- It's a long ride from Galle to Colombo, then on to Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Badulla. Special features en route are the Demodata Curve: where the train passes through Demodara Station, then circles down the mountain to pass through a tunnel under the Station. Also Nine Arch Bridge is popular - the train stops there for 15 minutes so the tourists and locals can Swarm all over it and take selfies.
The Nuwara Eliya Highlands are where "Ceylon" tea comes from. It got called Ceylon because the Portuguese couldn't pronounced Sri Lanka, 500 years ago.
