Thanks Miss Anna! Getting ready to start a Crabapple Hill pattern and had no idea how to do the fabric coloring! Spot on! Nice and easy! Thanks Anna!!!!!!
Just discovered Meg Hawkey, AND your earlier videos. Thanks for the tip about getting on a wait list for her classes. Would love to get into one of her retreats.
Anna, you gave me the courage to try this type of embroidery. You make it look so easy! We'll see how I do! lol. Thanks for doing these videos! Love watching you.
Thanks for this video. I think I will do this for my grand children's Christmas ornaments this year. I will try. I have my great grand twins due Dec 2nd so I now I have double the projects for them. LOL It will be a joy to do this.
Hi Anna. Great tutorial. I am also stitching in our RV this week. We are in Ocean City at Ocean Mist RV Resort. I have tried fabric coloring using different techniques with various results. I like the method of mixing embroidery with crayon dyeing. Will be trying it!
is it foggy? it was so foggy when we were there...don't miss Gig Harbor or La Conner...the museum in La Conner has a absolutely beautiful Japanese applique exhibit. I think this method has real potential :) have fun!
love that!!! Although class are fun for the social aspect and you do learn so much...it can get expensive and passing on ones knowledge allows more of us to enjoy!
How to find your continued work on the bell. I’d like to see how your did the stitch and finished the bell. Also, what is that which is holing your needle ? I’m newer to embroidery and wonder if I need whatever that is. Lol
I gifted that piece so no longer have it to show❤️ I am guessing that I am using an embroidery hoop… there is a huge variety and I have several different kinds to fit my needs❤️
Great tutorial on the coloring effects,,,but I'm wondering which Crayola crayons you're using, fabric crayons ? washable crayons? or the regular school crayons? maybe I missed that info,,,ha ha, I'll have to watch again 😄
Regular Crayola crayons. Because you use so much more white than other colors, Hallmark was selling single white crayons last year. Nice to have several extras.
from what I learned at Crabapple Hill it is permanent. As for laundering...most of these are wall hangings and will never be laundered but I suppose if you used the technique on a quilt that will be laundered I would try is on a test piece with mild soap and delicate cycle :) let me know!
I followed your video and then created a colored embroidery from a free coloring page. Can’t figure out how to upload a photo of it for you. Perhaps G could help?
I ALSO USE FA BRIC ON CLOTHESN I LIKE TO USE COLORS Mrkrsn also EMBOREY MY PIECES THEY TURN OUT VERY PRETTY I DONT.MINE ALL THE WORK I PUT ON IT BUT.VERY NICE TURN OUT
I think you can get them at office supplies, some quilt shops and for sure mail order from Crabapple Hill Studios...the important thing is to be sure it is the ultra fine :)
Una vez que el color de su tela lo cubre con una toalla de papel. A continuación, utilice un hierro seco en la toalla de papel de hierro hasta que no se desprenda el color en la toalla de papel. Espero que esto ayude
Why not fuse the pellon to the back of the fabric before coloring so that the fabric won't move while coloring? It helps stabilize the fabric to make it easier to do the coloring.
this is a good idea...but what I have noticed is that the tiny bumpy service of the Pellon does show through when coloring. I like it because it looks a little textured.

I WOULD USE THE 1O1 I LIKE IT BETTER THAN FREEZER PAPER
WHAT SIZE ARE YOUR BLOCK
When I do crayon embroidery I iron freezer paper to the back. This gives the fabric stability, just remove before ironing.
great tip! Thank you!
Great tutorial. Thank you. You just saved me $24.00 from taking a course, and I need to save as much money as I can
love that!!! Although class are fun for the social aspect and you do learn so much...it can get expensive and passing on ones knowledge allows more of us to enjoy!
Thanks for all the great information Anna.
you welcome...passing on the quilting mojo :)

I want to fill in some areas on a project I have already embroidered?
Oh this is pretty!
Is your fabric base laundered before starting? Thank you for a great video!
I always launder my fabric except if it come in a block of the month...the chemical sometimes make my allergies react.
Quilt Roadies thank you!!

I saw a pad on your sewing machine under your thread. How did you make it or where did you get it.
if you are talking about the little Dresden thread cozy it is a free pattern on the Featherweight sewing machine board :)
Do you know How long the crayon coloring last? When using this technique does the item need to be laundered differently?

I will let you know. Thanks for the quick reply. I enjoy your videos.
Who was the designer for bell pattern? If possible, can you give designer's name and website. Also I am really enjoying your videos. Thanks!
The designer is my friend Debbie and she has her own on line shop...you can find her on her blog, woolnsails.blogspot.com/ have fun!
I followed your video and then created a colored embroidery from a free coloring page. Can’t figure out how to upload a photo of it for you. Perhaps G could help?
ohhhh I can't wait to see it! I think you take a photo then load it to your photos on the computer then just attach to the email!?
So we're supposed to think outside the box but color within the lines, right?

It's almost 'mixed media' stitching!
LOL!

I fuse my fabric to freezer paper to color and to stabilize it then when done coloring I just peel it off and continue.
