You are a great instructor Tom! The ‘oops’ turned into an excellent teaching moment.

Thank you so much for all the "mistakes ". You have e shown that we are all human and even the "experts" are not perfect all the time which let's us mere mortals feel better about our oopsie moments. 😊

Oh I am far from being an expert, just a passionate crafter that likes to share :-) Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the tip about protecting the corner of the ruler when squaring up!

Happy to help! Hopefully it will save other people's corners as it too late for mine :-)

Remember, if I was walking by and looking at the quilt on display, I would not see the little stitching errors!
    The block came out BEAUTIFULLY!
The mistakes are better than the first!
Easier and only two sets of half triangles ❣️

I’ve watched this like three times and I still don’t know how it should have looked. But I love it !

Tom, a great video. I think you should call the block "Tom's 8 pointed star".

I love the outcome. We all make those mistakes from time to time

We do indeed, so we have to learn to roll with the punches and make the best of it. Thanks for watching!

A clearly perfect trimmer was a game changer for me as most quilts have 1/2 square triangles

I have seen that but i try not to buy tools if I already have something that does the job. Not sure how long that wil last but it does look like a great tool to have.

Love this block Tom. I don't stress about points that aren't quite there anymore. As they say it will come out in the Wash ( or Quilting!.) Would like to see what you do with the Cross quilt idea.🥰

Thanks for the comment. I confess I am not usually that bothered myself either except when it's the centre of a block as my eyes always go straight to it. Normally I would just leave it :-) The cross is on the list of things to think about so we'll see how far it goes.

So where did you put the 3 1/2” background squares? I think you got two blocks mixed up. There was a different block that uses 8 half square triangles just like you made, but I guess it’s in an upcoming month. I like the original block so I think I will use my scraps to make it as it was originally planned. Still a good lesson tho, thanks Tom.

I didn' tuse them in this block. I've put them aside for another project. There is a similar block but different colourway aroud 10 or 11, but different enough. Happy Sewing!

The email hasn't gone out yet but in the next week or so. Wanted to get the video out on time and not be delayed by the email.
