Inspired by SketchCassette’s NR Comp algorithm, ShapeShifter is a one-of-a-kind dynamics remodeler and character compressor that will completely transform the shape of your sounds. ShapeShifter molds a blend of multi-band upward and downward compression into a toolbox for adding color, body, and grit to your sounds. This can take the form of anything from a subtle vibe boost to blown-open, raucous carnage.

I like how the demonstrations get better and better progressively till the end of the video. Had me solidly at bass, when piano came in I was figuratively transported into a studio Ghibli movie
Please tell me that’s a real piano song I can listen to or find the notes to online :)
@@Sondaze Daniel from Aberrant here - thanks for such a lovely comment! It's a song from my ambient / modern classical project "still life". here's the bandcamp link, it's also on streaming platforms! danielfine.bandcamp.com/track/i-do-think-we-are-so-close-2
This may be the coolest and most useful compressor I’ve ever seen, and I have a lot of them! The inclusion of transient shaping options is great!
Every plugin company should make their introduction / tutorial videos like this - I was already tempted to buy shape shifter but this has defo sold it for me
very cool !! love the creative GUI on this and sketch cassette. also, as someone who is often confronted with option paralysis on other more complex plugins, i like that these are slimmed down in their number of tweakable parameters, but still versatile
from the demos alone (and my experience with your first plugin) this is a no brainer and will be a wonderful tool! Hopping over to your site to buy it now :D
This is what I’ve been looking for all of these years
This plugin is amazing, thank you for the presets, understanding compression is hard but shape shifter unlocks the potential!
Yeah, I was looking at the SketchCassette and then I saw this plugin and watched the demo and that sealed the deal for me buying the bundle! Can't wait to play around with these!
Congrats on your work, man... this is really an awesome plugin... Already have the SketchCassete and will get my copy of the ShapeShifter for sure...
So creative. The piano sample transported me to a simpler time.
I like the sink unit and drying pan on the guitar...neat.
the UI on this is a work of art
So dope! Digging the gui. Can't wait to use it, great break down of the features.
Cute design.
Cute sounds.
yeah! very well made like your Sk Cass, both demo and plugin itself!
Fantastic video. Buying immediately
DAMN cant wait to play with this...
Will prob get any plugs you guys make after loving sketch cassette for so long now!
great plugin, but please tell me what make and model that bass guitar is. I want one !!
Definitely getting this plugin 🙌🏼 sounds amaze! Does anyone know what electric guitar is being used in these clips?
i was wondering that myself- I don't recognize the headstock logo
Yamaha
AMAZING COMP...
reminds me a little bit of the vulf compressor
This is quite similar to Vulf comp, and Sketch Cassette is also quite similar to WOW Control. I'll have to try them out and see how they compare, what they can do differently etc.
2:04 3:24 what kinda amp ar u using? I like this VST ... Needthidsounds
Neither of those examples used amps! Both the Bass and the Squeaky Clean Guitar were just DI'd in and then had ShapeShifter added. The only example that used an amp is the Trashy Emo preset example which used Waves GTR on the Edgy setting placed before ShapeShifter in the signal chain.
@@AberrantDSP sorry time stamps were wrong! I mean the part were you plug the octaver fuzz on the guitar after the bass part.3:00 to 3:22
I think on buyng this, but i may need also the other gear you used... I need it to add sort of wes Borland sound to finish a record...
@@loredanamassini3656 That part also had no amp, just an octave fuzz pedal (Foxx Tone Machine clone I made) into Valhalla VintageVerb on the Default setting with Dry/Wet turned down, then into ShapeShifter!
@@AberrantDSP can i hire you to add some guitar screaming noises here n there? Extracool btw you inspired me a lot
Tnx
I love this thing!!!
Great vid. I think I'm going to pick this up. Also what kind of electric guitar is that?
Yamaha Revstar RS502T!
@@AberrantDSP thanks! What's the difference between this RS502T model and the RSS02T (Standard)?
The RSS02T just seems to be an updated model, looks like some changes to the finish and hardware and maybe a different body wood. Pickups and electronics seem the same though
@@AberrantDSP thank you!
Hmm, very interesting!
SOLD!
Probably a daft question but was the distortion on the guitar part of this plug-in?
Partly yes! On the "Wild Distortion" demo we had an octave fuzz pedal on the guitar before ShapeShifter, and on the "Trashy Emo" demo we used an amp sim with light distortion, but we incorporated lots of ShapeShifter distortion into both of those demos too. You can hear the difference between the ShapeShifter-less signal at the beginning of each demo and the affected version when ShapeShifter comes in.
@@AberrantDSP Thanks, I really like what you’re doing. I’ve spent all my available cash on the Black Friday sales but I suspect I’ll be back. The CassettSketch sounds really nice. I’m actually using orchestral sample libraries and I think it could be an interesting mix. 🙏😎
Ok, guys... now the real question. Where can I find your music?
Haha thanks! You can find Dan's modern classical/ambient music here: danielfine.bandcamp.com the song he plays for the piano demonstration is this one: danielfine.bandcamp.com/track/i-do-think-we-are-so-close-2
Ben's music is here: grandwagoneer.bandcamp.com/ hasn't been updated in a while by there's a few 4-track recorded lofi tunes on there you can check out
@@AberrantDSP Thank yooooou!
dat F# key
Stripped raww
I wish everyone sold their plugins like this. Except Fabfilter, Dan is awesome.
Hey guys. Great to see a new plugin from you. And great to see you playing heavy distorted guitar... In the kitchen. Yeah baby baby Rock'n Roll.
I don't think I need this plugin to achieve the sounds I hear from this plugin but it's cool to have it under the finger tips in one such a refreshing looking GUI. As being a film geek it reminds me a lot of movie cover art from the European 50th period. I do like Sketch Cassette a lot and I like your attitude, the design as well as your company philosophy and yeah so I love to support you guys. Bought. Keep up the creativity.
PS. only thing I'd like to hear from your plugins is a more analogish sounding distortion algorythm. I do think there is still more unused potential. Not saying it isn't great for many things as it is right now, cause it is :)
What do and don't you like about the distortion? I want to buy this plugin primarily for the saturation as I like the sound of sketch cassette. Wish there was a demo.
@@urbanman1516
I like it, it's very usable for many audio material. But it's also relatively high gain and slightly digital harsh sounding and I wish it could be made a bit softer, warmer and subtle. It sets in a bit too fast and heavy. I think the mix button is a great option to dial that back a bit in a mix. First off all is the color for me. More like a Zener?
@@nichttuntun3364 Maybe you could reduce the input knob to taste? Thanks
Shame there wasn't a vocal example :O
Oh! the Dirt on Guitar is Delicious.
I thought my monitors weren't working at the beginning of the video. Thanks for blasting my ears. Your video editor needs to get fired.
it has that cassette tape sound... but with the clarity of studio equipment
