1996 Mercedes S600 Coupe - ADS Diagnosis Using Mercedes HHT !

Have a 1996 Mercedes S600 around today with an ADS failure that defaulted the car to full stiff. Using an original Mercedes HHT, I diagnose the car's fault to be the drivers side (LF) body acceleration sensor. Part number on the sensor is 000 542 22 18, with an updated replacement number being 000 905 6502.
A dealer "diagnosed" the car as having a bad steering sensor and wanted to replace it along with all 3 acceleration sensors to a tune of just around $1500 with labor! As far as I know, as of 2016 updates to their Xentry/DAS systems, they're unable to connect to these older cars. Shame.
