I think you would appreciate Key’s conceptual approach vis-a-vis the MV, the costumes, the lyrics, the dancing much more in his song Gasoline. Key took control with that album to another level; in my opinion, it’s his masterpiece. Bound and Another Life also came out of that album, but check out Gasoline, the title track🔥🔥🔥
Key is another level. I hope someone put Gasoline in the requests. But all of SHINee is so very talented and their styles are very different. Love them
Key and Taemin love sprinkling MJ references into their styling & choreo! Also omg I'm so glad you've been enjoying Key's stuff recently. The members of SHINee really are all sooo special. The common consensus in the comments seems to be that you should watch Key's "Gasoline" next, and I 100% agree with that. I'd also like to plug Taemin's "Press Your Number," Onew's "Dice," and SHINee's "Married to the Music" because they all make my little filmmaker brain very happy.
Everything you see and hear with "Killer" has Key's signature stamp on it. It's his title track from his repackaged album, which is a follow up to his previous "Gasoline" MV and album. if you like "Killer", you will love all of his other solo songs as well. So far, he has 5 solo albums that all have a retro vibe, but because he is a member of SHINee, none of his songs are anything alike. There's a lot more to the story. To understand more of the story, you have to connect things from his other MVs, such as "Gasoline", "Bad Love" and "Hate That ...", etc. From his outfits to the backup dancers looks, to the set design and story concept, as well as the song lyrics, and the whole album -- including the album packaging -- was designed or chosen by him. Key is involved in the entire creative process when it comes to his solo work and everything you see and hear is what he envisioned for this entire album/repackage concept. Every aspect is all part of his design. Key said his style is more like retro '80s/'90s MTV, so that's the treatment they used to come up with his solo concepts and styles. Prior to this, the retro aesthetic is the look and feel he has had for all of his solo MVs and albums. And he only dove in deeper with the retro concept after he came back from the military. Even all the merchandise and album packaging that was designed to look like vintage toys and games, etc. were all conceptualized by him. I mean Key lives in the world of vintage-cool. He knows how to take a style and concept and own it. Since gaining artistic control of his solo releases with his "Bad Love" album, he has been building a whole world based on retro sci-fi TV shows/movies and comics, etc. Therefore, his storyline is connected between his MVs. When it comes to Key's solo stuff, you never have to question who was the stylist because I guarantee that it will always be him. Key is our fashionista of the group, who is SHINee's designer for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He has even been given the official title as SM's Director of Fashion, and he is often consulted on fashion trends when it comes to SM projects. He has gained a reputation for his fashion, so he is involved in all aspects of the styling for everything he does these days. And because Key was involved in creating the storyline for his MV, he was also involved in the whole look and feel, including clothing choices and costume design. I can see how you might think Key is harkening back to Michael Jackson with his "Thriller" reference and the one glove, etc. However, I don't think the one glove, etc. has any real symbolic significance beyond the fact that it was a style choice that Key made because he is always on trend, if not one step ahead, with everything he does. I'm sure the main reason he made the choices he made was because he thought it looked cool and went well with the aesthetic of the outfits he was wearing, as well as fit within the retro style of the whole project. (Michael just started a fashion trend that happens to still be cool today.) I interpret the song to be about how he is telling his former lover to "remember that I am the Killer," and I warned you that I was no good. Their relationship was like an action thriller, it started out as fun and full of excitement, but along the way things went wrong. Key was the one who ended the relationship and he is saying that he is the cause of all the toxicity. In other words, he is the bad guy and he wants the girl to remember that he is no good for her. They had their fun, but now he is done and he doesn't want to go back. He is also saying that in order to preserve all that is good about the girl they need to end their relationship because all he will do is cause her pain and ruin her life, etc. "Stop looking at me with those innocent eyes," you are making it hard for me to leave and I warned you before we even got started that I was no good. He can't help being bad because he is like a killer who is incapable of reciprocating her love, etc., so before things really go bad, they have to end their relationship. And in order to get over him, she needs to remember that "I'm the Killer." In other words, you might think you love me, but if you keep trying to hold on to what we had, you will only get "killed." He is saying he is incapable of giving her the love and affection that she deserves, so it's better for her to think of him as the bad guy and to end things before they get worse. As you are starting to discover, SHINee are known for having some of the best singers in all of Kpop. If you were to listen to Key singing a cappella while performing this intense choreograph for "Killer", he would sound just as flawless as in the MV. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted in 2008, all the members were teenagers -- Key was only 16 -- and they were one of the youngest groups at the time. However, even then, they were shocking everyone with their talent. SHINee was the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. And as you are discovering, they have only become even more impressive over the years. Key's solo work is the perfect example of what make him the complete package and demonstrates what it means to be a true artist. And although, as a member of SHINee, Key is considered one of the top vocalists in the industry, he is also a lead rapper. So, he can literally do it all. As you have seen, Key is an unbelievably skilled dancer, who can take any dance and make it his own. Now you have to check out Key's dance practices for "Killer." As the title of the song indicates, this choreography is killer and when you see it without any cuts or edits you will die. LOL (If you like this song, I recommend you also check out the dance practice for his B-side song from his Gasoline album called "Villain," which features Jeno from NCT-Dream as the rapper and a dancer.) SHINee are always on another level and they are constantly outdoing themselves with every new project. It amazes me after more than 15 years that SHINee can still continue to reinvent the Kpop industry with every new release, whether it's as a group project or one of the member's solos, and yet they do it every time without fail. SHINee are the originators and trendsetters of everything you see Kpop groups doing today. As you are starting to realize, with every new song and dance SHINee comes out with, it's expected to be different than the last. Therefore, you will never see the exact same style or sound from them in any of their songs or dances. Nothing you hear from them as a group, or the members' solos, will ever be exactly like anything you have ever seen or heard before and, yet, it will be very much "their style." They raise the bar even higher with every performance. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D
I respectfully disagree with your opinion on the MJ connection. The choreography has a lot of similar silhouettes with Thriller. The use of fog and the lighting in the video is also reminiscent of Thriller. Looking at the album art itself, to me KEY is very overtly influenced by MJ in the best ways.
The first time this decade??? 😮 I was able to recite the lines of that whole movie by the time I was 10 lol 😆 it's in my top 5 favorite movies of all times
This video made my day! I had to pause ALL THE THINGS to watch cuz I’ve been looking forward to your reaction to this video. Killer is my favorite song of all time and favorite album. It’s so smooth!!!
I love when he really2 stand up and be firm with his ideas and concepts especially in his album 'Bad Love' he really2 know what he want, and how to put all his ideas in album concept, music colors , fashion/ costumes, the whole theme etc.. for me personally, his song ' Bad love' really2 potrays his strength in vocal, his creativities in album concepts and costumes etc...
The reason why Killer sounds similar to Bad Love because they're both part of a 3-album series that had the retro theme. Bad Love was the 1st then this was the 3rd. Gasoline was the 2nd and you should check that one out too! It's not quite similar in terms of sound but the aesthetic is kind of 90s as well.
I rewatched theV and im now rewatching the reactions to Killer sixne its been a year since its release 🩵 I don't think Roscoe has reacted to Gasoline yet? I'm looking forward to that reaction 😅
I'd like to see Roscoe's reaction to "DICE" by Onew, SHINee leader. Onew has one of the best voices in Kpop. SHINee band mates were approx. 18 when MJ died, so SHINee members grew up with MJ influence. MJ is Taemin's hero. Key is very bright. He speaks at least 4 languages.
Hi Roscoe. Please please react to Gasoline by Key. It's my fave. He serves up some sickening looks in the mv! The budget had to be astronomical. Pleeeeeease!✨
Leader Onew turns 34 this Dec. Jonghyun would have been this age too April past. Key and Minho are the same age which is 32. And Taemin is now 30. Taemins new album will be out at the end of this month entitled guilty. Key is king of concepts and choreography

Damn I forgot how good Key's solo stuff is ❤
Key is also a artisic director in sm
Key is such an awesome artist. He's involved in so many parts of his craft and he's a master at it all.
I absolutely adore Key. I think Director Roscoe would appreciate his song "Gasoline" ❤
What a versatile artist !
Key always kill it, he is The Killer...! 🗝️👑
Key es genial
Check out Easy and Another Life by Key // his dance practices for Villain and Bound are so good too. Thanks for the Key reaction. He is amazing.
Key LOVES retro and a few of his songs will give you that especially off the Gasoline album and for me the song Bad Love really gives retro vibe.

Agree but why did your filmmaker brain not add Onew's Blue too? The MV is the most filmesque to me

I gotta listen to some Key on my commute home tonight! 💛
Ugh so good!! I love Key so much!! You have to check out his song with Taeyeon. It's called "Hate that.."

At this point (especially with Key & Taemin) Shinee is just making the music MJ would have made if he was alive (and younger) today 😄
