One of the best scenes in the whole series. Been binge watching this for the past few weeks on Netflix. Everytime I re watch the series I realize I somehow forgot how great this show really is.
To be fair, Skinner WAS a member/tool/pawn of the conspiracy throughout most of the series - the fact that he somehow got away with playing both sides and balancing that razors-edge of staying IN the game without ever totally committing TO the game was both an impressive feat of storytelling and a raging contrivance of storytelling all at the same time - :) one that I loved right through the moment he put a bullet in Krycek's brain...
Best episode of the series definitely. I mean, I love all of the episodes, but as you said it, the way this whole sequence of events was executed was perfect. I can never get tired of watching this!!
Season 11 was decent though. Mythos eps were as flawed as usual, but the rest was solid. Great Mulder/Scully dynamic and the love between them is as strong and moving as ever.
Stretch it to the absolute end, and you have a winner. The scene with Mulder crying with mixed emotions over his father's death and loss of contact of his sister is so deeply moving. I must have watched it 100 times.
I love David Duchovny, but at least throughout the X-files - the worst on-screen cryer I've ever seen. I love watching him rage against bureaucracy, I love watching his tenderness with scully, I love watching his self-deprecating investigations of the paranormal - but when he tries to cry...shudder....
The scene following this is also perfect, along with this! The assassination of CSM and Blevins! Was glad to see CSM live and come back later on. The music and everything made the end of this episode perfect
The music in this and the following scene right after where the main antagonist is shot is the absolute finest of the series and perfectly portrays the edge-of-your-seat, shocking reveal. AMAZING!
One of the classic scenes, in the entire show. The looks on the faces of "The Third Man", Blevins, Skinner and Mulder were perfect. Especially the panicked look on Blevins face, as Mulder names him. Wish the Blevins assassination and Mulder and Skinner talking in the hospital, were included in this segment.
Also in that scene, The Cigarette Smoking Man was shot by a Syndicate hit man as well as Blevins being shot. Very powerful scenes as we're watching whoever's behind it covering up their tracks in real time. Powerful scenes indeed.
@@deanladue3151 - Oh yeah. With "The Third Man" shooting Blevins in Blevins Office, then planting the gun to make it look like a suicide was brilliant. The guy playing the "Third Man" got his name from the Pilot Episode, where Scully receives her new assignment from Blevins, and we see CSM for the first time. The guy got the moniker "The Third Man" because he was never identified in the Pilot Episode credits.
Loved the X-Files, however I feel like it was a grave mistake to kill off the Syndicate in Season 6; the series never felt the same without the mystery men always popping up in the background.
Sigh. Back when X-Files was good. The first episode of Season 10 is an insult to their previous work. What a shame. At least they did do good work before.
Thank you so much Netflix! I've forgotten how much I absolutely LOVED this show as a kid. I'm up to Season 6; gonna savor every last episode. I just wish the presentation onscreen was better but whatever, I'll take it regardless.
Tbf Skinner has protected Mulder throughout the whole series so Mulder knew he didn't do anything. So when Blevins asked him to lie about Skinner he guessed Blevins was the one.
I think he actually knew but pretended he guessed. I think the moment Mulder realised Blevins was a mole was when he asked Mulder to name Skinner at the hearing, Mulder realised that Blevins was trying to protect himself.
They wanted to make the most out of the 100th episode, and they succeeded. The reason Mulder picked Blevin was probably because he was dismissive when Mulder asked for proof that Skinner was behind all this

Здесь рассказывается про. То, что. Они надеяться, сделать то, что думают сделать. Они надеются про лабораторию редукс, почему редуксы называется это лаборатория создают? Создают эмбрионы. weird. Ill have to take a look. I ripped this clip from my DVD, and brought it into Premiere applying the same specs to the project setting. Oh well. I do know that the aspect ratio is different after season 4, that fact I am sure of.
+Daniel Louro I think Mulder knew when the section chief tried to manipulate him earlier in the episode. He said something like, "Blame everything on Skinner and I'll let you off the hook." I think Mulder put two and two together.
FBI Special Agent Fox William Mulder is a fictional character in the Fox science fiction-supernatural television series The X-Files, played by David Duchovny. Mulder's peers consider his (often correct) theories on extraterrestrial activity as spooky and far-fetched. With his FBI partner Dana Scully, he works in the X-Files office, which is concerned with cases with particularly mysterious or possibly paranormal circumstances that were left unsolved and shelved by the FBI. Mulder was a main character for the first seven seasons, but was limited to a recurring character for the following two seasons. He returns as a main character for the tenth and eleventh seasons. Mulder made his first appearance in the first season pilot episode, broadcast in 1993. Mulder believes in extraterrestrial unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and a government conspiracy to hide or deny the truth of their existence. Mulder considers the X-Files
Well, this was incredible, i just finished watching this episode and now i think the rest of the episodes wont be that much "mysterious" because of the cigarette man got killed, i hope im wrong but i found very interesting all that shit about cigarette man and the mysteries behind his work.
It should have been part of the clip, but "The Third Man" is in Blevins Office, on the telephone, when Blevins rushes in, in a panic, after Mulder names him. As Blevins runs to his desk, "The Third Man'" stands up and pulls a gun with a silencer from his pocket and kills Blevins. He then wipes his fingerprints off the gun and plants it in Blevins hand, making it look like a suicide.
One of the best scenes in the whole series. Been binge watching this for the past few weeks on Netflix. Everytime I re watch the series I realize I somehow forgot how great this show really is.
The world needs more Mulders and Scullys. ✊✊
I felt so bad for Skinner the whole time cause you could tell he thought Mulder was gonna call him out.
I even thought that he was!
Arguably one of the absolute best scenes in the entire show. Goosebumps every damn time.
Yes! Every time
And the scene right after this too! Jaw DROPPED
I agree! This was the peak of the series , in my opinion!
One of the most intense scenes in the show by far. Chris Carter is a genius. It's impossible to get enough of this show... it never gets old.
The look on Mulder's face at the end: "Mic drop"
A unbelievable scene and a great show.
Mulder's speech, Scully crying (Love you Ms Anderson

20 years later and they just couldn't top the cinematography of the original series
just one of many reasons why this is my ultimate favorite episode
Brilliant. This is my favorite scene on the X Files. I was sitting at the endge of my chair when i watched it the first time. It's so intense.

I think David Duchovny's acting is really underrated. He's just too subtle for some people to get it.

Looking at the current state of the US government and its bodies, with Mulders speech; it’s more true now than ever.
David Duchovny told the producers to end the series after s5 and make a few movies instead. They should have listened to him.
Season 7 was when the story was coming to its natural end. But alas, FOXs network greed saw to it that the show overstayed its welcome.
Way to go, Dave.
