The 4K presentation of 2001 is absolutely min-blowingly STUNNING! Probably still the best-looking 4K disc/transfer/presentation I have even seen yet!
2001 Space Odyssey might be the more iconic film but Apollo 13 is the more watchable one. My favorite part of these movie vault box sets is the CD size digi-pak folders that hold the movies. I wish all movies came in these size of cases. They look great on the shelf and the space you save.
Ken!!! You deserve to give 2001 another spin. Try and take in the moment where the rover lands on the moon base. That scene is so amazing. No cg. Looks absolutely perfect. The doors open up slowly, the pod descends into the base, and wonder ensues. The red, the multiple control rooms with actors moving around. So detailed

Great unboxing, love this set and worth the collection. This film is just breathtaking, it was made 1969 but still much better than many sc-fi today. Probably the best sci-fi even in history.
This shows just how little most US distributors care about putting together quality releases or even ones made of quality materials.
Compare that EXORCIST US edition vs. that limited UK edition. The UK gets a massive Umbrella/ Second Sight-level boxed set and we get a piddly steelbook. Disgraceful.

Are you kidding me? I didn't know anything like this existed and certainly never heard of Vault movie collections. I was looking up Apollo 13 4k review and this vid showed up. Instant sub! That 2001 Space Odyssey looks beautiful and I will hunt for it asap. It was also an amazing movie, and quite moving. I deeply regret getting rid of my VHS collection. Anyway, I could certainly see myself collecting the classics like this, Scarface, Goodfellas, and of course Jaws. But could imagine if all 3 of The Godfathers existed in this beautiful boxed format? It's kind of sad that it doesn't and maybe it does, but I doubt it's not.
Edit: Ah, it's late and my mind was thinking of 2010: A Space Odyssey. 2001 is the Kubrick one I saw but don't remember it. I wonder how often these vault sets get released and what's next?
2001 is the most iconic masterpiece of the 20th century. But I already own the 4k edition and previous blu ray releases. That's enough.
Obviously not this fancy, but every one of the films that's come out in this new line, I already have on 4K.
I'm hesitant to these boxsets, they're a bit much for me personally 😆. Gotta say though that 2001 one is tempting.
These are actually out in the Nordics as well, officially. Usually this kind of stuff is UK only, but I have the Jaws one and am waiting for 2001. I assumed that they were the usual imports, but the covers are actually different and the distributor is our usual one.
Got my Apollo 13 set yesterday and before I opened it I could hear the plaque sliding around inside which tells me the inside is damaged much like many the sets they released last year. They still have not addressed that problem.
I don't even bother trying to get these. They sell out so goddamn fast they're practically gone before they're even announced. That EXORCIST UK limited lasted longer than any of these.

I've been looking at mantalab sets and cannot justify the prices I'm seeing. In the $hundreds. These seem more reasonable, I need that 2001: A space odyssey!

Is the Remastered Audio the default track, or is the Original mix?
Those are beautiful but too much for me but if they released a Beetlejuice, An American Werewolf In London, or The Howling I would buy them.
I couldn’t justify it but I would anyway.
The Blu-rays should be region free for that price unless it’s license issues.
2001 should have been limited to 9000 copies.
I would like to have these but being in my 60s the grandchildren will probably toss them which is ok if someone like this community would find them and enjoy them 😊
Those are some sweet looking sets. Too rich for me, but they look great. Also they've been sold out for a good while now. It seems like by the time I find out about them they're long gone.
It’s so crazy they are sending out free copies for RUclips reviews when it’s so hard and extremely expensive for ordinary consumers to get their hands on these in the first place. Very peculiar strategy.
Peculiar but it has merit. What I think is foolish is to draw from the limited run instead of some unnumbered sets specifically FOR reviewers. If Ken's was unnumbered it'd be less disturbing and somewhat cooler.
Totally agree - especially when you go to their site and every box set is sold out, so it's not like they need to advertise.
These are all sold out domestically…so again I don’t understand the marketing strategy of sending these to American RUclipsrs for free to review when most people can’t even get their hands on them. Super cringe actually

@@frommatorav1 I don't bother spending $20 to go to the movie theater when I know I'm going to buy the Bluray.
I have mixed feelings on these. I got 3 of 4 of wave 1 (Blade Runner sold out but already have a nice collectable 4k set of Blade Runner anyway so no biggy). These are definitely bling heavy and substance lite (I..E nothing new in terms of transfer,sound or special features. Also they are quite expensive and hard to get. As you said Jaws pretty much immediately sold out unless you pre ordered way in advance. Wouldn't mind Shawshank and Apollo 13 for the packaging (already have a nice 4k edition of 2001 and Jaws is too expensive on secondary market). But since I have a standard 4k of Apollo 13 and Shawshank with exactly the same content it is not something I'm probably going to rush to pick up. Definitely for the uber collector and not for everyone. They are nice for what they are and I guess there's a target audience but I'm probably unlikely to collect these unless there is a specific film I really really love and want a fancy edition of.

You'll have to switch it to US on the Zavi site. Should be an option up top to do so.
This set is only available on the UK zavvi site, not on the US site. The UK site won’t ship to the US so I have no idea how I’m supposed to import this set
Those are awful pretty. It was really hard for me to pass on that 2001 but with so much out and coming we always have difficult choices to make. I do have the Blade Runner and Scarface Vaults.
They worth the money? I'd like to think so.
@Theomite That is a very difficult question to answer. It's person by person movie by movie. For the vast majority Id guess probably not. The only reason I got the Blade Runner and Scarface is that they are special films to me for and at the time I could squeeze them in the budget. Double dipping is problematic.
