🇹🇷 SLAUGHTERHOUSE RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF TURKISH SLUM

While #exploring the #european district of #Istanbul and the surrounding slums and neighbourhoods, I was taken in by a young lad and his family off the #streets to view their #working and #living conditions. The scenes were quite horrific, and sad but eye-opening. This is how people earn a living in such deprived conditions. #supplyanddemand #economiccrisis #veganism
Before this event, however, my mission was to explore the slums and look for as many Gecekondu make-shift unregulated housing plots as possible. WHY? Because I believe the Gecekondu's are a big part of Istanbul's and Turkey's contemporary history relating to urbanization of the bigger cities. These unregulated DIY houses are slowly becoming extinct with the development of more modernised housing and infrastructure taking its place.
Join me as I wander the streets of Istanbul meeting the beautiful and perhaps misunderstood people of lower-income backgrounds, making friends and learning along the way.
