I am not here to be instructed on 10mm conversions. It's comment after comment. I am just ballistic testing, which requires one bullet at a time. Stop it lol. I am not a sponsored channel except I do get help from Patreons. I just am not huge into the 10mm, so spending maybe $700 just to test 10mm better isn't what I want to do. Now I wouldn't mind a model 610 revolver in 10mm as I could run .40 S&W too, so maybe. And also a Patron donated the funds to get a .45 ACP aftermarket barrel to run .45 Super in my Glock. This is what I am more into, so 10mm is probably going away to some degree and we will venture onto .44 Mag VS .45 Super when my barrel is completed. I am a month into a 2 month turnaround on it.
I know u will do what u want and what u can afford but don't stop the 10mm videos and also u should do hot 44 mag vs hot 45 colt not 44 mag vs 45 super which is no comparison at all because the 10mm beats the 45 super most of the time so it's no different or u should do 44 mag vs 460 rowland which all u do is a conversion on a 45 caliber gun and they are way more neck and neck than 44 mag and 45 super or 10mm but do what u can afford tho keep up the great videos also how could we send u amunition if possible

@@danoneill2846 .45 Super is unique in that you can tune you're .45 with the right spring and aftermarket .45 ACP barrel so it shoots .45 ACP just fine and also .45 Super. That's my main takeaway in why I think it's cool. With 10mm it's only 10mm unless it's a revolver.

Another great video. I'd take the 44 any day. 6 rounds of any quality HP ammo would more than likely put down 6 thugs. If there were more than 6,the rest would probably be asses and elbows. If not, a little practice with a speed loader can even the odds. Looking forward to the next one. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
That's if you hit all of them in a high stressful situation. I'm a decent shooter but I probably could not do that. I like my Glock 29 10mm 10+1 and with the Glock 20 mags that fit into it 15+1. Rather be safe then sorry.
Those 180 grain Buffalo Bore 10mm rounds are impressive. I just purchased 100 more. Shot a buck this year with one this deer season and it was devastating, only went 10 yards. They are also a great self defense load.
44 mag feels like a hunting caliber to me personally. There is a very clear jump in power from 10mm/357 vs 44 mag. Great video, I love how thorough you are with the data and fairness 👍.
Fun video! 10mm is a great round, but I've never had a magazine fallout of a revolver. I know you were having trouble with the Glock, but I've seen multiple time's a magazine fallout of a semi auto. Have a question for you. What gun is best for bear? No gun, you should never give a gun to a bear. ( Lol )/. Happy New Year Sam!
I chuckle every time the mag falls out of that conversation it like a good comedy from a movie or something. Really appreciate you making these videos Sam and looking forward to the 45 super videos.
a good 180gr jhp loaded fairly warm in 44 is a great 2 leg stopper. the revolver's weight mitigates much of the recoil from the light bullet so follow ups are not an issue. as you showed. the more controlled expansion will give much better penetration but still dump all its impressive energy. but lets remember that we are taming a hunting cartridge not beefing up a self defense one
I know you do your comparisons based off of viewer comments. Of I was looking for the best bear defense I'd look for the best load in the 10mm and the best load for the 44mag. To me that's a fair test. I don't understand why some viewers think that shooting the max in one caliber vs. A watered down version of a different caliber is fair. I just don't understand it. But as usual a great video and fun to see the results . And as always you make learning fun. Take care Sam
Best in which aspects? This isn't top trumps. It's to get a good idea how they'll act keeping certain properties constant to watch for other factors. That's why weight and sectional density are kept close. Seeing 10mm & 44 Magnum you jump directly to bear defence while this is about use against bipeds. One is even called Anti-Personnel and for that you want 'watered down' instead of the highest recoil you can produce or what the frame barely can handle. It doesn't really matter one or the other caliber for bear as long as it's full copper or brass to not deform and penetrate.
As a long-time bullet caster and shooter...those .44 Mag loads are too hot for that bullet design, weight and hardness. That bullet would do better at 1100 to 1200 fps, I believe. They still won't penetrate all that deeply, but better than shown here, and you'd still get good expansion.

Sam, I do enjoy your vids. I like to see the comparisons. In the winter wear people tend to wear heavier clothing, especially coats, I like to carry Underwood's solid Copper Defender or penetrator rounds. During the summer months, I like hollow-point bullets. Here, in this test, The 44 Buffalo Bore did have a great energy dump! Impressive!
I really still like the 4 layers of denim as it probably represents winter clothing alright. Aside from the poly filling, people here in MI generally wear about 4 layers of stuff, undershirt, outer shirt then inside and outside of coat. In summer not so much, but it's better to make the test more difficult as if it does well with the denim it will always do well.

I wish Speer still made their old half-jacket SWC-HP 357 (146 gr.) and 44 Mag (225 grain) bullets. The jacket on the shank meant that even if the nose over-expanded and sheared off (like that 44 did through the MDF), the base stayed intact and penetrated sufficiently, acting like a wadcutter.
Thank you Sam! offer still stands if you want me to port/polish that conversion barrel like my factory M20 is. It just came to me that the case rim of a .45 auto is 0.480" and the case rim of a 10mm is 0.424", that is a lot of slop at the breach face.
Good time for this video to come across my feed, just got my 10mm barrel for my FK BRNO PSD today and was thinking about getting a couple boxes of the Buffalo Bore just to have. I'm not personally a big bore revolver person at all but mostly been watching your .32 revolver tests and definitely confirmed my want for a pocket revolver in .32 H&R or Long
I really appreciate the 44 mag videos. I have gotten a lot of crap for carrying it on occasion but this demonstrates that it doesn't overpenetrate with this load anyway. I have always had a feeling the 180 grain hollowpoints would do well for self defense. I have heard they tend not to exit deer when handgun hunting, so it seems like a good choice to me.
Hey brother , thanks for doing that! I have quite a few of those 44 mag 180s. Really been wanting to see you test them. Very interesting results. I agree with your conclusion. I have a Smith and Wesson 329PD & if I’m carrying it for personal self-defense I use Hornady critical defense 165 grain, they tend to hit that 12 to 18 inch penetration and give good expansion. Recoil is extremely mild. I thought about running those 180s for self-defense but after watching your video I might pass and keep the extra control that comes from less recoil. You made a good point, if that 180 strikes an arm or something else first you literally could get only a few inches of penetration, if that. I’ve noticed in gun fights that people don’t tend to stand perfectly still like the paper target does on the flat range, … just saying.
I was expecting equivalent energy dump. Surprised how much more the 44 moved that gel block. So functioned as designed. And yes I think you did quite well with follow up shots on that 44. I have seen some real life videos of people having to clear jams in their semi-autos or even police losing a magazine. If opponent had a revolver and was decent with it, would have beaten the other person to the first shot. Seems now a days multiple attackers, so extra capacity appears to be a must. Still love revolvers. Thinking about a light weight 5 or 6 shot 38+P as backup to a 357.
Ive been waiting for this I really like 10mm and considering getting a glock 20, or 29 this round seems perfect for self defense may have to go for the 20 with the longer barrel for recoil but that 29 would be so easy to pull out I don’t know
.44 mag too hot for my senior hands. 10mm not interested. But I did see a snowmobiler being charged by a bull moose and one shot put it down. In that case though, my take on that was, he f'd with the moose. He provoked that majestic animal. Okay, my interest is .38 spl, 9mm 44spl in short defensive CC revolvers and pistols. You do put a lot of work into these productions, not easy.
👍👍 Good stuff. Great to show-off the stark difference the 44 creates. As 10mm guy from the '90s I find it a bit sickening the current over hyping of the 10mm that's going on. Especially with how weak the majority of the ammo is loaded to.
That 44 may not be at all practical, but expanding to 90 caliber is damned impressive! I think I felt some pain just watching that. You've got to save up for the S&W 329PD! LOL.
Curious, I’ve never seen a snow penetration test. Looks like you have what you need. Just for giggles fill the Jug or Not box full of snow (no jugs, just snow) and see what happens.
Zip through like nothing. I used to tests stuff like that on snowmen and .22's when I was a kid. Now if it rained onto the snowman then froze a few days, the snowman stopped them lol
In 10mm I like the Underwood 165gr Gold Dot seems to get almost that magical 1300 fps even from G29 and do everything wanted. Hoping u will get to that On Target 9mm vs .357 soon and maybe "Are Reloads Good enough in SHTF Ammogaddon Times w that Atlanta Arms .357 HPs and" some other reload HPs. I've had light primer strikes from a reloaded but not from company like Atlanta Arms. Wonder how good other companies HP reloads are?
RE: Mag dump I think Paul Harrel would say " that is why I don't like Hyper Ammo " I agree ! Not long ago a guy had a dot shear off his S&W 10mm & wack him in the head , Chuke had an O light fly off his G20 at the bear sled . Too much of a good thing . I don't think their ammo was this hot ??
Yeah this ammo is just too much. My guess is a Glock 20 has just enough weight to tame the jolting, but in the 41 being a few ounces lighter, it's wiggling the mag bevels loose
@@GunSam I think it's too much for an auto , A 610 would be OK In a ruger Redhawk / Super Redhawk , Black hawk with 5.5" barrel , that is where it's in the ball park . Your in the cold .. what about 100+ degrees ?? HOT !!!
Just because someone made a cool box to put those 44s in doesn't mean they should sell em....Old fashioned Remington and Winchester over exotics everyday if your not shooting handloads👌
Mag rarely falls in .45 ACP stock setup. I think it's because 10mm is powerful and it's a light pistol. All the jolting causes the polymer mag bevel to somehow slip I think.
@@GunSam I was wondering about it because of the trouble you have with that 10mm conversation also because when you shot at the target how the mag kept falling
Get that conversion fixed/replaced. I know that it's enough for the gel or the box but testing strings to the steel is painful. Do you keep it to make a point? How about the new M&P 2.0 in 10mm? Chickendinner?
@@GunSam But you test the ammo. If you had a reliable 10mm you could say something about feeding issues of various rounds and you already like the M&Ps a lot. I'm not saying to show a different gun every week. Also it'd be a handgun fully designed for 10mm and you'd have different barrel lengths if you want to. No 10mm mag dump into gel either and the short series is popular.
I will have to keep looking for one. Generally when I get a new gun I will get something I have ammo for, tested in a different gun previously, so I don't have to buy ammo and spend my youtube cash on a new gun. Being able to fire 10 and 40 that I have, it might work out for cost if I can find one.
I watch all your videos so I know why you keep the Glock. But, every time I see it, I hear my Ma yelling to put on clean under ware before I pulled the Chevy out of the driveway.
I get why you use that Glock conversion for testing and all. But I still don't understand why someone who enjoys shooting to the point of having your own channel, doesn't want a decent shooting 10mm for themselves.
I'm betting that's a Gen 4 Glock with its' enlarged mag release button and you're accidentally hitting it during recoil. My Glock Store Double Diamond 4.6"10mm conversion barrel works great in my Gen 3 Model 21, like grass through a goose.
He mentions all the gremlins that gun has in every 10mm video because everyone has a remedy for it… Before I built my own PF45 in 10mm I converted my G21 gen 4 and had zero issues. He’s just unlucky as hell when it comes to that gun.
@@sonnygunz9207 Some people have no manner of luck whatsoever. The thick gloves in conjunction with the Gen 4s' noticeably larger mag release button is the culprit here....... With those gloves on I'll bet he couldn't feel the mag release when he accidentally hit it, although I have to admit.....there was a certain entertainment value the second time he dropped the mag.
@@GunSam this is a perfect time for me to tell you that I like your videos quite a bit, and I can't remember the last time I was this happy about being totally wrong. I do not believe 10 mm of that particular brand agrees with your particular setup of that Glock that you've been using I would try a different platform to fire the 10 mm see if you can try it from another revolver as well in 10 mm from a revolver as well !
because it serves the purpose of ballistic testing rather well as seen in the video. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend them unless its something like a .357 sig/.40sw conversion because they are basically the same pressures/case size. The reliability of the conversions is just not high enough to count on them for actual usage.
This 10mm would be a Great deer load out to 75 yds in a 6" S&W 610 or Ruger Super Redhawk , it's not a good carry round & a 6" 610 is more of a house / hunting gun .. not a Carry gun . For carry , a G 20 10mm with Silvertips or any of the great mid range ammo out there would work well if you want a 10mm for carry or a house/truck gun . This HOT 10mm load is not a good choice for an auto if you want it to work every time , it would Beat the $#!T out of it !!!
Use right bullets for right applications. i f I live in big bear country and for whatever reason don’t have a rifle or shot gun I would use any brand of wad cutter 18 -20 brittle hardcast 240-300 gr at 1100 feet per second for pure bone crushing power and good pass through for maximum efficiency on big dangerous animals. then not foolishly hunt intentionally a man eather with a short barreled, short stocked, under powered rifle at best. people have killed bears with 9 mm but why not carry a much better and efficient pistol , and for self defense and secondary defense against dangerous game . ask your self what’s your life worth.
180 grain 44 magnum = human 240grain 44 magnum = hunting
Ive been waiting for this I really like 10mm and considering getting a glock 20, or 29 this round seems perfect for self defense may have to go for the 20 with the longer barrel for recoil but that 29 would be so easy to pull out I don’t know
That .44 magnum load is good if you are worried about overpenetration...
Just a reminder; police get to spray and pray with very little, if any, repercussions. Citizens are responsible for every single projectile.
44 Mag, gets my attention every time!😎
.44 mag too hot for my senior hands.
I bought this revolver for .44 Special mostly!
Great pairing. Thanks
Good show,that ten was perfect.
👍👍 Good stuff. Great to show-off the stark difference the 44 creates. As 10mm guy from the '90s I find it a bit sickening the current over hyping of the 10mm that's going on. Especially with how weak the majority of the ammo is loaded to.
Interesting. Impressive impact on both. But the 44 was much more intense.
Cool video thanks. I have a Ruger 77/44 bolt rifle and 44 packs a punch 🥊 even in a rifle.
All I will say is wheel guns rock
That 44 may not be at all practical, but expanding to 90 caliber is damned impressive! I think I felt some pain just watching that. You've got to save up for the S&W 329PD! LOL.
No way lol.
Interesting. Thanks for your work and for sharing this video. Take care.
Thank you, take care.
Great video... 44mag for me hands down
Thanks
Both !!
I enjoyed this video, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
HOT !!!
Man I would love to see these same calibers tested in a bear defense style of testing maybe extra mdf, for the goal of maximum penetration
44 Magnum is just bad azz!
Great job
Thanks
Sir have you ever tested a .44 mag auto from Magnum Research using this ammo?
Curious about their 44 special anti-personnel load.
These semi automatic pistols cannot digest full power 10mm.I see other channels have jams with higher power factor 10mm.
The 10mm is closer to .41 magnum than .44 magnum, in a full house loading.
But....
Most factory 10mm arent full house loadings.
Just because someone made a cool box to put those 44s in doesn't mean they should sell em....Old fashioned Remington and Winchester over exotics everyday if your not shooting handloads👌
Good test.
Thanks.
Try a 22 lb recoil spring in that 41 with the conversion barrel. Got my long slide setup glock and kimber, both in 10, running the way they should.
How does the cold gel change penetration.
I don't know. If I used cold gel I would take notes. Seeing as I don't use cold gel I wouldn't know.
Could the problems with the mag falling out or even just moving a little lead up to some of the feed issues
A slow mo of the gun like Larry Vickers has done would show that 10mm doing crazy $#!T !!! Flexing ...
Get that conversion fixed/replaced. I know that it's enough for the gel or the box but testing strings to the steel is painful. Do you keep it to make a point? How about the new M&P 2.0 in 10mm? Chickendinner?
Your error is it's what you want, not what I want. I am ballistic testing, not gun testing. One bullet, into gel is the only requirement.
@@GunSam I must say it is a fast barrel !!!
@@GunSam
But you test the ammo.
That 10mm is likely Better in a strong REVOLVER 6" S&W 610 would be cool
I will have to keep looking for one. Generally when I get a new gun I will get something I have ammo for, tested in a different gun previously, so I don't have to buy ammo and spend my youtube cash on a new gun. Being able to fire 10 and 40 that I have, it might work out for cost if I can find one.
I feel like that’s too fast for a soft lead hollow point, I’m not surprised it exploded
👍
Both are great rounds, but 44 mag is awesome!
THAT 44 AIN'T NO JOKE 👀
Thinking about buying some of those 44’s 🤔
Neat.
I watch all your videos so I know why you keep the Glock. But, every time I see it, I hear my Ma yelling to put on clean under ware before I pulled the Chevy out of the driveway.
This is about halfway there of what I wanted to test myself in the near future but this is missing two elements !
The high energy dump and lack of penetration for the .44 mag. kinda sucks…..
Pretty sure is a 1 shot torso stop even against a crackhead.....
@@pkjdm it would blow out chunks of torsos and bones from any crackhead
I get why you use that Glock conversion for testing and all. But I still don't understand why someone who enjoys shooting to the point of having your own channel, doesn't want a decent shooting 10mm for themselves.
Because regular 10mm testing is something I don't do.
I'm betting that's a Gen 4 Glock with its' enlarged mag release button and you're accidentally hitting it during recoil.
My Glock Store Double Diamond 4.6"10mm conversion barrel works great in my Gen 3 Model 21, like grass through a goose.
He mentions all the gremlins that gun has in every 10mm video because everyone has a remedy for it…
Before I built my own PF45 in 10mm I converted my G21 gen 4 and had zero issues.
I don't use the stock mag button and it's also swapped to left hand to prevent me from touching it the way I shoot.
@@GunSam this is a perfect time for me to tell you that I like your videos quite a bit, and I can't remember the last time I was this happy about being totally wrong.
You're one of few gun channels who add an obstruction to similate striking a bone in your test. Thanks for rhe great video and ( no offense) .....dropping that mag was funny as hell.😆
I do not believe 10 mm of that particular brand agrees with your particular setup of that Glock that you've been using I would try a different platform to fire the 10 mm see if you can try it from another revolver as well in 10 mm from a revolver as well !
It's a ballistic test. What difference does it make? The round impacted at the velocity it should have. Your comment has nothing to do with what I do.
Maybe go pick up a Smith 610. 10MM and revolver win and win.
.91 inch expansion!!! I don't what to get shot by that.
On today's show we test 10 mm out of the glock panty dropper
Why do people by the Glock conversion junk? Other than dropping mags, jamma jamming every shot, and being inaccurate, it's a nice set-up.
because it serves the purpose of ballistic testing rather well as seen in the video. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend them unless its something like a .357 sig/.40sw conversion because they are basically the same pressures/case size. The reliability of the conversions is just not high enough to count on them for actual usage.
I love your videos, but please get a Glock G40 and maybe a 50AE Deagle😎.
I wouldn't want to get hit by either.
This HOT 10mm load is not a good choice for an auto if you want it to work every time , it would Beat the $#!T out of it !!!
...I'll take the .44...anything that can dump that much energy into a badguy is my kinda round...
Not a far test. Two very kind of bullets.
As commenter 10, what do I win? Another great video, hey I am okay with that.
Nana and papa
The .44 magnum round looks like a solid attempt to provide a self defense round for hand gun hunters. Essentially a home defense round.
Thought that was a quick mag change lol . Id take the 44 .anyday I handled the 10 in the service believe it was the bren 10 I didn't like the performance at all
Also just buy a real damn 10mm pistol I wanna be able to trust the reliability of ammunition. Glock 40 or m&p 10mm would be great 😊
none of my mostly stock Glocks have ever jammed I wouldn't use this ammo in my Glocks way too hot
I hope you do NOT carry that Glock 10mm for Self Defense..!! That gun has been nothing but problems for you for some time...
He said he only uses it for testing
Wow I can’t believe I’m watching a 44 Magnum fail FBI protocol in clear ballistics gel. Must be super soft lead with too much velocity. I bet hard cast would have sung right through that block. 10mm is no slouch.
And that is why I have multiple 44s and ZERO 10mms
44 magnum was a FAIL
