backing tracks. All the lads had to do was learn the lyrics and stand in front of the mikes. The writers, the sessions dudes, George Martin and the engineers did the rest. We were all sold a fairytale....
You'll have to provide some proof for these claims that "Lennon and McCartney wrote none of their own music". Undoubtedly the studio guided and polished and marketed them, George Martin even played harmonium behind them, but to say the Beatles were a complete fraud is a claim with no known evidence.
There's actually film of Paul doing the vocal in the studio filmed by some of the movie people. It was used in "Anthology". Why wasn't it used here????
The Beatles seemed to tap into an underground river of melodic richness that had escaped everyone else, or been abandoned as "too innocent or naive". Falsetto had become an anachronistic embarrassment in American music, but John fearlessly restored it. Likewise the Beatles single handedly restored abandoned and childlike terms such as "ooh la la la" to musical relevance. The Beatles restored an innocence and joy to popular music which had been lost, the spirit and liberation of which even revitalized classical music.
Gosh, that contraption behind George at 4:46 seems taken straight from the boiler room of the Titanic! Dunno what it is, but looks scaringly obsolete, and a tad sinister!
When did The Beatles get their contract for Hard Days Night? I’m surprised these songs were recorded on February 27th after appearing on Ed Sullivan Show on February 9th.
Just imagine! They'd just come back from conquering America on their first tour. They must have felt like kings of the world. By the way, PepsiCo should buy some of these shots with the Pepsi bottle for their marketing. "Want to be cool? Be like The Beatles and drink a Pepsi"
I can imagine them inching through if I fell with George (Martin) coaching John through the warm harmony under Pauls lead line, I doubt John would've naturally found those notes unaided, that's real knowledge/theory stuff that I doubt he'd have the patience/want for

Don't wish your life away on a fairy story Rachel. I was around in those days, which makes me 75. A Beatles fan for 60 + years.
However....
It never happened, not how it's officially portrayed at least. It's a fairytale, not remotely like you believe...
@@logotrikes Really? You probably were sleeping
@@tizianalancia7679 Very likely. Twas but a dream....
I love hearing john & paul together.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@blindowlvideos5813 these are pretty much the completed final tracks, no?
I love 👍💕
Great tunes, but I still think the United Artists version of "And I Love Her" is the best. It's tough to find these unless you have a copy of the United Artists version of A Hard Day's Night that was released in the US, but it has less reverb on it and the vocals have subtle little changes in pitch that are beautifully done.
@@willzimjohn True. It gives the song a cleaner, more intimate quality.
This really makes me really hope Mark David Chapman never gets released. 42 years later and I still can't believe it.
Love John wearing his "Buddy Holly" glasses.
❤❤❤❤ Show
Just back from conquering North America and they are right back at making magic!
Honestly, "and i love her" and "if i fell", while pretty sounding, are the unimaginative, throwaway songs here, the "filler" if you like. "Tell Me Why" using multiple layer overdub harmonies is the truly creative, richer sounding and breakout song of these three.
Nossa
Cada musica mais linda que outra
Gênios !
One of my favorite Beatle (primarily Paul) songs.
The Beach Boys recorded "Tell Me Why" - it fits perfectly!
I've always stressed how great a Harmony Singer George Harrison truly was.
George really came to the fore as a Harmony Vocalist in 1965!
These are my personal favorites ~
Anna (Go To Him)
Baby It's You
Twist And Shout
Help! - George's backing Vocals are essential on this John Lennon track! Harrison's response to Lennon's call works beautifully on this classic!
You're Going To Lose That Girl - Wonderful and hip Harmony Vocal by Harrison!
That Means A Lot
Drive .My Car
Rain - Wonderful three part Harmony Vocals!
I'm Only Sleeping
She Said She Said - George's Harmony and backing Vocals truly enhance this Psychedelic Classic!
Paul McCartney is not on this track.
Doctor Robert
When I'm Sixty Four
Hello Goodbye
Lady Madonna
George Harrison was never again featured as dominantly on Harmony Vocals after Lady Madonna!
Excelentes canciones!
Beatles started out so clean and wholesome, but then they started “rolling up” and went on a psychedelic magical mystery tour.
First let me say I am a huge Beatles fan… but you had better do some homework. The early Beatles were very far from “squeaky clean”. They drank and took uppers to keep them going and they spent a good deal of time with German prostitutes when they played in Hamburg. McCartney had a child out of wedlock. All of that was conveniently covered up. Sorry to burst your bubble.
@@jimmy5634 And further more during that period before Brian Epstein arrived The Beatles were considered by many to be the hardest rock band in the UK. The clean cut Beatles were Epstein's idea to make money - and boy did they ever make a lot of it.
to present anything to the world it had to be clean and wholesome. and the Beatles showed us it could be done and still rock out. kinda not like today.
@@tommaloney3938 it’s ironic, but Beatles were considered opposite of conservative, but compared to the left today, the Beatles were evangelicals. The Beatles sang, “If you go carrying pictures if Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow.”
Democrats today are more likely to appoint people who IDOLIZE Mao.
@@rickpontificates3406 lennon had some regret writing that line, he just needed something to rhyme with anyhow. He had mao leanings for a while and was close friends with maoists
Love seeing John in his Coke bottle glasses🤓
To anyone who says Tell Me Why is “album filler” I’ll just say fill this!
Q: Where do these creatures come from who go about looking for Beatle history to give it the thumbs down? Weirdos disturbed by real talent.
Answer. It was a fairytale. Didn't happen. No video exists of the lads doing instrumental tracks and singing, except Get Back, and that is very ordinary with only barely adequate musicianship. Sure they sang, but they were singing lyrics written for them. All they had to do was learn the lyrics and stand in front of the mikes. Everything else was taken care of by others...
The truth is sometimes horrible, but there you go. Manufactured band from the off...
'And I love her" came to Paul McCartney in a dream! As did "Yesterday".. Why don't I have dreams like that! Lol, so good, Paul McCartney could write songs in his sleep!
Let It Be was inspired by a dream, too.
@@logotrikes Utter nonsense spouted by a troll who’s looking for attention. Yawn. 🥱😴
You'll have to provide some proof for these claims that "Lennon and McCartney wrote none of their own music". Undoubtedly the studio guided and polished and marketed them, George Martin even played harmonium behind them, but to say the Beatles were a complete fraud is a claim with no known evidence.
Paradise lost....
I never got the reason why "If i fell" never made it to any of the hits compilation of the fab four.
El cerebro fue Lennon, el alma fue macartney , el cuerpo fue Ringo ,pero el espíritu fue george Harrison
Seguro
Lol
2nd wave of peak Beatles
When did The Beatles get their contract for Hard Days Night? I’m surprised these songs were recorded on February 27th after appearing on Ed Sullivan Show on February 9th.
60 jahre ago😢
Just imagine! They'd just come back from conquering America on their first tour. They must have felt like kings of the world. By the way, PepsiCo should buy some of these shots with the Pepsi bottle for their marketing. "Want to be cool? Be like The Beatles and drink a Pepsi"
At this point - they look like students of music. George Martin the professor. End product speaks for its self.
This is just the final songs taken from the original records, no rehearsal or work in progress.
Yes this is true. The photos are from the recording session that produced these songs on this day.
I can imagine them inching through if I fell with George (Martin) coaching John through the warm harmony under Pauls lead line, I doubt John would've naturally found those notes unaided, that's real knowledge/theory stuff that I doubt he'd have the patience/want for
John had already written the main melody line that Paul sings, and his part in the bridge
It´s a John Lennon baby , from start to finish !
@@stellapolanco6860 well, not quite. John himself credited Paul with giving him the middle-erght and they worked out the harmony parfs together. So, primarily John's.
@@strathman7501 , When or in which interview John claimed that Paul helped him with the middle eight of "If I Fell" ?
@@stellapolanco6860 Interview with David Sheff, 1980, re If I Fell: "The harmony’s Paul’s … and maybe the middle eight, let me think." He sings the verse through, and says that was his own; then coming to the middle-eight he says, "i think maybe the middle eight he introduced the chord in the… Yeah, I might have mixed up the story on the middle eight to In My Life and this one - it’s *this* one he gave me the middle eight on the F, and In My Life was complete.”
These sound like the release tracks. Not from the studio recording.
Clickbait
You are correct, the audio is the final finished versions of the songs. The highlight of the video are the photos that were shot in the studio when these songs were recorded.
Sounds straight off the record
5* Music supremacists!
Do you know the meaning of the word video?
This ain’t it.
OK...what do you call it then. Photos to music? Thousands of videos I see on U-tube are also still pictures...So none of those would be considered videos either?
@@blindowlvideos5813 you don’t owe anyone an explanation! This is an absolutely beautiful VIDEO! @@jacquelinemamahiggzhiggins2951And all a fairytale. The Beatles were a manufactured band brought into being for a particular social agenda. When you pull back the curtains you see the reality of what transpired from 1962 to 69, and it isn't as you think.
I've been a Beatles fan and loved their music for 60 + years, but I am under no illusion that they were the song writing genius's they're purported to be. They weren't. They were a rubbish garage band with nothing behind them and they didn't demonstrate any real songwriting abilities. George Martins words not mine...
