I had a coaching lesson last week, and I’m working on my wrist actions in the swing and it’s straightened me out no end, to the point I dropped ten shots on my last round, I’m itching to get out again and work on it more

Half way through the video, so thought I’d drop a like and comment - enjoyed it so far. I was living in Bristol when I first took up golf, and some great courses in the area. I was a member at The Players Club, and also The Bristol, which are very different, but both well worth a visit. The Kendleshire is also down that way, and has some great holes. Knowle used to be lovely, but not played there for years. I’m at Brickhampton now and also help to run a business networking golfers group at Lilley Brook in Cheltenham.
Definitely give the Players a look - awesome course and insanely tough off the back back tees!!

    Andy -
Great video and great golf!! You are a GREAT putter inside 10 feet. Impressive. I wonder how many of us would have missed a few of those putts. Driver, wedges and putter are the key to the game.
Question. I let my arms/elbows separate too much at the top which gets the club too far behind me. What do you think about Pete’s drill to swing the club back cross handed to get the feeling of the club more in front of the body and then “spin” the right arm down to impact. Would love to see a video from you addressing this. I think so many golfers have this same problem.
Love your videos. Please keep posting.
    Thanks. Jim

I really like playing courses without a ton of prior knowledge, it kind of takes some pressure off the shot. I just accept my choices and the outcome no questions asked. The same is true for me in the wind, wind makes a normal day and adventure. Well played Andy , the new putter is working better.

    Awesome course there Andy.
Currently I am having to rebuild my swing. About 3 weeks ago I was practicing flighting down my 9-iron to learn a low 150-yd shot to keep in the arsenal. I should have never done that. My normal 9-iron was usually 140-145 yards. In doing so, I somehow lost the ability to make good contact. Shanks, slices, and sky high ball flights now. It seriously looks like I am a first timer. LOL.
Only my driver is still doing well. I can hit driver dead straight and carry it I'm assuming 280-ish. When using apps to track shots the driver distance is anywhere from 300 to 285. I do have trouble trying to draw or fade driver shots. Seem to always over do it. So straight is what I stick too.
However, everything else is no good. I believe I developed a massive 'over the top' motion and I am having a heck of a time dialing my swing back in.
I have always gone to the driving range 3-4 times per week and for the past two seasons my swing has been amazing. I attribute that to changing to an interlock grip from the baseball style grip. When I made that grip change everything must have fell in order....because I gained 15 to 20 yards depending on the club.
That's all gone though in the past 3 weeks.
edit: Also chip shots from inside 25-yds is spot on as well. That's the favorite part of my game the past 5 years.

Strokes gained stats would be interesting. You said it - "not getting up and down from around the green." Looks like a couple of hours a week on the chipping area would knock off a couple of shots per round on average.

Great round Andy! A question for you. I noticed when you teed up a 2 iron, you picked it up clean off the tee with no divot. What's the difference off the tee between say, a 2 iron and an 8 iron, in regards to tee height, and deciding whether to take a divot or not? Been struggling a bit with that lately. Cheers

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  11 месяцев назад +1

The tee height on a 2i is ever so slightly higher but the angle of attack into the ball will be different as the 2i is longer with a more forward ball position so likely to be picked off the tee cleaner without a divot

Hey Andy, I have a question for you. On a couple of the opening holes you wanted to execute a fade or slight cut with the driver. I noticed that you teed the ball on the left hand side of the tee box. I was taught that you open up more of the hole if you tee up on the right hand side. Was it a feel thing for you to tee on the left hand side?

    • @adamjay6600
