    I think it started in 2018~ I remember living in Japan in 2018 and bubbles was selling a lot of jirai kei style clothes before it became like officially a ~thing~ like they sold those iconic rhinestone big black platform shoes, the pink and black and jirai-like hairstyles starting in 2018! I remember seeing girls with the pink MCM backpacks around shibuya 109 back then too so it mightve been the beginnings

      I definitely think the trends started showing around that time as well! I left Japan for a little while in autumn of 2018 and I remember the black and pink color pallet gaining traction and the more "punk" elements mixing with larme like those fishnet tights and stockings lol. Then in 2019 I heard the word jirai kei or jirai joshi for the first time. Thank you for providing your insight and unlocking a core memory of bubbles 😂

      Hello! Just wear what makes you happy and comfortable! Although there may be some negative image surrounding it, there are many people that just see it as a fashion and nothing more. It is like emo fashion, punk and goth in that sense! Just because there are some bad stereotypes, doesn't mean everyone in the community is bad or does those negative things. Just be careful💕

    I saw you in cybrgrl's interview the other day and am glad I came over, thank you for posting some Jirai Kei content! I've been interested in the fashion and started educating myself a bit first before anything else.. haha. I've been into Lolita for a few years but I totally agree w you that it is very high maintenance and just takes up so much space. For some reason, I've always been too anxious to get into any other J-Fashion because I've mainly worn Lolita to conventions and bigger events and tea parties but now I wanted to make it more like daily wear, but it's scary. Since I am in the bigger clothing size range doesn't help either so it always feels these kinds of fashion trends are made for thinner ladies. :') But hopefully, I can work up some courage to dress the way I want.
    Either way, thank you again Yumechi! :)

    I've been watching your stuff for a while and I always find it entertaining. I've been interested in Jirai Kei since November last year, but there were two issues that I had. One is the fact that I'm plus sized (120-ish cm in the bust) and there are very little brands that cater to my size. The other issue is that people in the west who hate the fashion tell me not to wear it because of the name. They say the name "Jirai Kei" is a slur and if I call myself that, I'm perpetuating stereotypes of women with mental illness. However, I have been called way worse. I have been called every mental disability related insult in the book, so I don't think being called a "landmine" would hurt me all that much.

    • @yumechi15
      @yumechi15  Год назад +3

      Sizing is very difficult for Jirai kei for sure! I recommend following @sweetiemilkybear on Instagram because she is a great role model for plus-size Jirai girls and knows the best places to buy jirai kei in plud sizes 😊. Jirai kei is just what it's called, and the only people who really use it negatively are men, like how bimbo fashion is a thing, but women who wear it don't care. Just wear what makes you happy and feel comfortable! Comfort is the most important thing. If you are comfortable in what you are wearing, people's perception of you will mean nothing. Also, I wear Jirai kei every day and have worn it every day since 2020, and no one has ever called me anything but kawaii lol

      I would say practice the make up first! There are lots of tutorials on youtube both in english and japanese. On instagram I would follow the zirai zyoshi account its like an instagram magazine for jirai kei. As for good starter brands I recommend Noemie and Dear my love. Dear my love is affordable, ships overseas and has a wide size range. Hope this helps!

      Hello! Being different is ok just remember your safty and comfort come first! I mainly buy from Japanese brands but they can be hard to buy outside of Japan. ma*rs and dear my love are both relatively inexpensive (compared to other brands) and ship internationally! Keep an eye out for things you can thrift or diy. Using a shopping service to buy from japanese mercari is also good. Good luck! Thank you💕💕💕

    Hello! I really like how you dress, and honestly I am new to jirai fashion. Do you have some tips where to order jirai clothes (can be a bit expensive brands too like dear my love or rojita) that ship outside of japan?

    • @yumechi15
      @yumechi15  Год назад +5

      Hello! Thank you so much! I hope you can have fun wearing jirai kei! Dear my love and Ma*rs are both pretty cheap (as far as jirai brands go) and ship overseas. Some select shops like devilinspired and everything cute club also sell items that work with jirai kei! Jirai kei is also very easy to thrift and DIY! If you find a white frilly blouse, you can find cute ribbon broachs on aliexpress or make your own! If you live in America brands like Kill Star and hot topic even sell items that work with jirai kei! If you ha e your heart set on Japanese brands then second hand on depop or using a shopping service to buy from Japanese mercari are good options. Just keep an eye out and be thrifty! Good luck!💕

I didnt know dear my love ships outside of japan… I probably got scared because the website was in japanese and i dont really know how to speak in japanese lol… Also I am really bad if it comes to diy clothes, I barely can make anything by myself, so i usually just buy the expensive ones because I have no fashion sense at all(still trying to figure out which style suits me and stuff) but tsym your answer helped me a lot, Have a nice day ! 💓💓💓
