    Yep, ETM is on the PL-360 and PL-365 too. Excellent feature, but it takes several minutes to execute the function. Once complete, you can easily tune through all the available SW broadcast stations, which is very nice. I already have the PL-360 and PL-365, and I'm impatiently waiting on delivery of the PL-368. Excellent little radio series for day trips and picnics, and even world travel. Better than the huge field radio that I've dragged around the planet!!

    Lovin this Pl-368, battery seems to last quite a ling time but the keypad and form factor make this a keeper.

    It just stands up on the base. Not very secure outdoors on a windy day, but no problem with no wind.

    I have a 368. It is my very first short wave receiver. Its kind of ok, not great, but just ok. However, this might be due to the fact I do amateur radio and have multi thousand dollar ham radios and so I am spoiled with those high end features, noise reduction, etc.... but I wanted a simple hand held reciever for shortwave and for its price it doesn't let down! The SSB features work very well on them.

    Lovely radio but I have a serious problem with my PL-368 with fw version 3682, the other day I had it on charge, when I took it off charge and turned it on the AM section (MW,LW,SW) was completely deaf...even using the "hidden" feature by long pressing 3 for internal vs external antenna made no difference, it's completely useless now (except FM is fine) so is there was way to reset this radio?

    What's the battery life?

    • @radioaxe6964
      @radioaxe6964  Год назад +1

      It's surprisingly very good. I haven't specifically measured it. However, I'd estimate around 20 hours, maybe more. Recharge is easy via standard 5v USB charger.

    Does this radio support CW modulation?

    • @radioaxe6964
      @radioaxe6964  3 года назад +2

      No specific CW mode, however does have an effective narrow 500Hz bandwidth in SSB mode which is cool.

    Thanks for the video and the description.
    Im using the Tercsun PL-365 for more than 2 Years and i want to buy also this Receiver.
    But i am not sure if the difference is too tiny to buy it.
    The greatest different is without any doubt the new number keypad, for the quick direct frequency input.

    Hi mate, so what is it like on FM, MW and SW? Is the battery life ok?
    I have the pl680 but thinking of buying one for the kit bag, would you recommend?

    • @radioaxe6964
      @radioaxe6964  3 года назад +3

      For its size, it's great on all modes and all bands. Battery life is excellent. Much better than the PL-365. For increased SW performance clip on a long wire antenna. I would defiantly recommend it if you are after something small and light with direct entry.

    • @markplott4820
      @markplott4820 3 года назад +4

      Laurence - FM is ok, can't really DX with it, AM broadcast is good, included AM antenna helps, you can DX in AM with a Magnet Loop antenna 📡.
      for short wave you want the antenna fully extended & use a clip on Long Wire use indoors & outside.

    • @soldierloz
      @soldierloz 3 года назад +1

      @@markplott4820 thanks Mark! That’s great. Currently have one coming so really looking forward to trying it out. I opted for the orange edition - a bit different.

    • @radioaxe6964

  • @sigint99

    Just got mine. First impressions:
    Lightweight - feels like no battery is installed
    Numeric keypad is nice but small. Not sure how long it will last.
    Frequency display is smaller and backlight looks a bit dimmed.
    FM reception is good and MW/LW reception a bit below par and needs the ferrite bar antenna for better reception. Sensitivity varies a bit but the audio is solid.
    SW reception is much the same as the PL-365. Sensitive and reasonably selective.
    SSB tuning is more refined at 10Hz but still has AGC pumping and harsh audio.
    It's great to be able to enter frequencies directly.
    BL-5C battery is ok. Some might prefer AA's. Mainly preppers.
    Keypad layout is slightly different. No BFO button and the inclusion of a SSB/AM button.
    Sjnce the manual is in Chinese one has to guess a few things.
    Orange color looks nice.
    Overall a good but not essential upgrade from the PL-365.

    The PL-365 uses "double As" or AA batteries, not "triple As" or AAA batteries. There's a giant difference in terms of emergency preparedness when the principle is to standardize on AA batteries for everything (as much as possible). This difference will make or break the inclusion of such a device in the emergency kit.

    Poor review: What we want to know is the receiver sensitivity; Audio output and distortion level; any noise rejection (noise blanker; active or passive), selectivity or adjacent channel rejection. These are the most important specs. I'm still waiting to find out these specs.
