The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is alive in his grave in the sense of the life of al-barzakh, so he enjoys the blessings that Allah has prepared for him as a reward for his great good actions that he did in this world. But the life in the grave is not like the life of this world, or the life in the Hereafter. Rather it is the life of al-barzakh which comes in between his life in this world and his life in the Hereafter. Hence we know that he died as other Prophets and other people before him died. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die, and verily, they (too) will die” [al-Zumar 39:30]
Also, if his life is similar to everybody else, then what is the point of mentioning it rather it should have been stated that his life is similar to everybody else, but that is not the case
The bottom line is, we cannot comprehend the life of the profit in the grave, but clearly it is not like the life of others who have passed away that’s why it has to be mentioned separately with great detail
After Mohammad saw wafaat the first person send salawaat Allah return rouh of Nabi saw . is any second left that ummah is sending salawaat to nabi saw . Every second ummah is sendiing salawaat

Allah knows the best. But it’s hard to believe that if we or anyone else try to dig graves, Prophets gonna come out alive! It's most probably a metaphorical way of saying Prophets are alive, just like saying martyrs of Islam are also alive. Anyway, May Allah forgive us for our lack of understanding about this topic.
Allah clearly says in the Quran that you can’t comprehend the alive state of Shuhadah and Prophets are superior to Shaheed so they being alive in grave is real but beyond our. Comprehension.
