    ALERT…Please be aware that there are people trying to impersonate myself using my picture and similar name pretending to be me. My name has been verified (and will show a dark color around it) and there will always be a check next to it. They are making comments and leaving contact information for you to respond to. They are sometimes mentioning WhatApp phone numbers, Telegram, and other Platforms. They commonly will try to sell you some type of therapy or herbs. Please Do Not send money in any way for services, for consulting, charity, and donations. Only deal with a reputable company. Many people have been scammed already unfortunately. Please report these people. Thank you.

    About 4 years ago I started adding K2-mk7 for my mother and myself. While at my mother's next scheduled appointment w/her cardiologist I mentioned that she was now taking the K2-mk7 and the doc asks me why do I have her on vitamin K.
    I tell him for the redistribution of calcium, to keep it out of her arteries. He immediately says "No, it has nothing to do with calcium - she shouldn't be taking it." I tell him It's K2-mk7...not K1, but he just repeats what he said and instructs her to stop taking it.

    He's right on needing magnesium and vitamin K1 & 2. But I'm surprised that doc didnt mention calcium carbonate as the worst culprit for clogging arteries. This form of calcium isnt absorbed by the body and is used in nut milks to "boost" the calcium content of their product. Nut milks naturally have some calcium, but not as much as dairy products. Adding calcium carbonate is a marketing ploy that is actually dangerous for your health.

    • @talk2deb
      @talk2deb Год назад +48

      Correct! Calcium Carbonate is bad for us. Years ago my Dr. actually gave me a coupon for a certain brand, it was Calcium Carbonate. I never bought that product. An informative article on Pubmed- ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of calcium supplementation’ -calcium studies suggested that dietary calcium is more beneficial for health than calcium supplements and that it is also easier to absorb ~ as our Dr. Mandell advises 👍🏽

I told her I had stopped it, since calcium supplements may harm my body. I informed her that my heart was pounding & I could feel pain in chest along with other symptoms just a few weeks after started on Caltrate. She didn't address my concerns. I've been taking K2 supplements for almost 2 yrs & she is ok with that. I'll try eating more calcium rich foods & may not take Caltrate supplements. The transformation is kind of incredible, as of maybe 6 weeks ago I could not kneel on my left knee because the pain was intense. It is painless now. I recommend anyone with arthritis to try it for a couple months, the other upside is that it is likely clearing up soft tissue calcification throughout your body.

    Thank you excellent advice. Also important to note that calcium is always moving in and out of the bones to balance blood pH, so we want to eat more alkaline then acidic foods. Eg. Meat and dairy are considered acidic. Of course fact check what I'm saying, I'm no expert. Has also been said milk is not a great source of calcium because it causes the body to release more calcium to balance the acidity that it causes, vs broccoli which provides calcium without any deficit because it does not raise acidity. Tony Robbins does a good talk on the alkaline diet.

    Around 5 years ago and for quite a while I was getting chronic cramps in my toes/calves. Back then I was low sodium, never used salt, and didn't have any salt in the house.
    I tried supplementing calcium & magnesium, without any positive effect. Little did I know back then that supplementing calcium is a bad idea. Fortunately, I didn't do it for long and there was no damage.
    I subsequently changed to a low carb diet and because of that diet, I knew the body dumps sodium, and I started adding salt to my food. Cramps totally gone. If I don't take enough salt, the cramps return and a bit of salted water fixes that within 15 minutes. My blood pressure is great; I've never had a negative blood pressure effect from salt.
    If you are vegan, as I was for a while (coincidentally when my cramps were worst), bear in mind that obtaining calcium from a vegan diet can be 'difficult' even if the food contains calcium. Many plant foods with calcium have phytates and oxalates which will bind strongly with that minerals, so you do not get so much of them. Calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium. Whilst the same thing happens for sodium, most people can easily add some extra sodium to their diet if necessary.
