Great clip. Very informative but as soon as the cast is finished it is removed . It would be good to see an extended version showing how the patient is able to be lifted into a comfortable sitting & bed lying position & maybe demonstrate how the patient is turned .
If I have a chance, I want to try it. It is very difficult to demonstrate patients in Korea because of the privacy law. Preparing for a model is not easy.
Do you use a hip spica cast on adult patients often? In my opinion it is a great alternative for many surgeries but in Europe sadly almost never used :-(
Thank you for your question. I've had 35 years of experience.Adults used to have a lot of spinal inflammatory diseases, fractures, etc. It's almost none these days. Infants are sometimes applied to femoral fractures and congenital hip joint diseases.
@@plasterme1111 It is hard to find a female model because of Korean sentiment. Even if there's a real patient... It is difficult to film a video because the patient did not agree with it.
Could you determontrate how the patient is managed in this cast. The wearer is bacially helpless so how will they be moved to a sitting position & would lying on a bed on the affected or unafected side be possible?
@@TV-bd7oy How can he cover his free crotch area? This must be extremely embarrassing for the patient, having the most private body parts naked and exposed all the time. Pants, even shorts are impossible with this spreader bar between the legs.
Thanks. Will you be demonstrating a single Hip spica ? I have wondered if a SHS needs to extend higher to below the nipple line. Also reinforcing at the hip would be crucial. You wouldn't be able to remove as much cast as you have done around the peripheral areas as it would weaken the cast.

This is a video to show the procedure and removal method.
If I have a chance later, I'll prepare and upload it.
@@TV-bd7oy who is the cast being put on? What happaned to him? I heard he’s 18 and was in a car crash, is that true ? How old is he actually ?
😮
Will you be demontrating the application of a single Hip spica cast sometime as it will be a totally different procedure & worth noting.

Have you ever made a video of a double hip spica?
I haven't made a video
It's hard to make a video because I'm working alone.
@@TV-bd7oy what a pity ... if I would not live so far away, I would love to help you with the camera and the film editing.

@@TV-bd7oy thanks a lot for your answer! So for adult patients it is no longer used? Why that?
Very informative, Have you a Video of Woman in Hipspica?
What about the female video? Do you need it? Humans are all the same...

The patient needs third-party protection while lying in bed. The patient can also sit in a chair or wheelchair with the help of a third party.
What kind of material did you use for this, was it fibreglass or polyester?
I'm allergic to glass fiber.
I only use polyester products.
In reality the patient will be totally naked under the cast?
Yes, that’s right.

그러면 기저귀같은걸로 소변을하나요?
어린이들은 기저귀 사용..
어른들은..누워서 가능해요.
