@helga pataki kpop is just a label , and i agree with you. Why not called them korean idol group and some korean rock band or pop band. This kpop label is suck, some korean band makes music and people say their style is different from other idol, please duh, they are band not idols, no dancing ! Haha

Because if it idol group maybe the members only sing,rap and dance but if it band maybe the members not only good at singing,rapping and playing instrumens

So as a long time Kpop/Krock fan this phenomenon was explained years ago when CNblue and FT Island were first trying to break into the industry, and basically nothing has changed since then we just don't talk about it anymore. So the issue is that the music competition shows are not set up for live bands - they have the microphones for the singers, but they can't handle the instruments (they don't have the right sound equipment and it takes too much time to set up the instruments with the equipment for them to play live). This means they are expected to pretend to play their instruments and even if they do play live what the TV viewers hear is the prerecorded tracks with live vocals (just like with the pop groups). This lead to a lot of hate for bands because people assume they are fake - that they can only sing and can't actually play. Unfortunately it is a take it or leave it scenario with the shows so the bands just suck it up because they have to if they want screen time. Day6 was the first band to break the pattern by convincing JYP to let them release a song a month and go busking or perform mini concerts for an entire year instead of going on the music shows to establish a fanbase that knew they could actually play. When the year was up, however, they ended up back on music shows and still can't play live. The music shows have no interest in spending the money to correct the sound systems or adjust the schedule to allow for set up time, and the Korean fanbase for this style of rock isn't large enough for the shows to listen to. Sadly a lot of good bands end up disbanding if they don't have a big company behind them (even SMtown couldn't keep their band together - TRAX only has 2 members left and rarely releases anything). There does seem to be a resurgence of interest in bands though, and Day6, the Rose, and Onewe seem like they have a better shot at survival than some of their predecessors.

What an excellent goal! Some of the little guide compilation videos are pretty good. And of course there's the pre-debut reality show they did with ONEUS (We Shall Debut - the first 4 episodes are just ONEUS, then ONEWE join them from Episode 5 onward).
In case it helps....
Yonghoon is the leader, main vocalist, oldest. Gets roasted a lot by the others for being old and crying a lot, but he is also super good-nature and takes it all in stride.
Harin is the drummer -- also the disciplined best cook/cleaner, total sweetheart, very dorky dancer, completely the opposite of a bad boy.
Kanghyun is the guitarist (has been blond for most of the last couple of years). He is a bookworm and quiet intellectual. Kanghyun actually wrote this song (Regulus) based on the story of The Little Prince!
Cya (pronounced like Kia) is the rapper and bassist. Despite being the maknae, he's quite mature and has already produced a lot of music, both with ONEWE and independently, as well as many collaborations with the ONEUS rapline (you can check out his SoundCloud: "latecya").
Dongmyeong is the keyboardist and a vocalist. He is the brightest person ever, total mischief wrapped in the sunniest smile you've ever seen. His twin brother is Xion of ONEUS. Dongmyeong made it to the final of The Unit and is actually a pretty good dancer!
They have been friends since they were quite young (Cya and Dongmyeong grew up in the same apartment building), and they all formed the band themselves in middle school!

Thanks for the pronunciation of Cya too, I've been pronouncing it as 'Seeya'. I've pretty much been able to tell them all apart and know what their role is in the band but memorizing Kangyun, and Dongmyeong's names is what Im struggling with atm. Sometimes i add a g at the end of the yonghoon's name (I think its because of ATEEZ's Hongjoong and the fact that if you kinda just switch around the letters their names are very similar). Anyways, again, thank you so much for taking your time to do this for me and other new fans. May I ask if we have a fandom name?

KaMa DaLlama They joined ‘the unit’ before, you can see them dancing especially dongmyeong, he made it to the finals. They are the only band joint in the show
Dongmyeong was on Produce 101 Season 2. He was injured during the group battle and was eliminated right after that.

There’s something so new and fresh and unique about onewe. It’s like a combo of rockish and regular rapping and abit of a Ballad song. It just works so damn well. I feel lowkey addicted to thier music.

But always among 1 to 3 vocalist do the singing and in most of songs just 1 singer or 2 sing all the song (ft island, cnblue, day6, ect) woosungie always sing a lot and he had so many lines and in Red he song almost all the song! But these guys all sing... even a little part! and they do the rap too! That was new and yeah the rose was the first band that I saw most of the member singing in songs and that's why I am black rose!

와 이 노래 만든 사람은 이런 명곡을 내놨는데 더 안알려져서 가슴 아리고 분통 터질 듯
이제야 알았지만 내가 다 답답하네 멜로디도 개좋은데 가사가 진짜 말이 안됨 생각하면서 들을 수록 가사 쓴 사람이 얼마나 깊이 생각하고 사색했을지 현대 시를 읽고 있는 것 같음
Yonghoon- Main Vocalist/Leader, that old member who somehow act like the youngest, the last member to join MAS/ONEWE, he's a handsome man with a Beautiful voice.
Dongmyeong- Piano/Lead Vocalist/Happy Virus of the group, the actual jolly kid of the group who can be a part of an idol group, he almost got into UnB together with Hangyul as they made it to the final announcement but guess they have more blessings to come.
CyA- Bass/Rapper/Youngest, you might think he's the cute member of the group but he's actually more mature than other members in some ways.
Kanghyun- The handsome, Actor looking Guitarist who seemed to be a model but decided to be a band member because he got the talents to show off. He can play other instruments. Genius right?
Harin- That Bad*ss looking hot man on the drums but is actually soft and a target for teasing, lol. He's the chef of the group and is a Boyfriend material I tell you.
They are formed not by an agency but because they know each other as neighbours and decided to form a band. It only means they are not into business but are into pursuing their passion for music, please do support this amazing people and stream their videos, stages and Vlives. I had been waiting for them for long, and now that they got to debut again to showcase their talent, I won't just sit back, let's promote good music.

@@aaa-tm6sf they are not splitted up. ONEUS is their brother IDOL group while they are the BAND group. ONEUS consists of 6 members and their maknae is Dongmyeong's twin brother named Dongju also known for his stage name Xion. The twin's Vlive is one of my favorite, you guys should check it😂
Also, Dongmyeong Joined PD 101 S2 with the other members of Oneus. And the whole band joined the Uni+ back when they are still by the name of MAS, Dongmyeong stabled at rank number 13 but didn't made it to top 9 to be a part of UnB, he was with Hangyul of X1, Ji Hansol of Newkidd(former NCT member), Jun of UKiss, Chan of Ace and Hojung of Hotshots. They are my favorite team, they won the certain part wherein they can release the track 'All day' , check The Hunams/All day team on the Uni+ please😭

I learned that such a wish can be dangerous, because the more known the the group is the more they are pushed to be liked in the US and to achive that some groups lose theire own style on the way and do english songs, so that you nearly can't recognise them anymore. That is really sad.😔

@Rianza De Wet well you're right, their promoting does suck now that I think about it. it did take a few years for even their most vocally talented and charismatic group to get some recognition and popularity.
Well on another note I still appreciate the company for the artistic freedom they lend their artists and I'm still in love with their stylists. The talents they have in their company are on another level, and their CEO has a sense of humor. The management and promoting does indeed need work but I'm looking at the positive side :)
@@lono9436 Don't take complaints of bad management seriously. These are comments from people without a business background and deep understanding of their actual management. They see a fraction of the whole picture and make bold generalizations. This is true whether or not it's RBW that we're talking about.
As it currently stands, their artists are well promoted imo: MAMAMOO, ONEUS, and ONEWE. Even Vromance, whom have not been very successful are still promoted (with a recent MV release), whereas many agencies would have thrown them into the dungeon already. Their CEO explicitly stated that ONEWE would be following an underground approach to promoting, following discussions with all of the members, because he believes that the traditional grand debut style of boy groups would probably not work well for krock (which is not very popular in South Korea, comparatively). He has asked them for their understanding and trust, which they have affirmed. ONEWE debuted not too long ago, and yet they've already been able to release a comeback mini-album.
As for your comment about taking a few years to gain recognition and popularity... RBW was a relatively new and small company at the time that they debuted MAMAMOO (their first and only group at the time). Large companies like SM, YG, and JYP will debut groups with huge fan followings to begin with, but not small, relatively unknown companies. Hence, it is unfair to expect MAMAMOO to become popular so quickly. The kpop industry is still focused on visuals and choreography. Vocal groups don't receive as much recognition and are still rare in the kpop market by comparison (partly why Vromance was not successful). It was through MAMAMOO's hard work that they garnered the recognition that they have today. This took time, because they weren't immediately gifted with a large audience from company brand name alone.

I feel like a lot of fans are unlearning how to enjoy slower songs. This one is pretty chill, and I’m worried a lot of fans are starting to think songs have to be really crazy to be good.
It's called different tastes not all like ballads and the same way not all like crazy songs. I don't know them I clicked the song as it's recommended and I loved it, and don't know what kind of songs they used to made maybe many liked their older style nd/or don't like current.
Sometime the simple one is the complex one... with more listening we find more layer of depth to this song, untul we found its beauty 😊

I agree on people's tastes being subjective, but that being said, it does always feel weird to me when someone says something like "I only like music I can dance to". It's kind of like: Well...your loss.

In THE UNIT, they said they were just neighbors and childhood friends who loved music and so they walked their dream on stage under the name “MAS” which the music is so limited to them as they didn’t have a company (they firstly formed this band by themselves). Finally, they’re under RBW, a brother of Oneus and MAMAMOO. I love their true talents and I hope people stop sleeping on them.

I want Onewe to get the recognition they so deserve especially since technically they are seniors to a lot of bigger groups since they did debut on a music show and with music as MAS back in 2015. I know they're likely to suffer like a lot of other Korean bands (Day6, N.Flying, The Rose) when it comes to recognition and wins because we're no longer in the times where bands were well loved like FT Island and CNBlue

K-bands have so many good songs with deep meaningful lyrics but not many people know about them and that's sad. I wish they were more popular

@@Say_a_Lie some of the ones I like are: The Rose, Day6, Lucy, W24, FT Island, CNBlue, Hyukoh, N.Flying, IZ, Bursters, Rolling Quartz and of course Onewe. There's also a sub unit of BAE 173 ( a k-pop boy group) called H&D They are not a band but a duet, their music is also really good.

@@Say_a_Lie Just to mention some bands that the previous poster didn't mention. Jaurim and Nell are older bands, formed in the 90s but they're so so good and unique, and still active till date. Jannabi was formed in 2014 but they're so so good too, Surl is so good too, they debuted in 2018.
These groups I mentioned all have very unique sounds, which isn't a surprise because that's the standard with k bands, I hope you get to check them out. Enjoy!
