- I just turned 30 years old, ran away from the city to renovate my grandfather's old house in the countryside who was thirty or forty years old, watching me slowly turn it into the most famous private tea garden and paradise in Mangshan, Sam Chau.

I have to do a lot of things I’ve not done before on my own. Not redoing a house by any means 😅 - good point regarding professionals. I’ve been working on my lawn tractor for three weekends in a row. If I’d hired a “professional” it would have been done in a hour or so. Frustrating. I felt bad for you when u said u were worthless. NO WAY - you provided these “uncles” a job in their old age, they made some money doing something they know far better then you. You’re also working securely to provide the materials needed. You’ve done a lot.
I appreciate folks that are willing to tackle those big projects are their own. I read in one of the comments, “Chinese are hard workers.” I’ve seen it many times over. Keep taking those breaks as needed!
It encourages me not to give up and get back out there. Thank you for sharing.

In the beginning it says you rent this place...so you're allowed to renovate like this on rented space, why not just buy it then?
In China you "lease" the property from the state and you agree to live on and maintain the property for a certain time.....
