I really love the Lyriq. Does the mapping software tell you the state of charge at the destination in advance? I understand that Tesla's do this, but wondered if the Lyriq does as well.
It does. The guess o meter (GOM for short) on the LYRIQ uses Google tech. I have found it to be much more reliable for the destination state of charge (SoC) than Tesla navigation. I use to drive a TesM3 as my daily driver and the GOM there fluctuated quite a bit in route. The GM / Google one does not near as much and the initial guess is often spot on.
Great vid. I just picked up my Lyriq Sport 3 AWD last week. How long did it take you to receive the the EVgo credits from Cadillac/GM? I too already have a charging station at my residence and will be looking for those credits. Thanks!

We owned a M3LR. The charging experience in the Lyriq is several generations behind Teslas. That is 90% due to the differences between public DCFCs against the Supercharger gold standard. When others r allowed to use SCs, that difference will be gone. I really think the move by Tesla takes away a key distinction and will likely end up hurting their sales. I guess we’ll see.
Most of the time in the Lyriq, it is my wife choosing. I agree a steady 100 kW - 80 kW is often better then an erratic 150 kw - 40 kW, but my wife doesn't entertain geek speak from me well. When I post up driving, I normally choose the 100 kW Deltas at EVgo ReNew locations.
Looks like you had much better luck with CCS charging than others on RUclips seem to have. A nice cruise with a ride in a nice car makes for good video!
How long at each charge station and to what level did you charge your battery each time? How many miles and length of time did you get from each charge before you were compelled to stop to charge again? Without this info, I’m not sure the purpose of this video…

If you are new to EV life, then it is an adjustment. However, most of life is daily grind where fuel is found overnight in the garage, making it more convenient then gas. To answer your question directly, ~30 min. Our friends made the trip in about 90 min less in their ICE car who were on the cruise with us and live in the same city.
Yea mostly getting the EV for the daily grind but if road trips aren’t a huge problem would love to take the EV on road trips. 1.5 hours more isn’t too bad for an almost 9 hour trip.
Me too. Saw on another vid today they only sold 1.5k in q2. I hear from folks I know they are seeing them around though. My sister said she saw three in one day around the Chicago area, so maybe GM will turn up the water pressure on the production line soon. Thx for watching & the nice comment.
@@thenetworkarchitectchannel That’s disappointing when vehicles like the Ioniq and EV6 can get closer to 250kW. I’m curious what the limiting factor is in this battery pack compared to the Hummer/Silverado
@@thenetworkarchitectchannel When DC fast charging an EV, there is no on-board charger involved. The DC from the cord goes straight to the battery. All the AC to DC conversion, and voltage and current regulation is done by the charging station. The car does have control of the charger - it tells the charger what current to push, based on the state of charge of the battery, and the temperature of the battery. But the actual charger(s) are in the big electronics filled boxes off to the side of the charging lot. The maximum charging rate the car allows or asks for is set by the engineers that program the car's brain. With a simple software update your car could charge at 350 kW. Ok First charge was 33min what was level of charge in car before and after? State of charge. Also did you use app or pay at charger? I ask because heard charge time for Lyric is slow and pay at charger does not work well. Thx
Thx for watching. W/Autocharge+, there is no app or paying at the charger. It is like a Tesla Supercharger where you just plug in. No app or LCD screen interaction needed. EVgo does not retain the SoC in the app history, but 40 kWhs were delivered in the 33 minutes. We have a 102 kWh battery so that is about 40%. With larger batteries, SoC in a given time is not a good measurement, IMHO. Better the number of kWhs delivered. For instance, on a Silverado, that would be only 20% SoC since it has a battery twice the size of the Lyriq and four times the size of the Leaf or Bolt.

@@billjohnson3344 I have driven EVs for a couple of years. Although I did not ever do a 100-0 range test, I can say a 102 kWh battery pack is noticeable in the distance it covers between charging stops. @@thenetworkarchitectchannel Size of the battery pack is only part of the equation. Comes down to efficiency and the pack size. I also have driven EV's for years, including a LR Model 3 also. Smaller pack, but much more efficient for weight and aero. Agree that even so that Lyriq is a bit better than that, but not as good as Tom's test. Key is what his actual average speed was. I’m jealous. Still waiting on my 2024 Crystal White Tri-Coat with the 22 inch rims. Can you tell me if you are getting 312-314 miles of range on the 22’s?
Not sure 4 sure, cause we never drive it to zero. Tom M on the State of Charge did & got over three. I think u will love it. Neither my wife nor I had any buyers remorse.
The functionality of the Google Maps looks great. The owner’s manual says you must have a Google Connected Services Plan to be able to use Google Maps integrated into the Lyriq infotainment system. Does the Lyriq receive 3 years of free OnStar and that is what is being referred to? An Internet search reveals that Google sells a subscription for undefined “services”. Will that work and which did you get with the car?
Not listed on the sticker, so honestly I am not sure. We just drove it off the lot and started using everything. I do not recall any svc agreements with Google. The one thing we needed to hammer out was the EVgo 2 yrs free charging. That took a few weeks to get sorted out.
It is 6 months free for 2023. Same timeframe for OnStar trial. SuperCruise is 3 years before needing a subscription. Not sure what 2024 included trials are.
5, but we could of done it in 4. We didn't need the charge in Jacksonville, but it was free at EVgo for us, so I decided to stop there and top off before leaving Florida.
It can go 300 miles, but in an EV it is common to drive between 80% to 10%, so about 250miles or 4 hrs at highway speed. Each stop we spend about 30 minutes at.
An adjacent car’s door opened and a lady reacted to something that startled her. My wife actually told me I should add a blerb explaining the sound. I guess she was right (again). :-)
Nice video-- But you need to talk us through the trip. You have a great voice and good info, so use it!! But at times this feels more like a visual road trip, which is cool. But I was expecting to hear more about the charging experience. Also, be careful just waving the camera around at things (around 5:35), I understand you are just holding the phone in your hand, but for the viewer this is too fast to see anything and gets annoying real fast. Better to just cut it out and show us something that we can see and understand (like the DCFC screen or the Lyriq charging screen). I'm a Tesla guy, so it's great to see the other charging networks up and working. We're all in the EV family!!! Good Luck with your channel.
I am a Tesla fan boy too. If it were not for Tesla, EVs would still be less then 1% of sales globally. They are dragging by force of will the rest of the industry into electrification in one of our age's most significant paradigm shifts which I support whole heatedly. I am passionate about EVs and Tesla is the undisputed leader. As for my video skills, I agree I produce armature content with respect to lighting, sound, and camera movements. This is just a diversion hobby for me and I do so often with little attention to detail, but I am finding the quality is improving over time as I iterate through vid creation processes. Anyway, thx for watching and the nice comment.
What sucks is the pay rate change from 29c to 49c Lyriq owners have free charging for 2 years EVgo if that’s the option you choose. Instead of Qmerit electrical service installation.
My wife makes the vehicle purchasing decisions among us. I think if I could have any, it would be a tricked out ModX 7 seat, so the back two rows could be folded for a Glamping setup. Glad u enjoyed.
How many miles per gallon did you average, how many times did you have to stop to recharge in total, was that on par with “ice” vehicles? I like your videos detailing charging infrastructure & Cadillac Lyriq, Im looking forward to getting on late 2023 or early 2024 would you recommend leasing or financing the Lyriq?
If you r a 1st time EV buyer, I would recommend a Tesla. As for our trip, we stopped to charge 5 times which is about triple the amount of time for fuel stops as an ICE car. However, for daily grind we spend zero time at gas stations to fill up for the work week. We get our fuel from a charger in our garage, so I feel it balances out.
@@thenetworkarchitectchannel yes, I will be a first time EV buyer, you recommend Tesla for 1st time EV buyers because of the Tesla charging network or something else? I was just reading that Mercedes Benz has agreed to join the NACS AKA the Tesla plug 🔌. What was the sound at 9:10 in the video
An adjacent car’s door opened and a lady reacted to something that startled her. My wife actually told me I should add a blerb explaining the sound. I guess she was right (again). :-)
33 minutes for 39 kwh! Not exactly fast charging given the size of the battery.
truth. Cadi has some work to do on charging curve improvements.
How much is GM losing on every Lyriq they build/sell?
I’m thinking a lot but am not sure. Lyriq is a lot of car for the money
Since we already had a home charger, we elected the 2yrs free at EVgo and have been enjoying it. Thx for watching & the comment.
Great video. If you have to buy an EV now will you get a Lyriq or MYLR. Any regrets or afterthoughts? Thank you
My wife makes the vehicle purchasing decisions among us. I think if I could have any, it would be a tricked out ModX 7 seat, so the back two rows could be folded for a Glamping setup. Glad u enjoyed.
what is the color of your car?
S teller Black
The day can’t come soon enough that the plug for an EV is the equivalent to that of home electrical product because all this fuss about the plug needs to be put the rest so that industry can tackle charging infrastructure & battery range.
@@debtdestroyer several reasons. Unfettered Supercharger access being one. Their EV tech is generations ahead of anybody else too. I know of few Tesla owners who experienced buyer’s remorse.
After being a Tesla owner, it is easy to transition to other EV brands.
There is a reason the Tesla Model Y is the #1 car by sales volume on the planet currently, unseating Toyota from the top spot.
@@thenetworkarchitectchannel ok thanks again.
But your background music is terrible! Woo!
Looks like a nice car!
yeah, I have limited options on iMovie. I kinda randomly select what is available.
the Lyriq is $14,000 more then the model Y
ruclips.net/video/-c0uHyKz8vI/видео.html
There is a comparison graph at the end of the above vid. I don’t completely agree with all their #s, but the two r not $14k away from each other and the Y lacks many luxury options the Lyriq has.
Who selected the annoying music on this video?
That would be me. I have since heavily curtailed the use of themed music
Holy crap! The music is painfully annoying. More information, less music please.
I am going to have to agree with you. I am putting the final touches on a new one which is almost completely free of back ground music. I’m still learning. Thx 4 the candid feedback
Couldn’t watch it, I don’t get why people think that putting annoying music in their videos is a good idea.
Just dropped a new one that has no background music.
Music is totally annoying
Fair. I have stopped using background music since then. Thx 4 watching.
