Bare knuckle fighting is literally safer than boxing. It’s repeated head hits that cause CTE, not isolated hits like in slap fighting although it’s definitely not good for you. I’d love to see him back up some proof that slapping someone 3 times in a match is worse than taking a couple hundred subconcussive blows like in boxing.

I think a distinction you can make here is that Brian would not suggest it to be “fit” for an untrained male or female to fight a UFC fighter or a boxer, because they would inevitably be subject to significant trauma.
Some pro fighters end a fight in 30 seconds and see little damage, due to skill.
Pro or otherwise, all competitors in slap fighting will receive trauma irrelevant of what they do. This is the nuance.

    • @zeuseygastony6385

I'm an IT consultant in my 30s and looking to do some MMA and kickboxing amateur bouts. A lot of my training time is focused on _not_ getting punched. I really do not want to get punched in the head unnecessarily. I don't worry about breaking a shin, dislocating an elbow, cracking a rib .. those things heal, even if I'm never 99% with a broken leg, I'll be 98% and can live my life normally. Of course I don't want that to happen, but still, not the worst thing imaginable.
But one can't live their lives normally with a traumatic head injury that turns into CTE over time. I'm not even that worried that I end up knocked out in my first amateur fight, but I am worried that I get unnecessarily damage to the head time after time in training. That's what I don't want to get.
This slap "fighting" thing is the silliest thing I've ever seen. Even bare knuckled boxing isn't near as bad.

There's also a 'saying' in boxing and MMA - "it's the punches you don't see that for the damage." With Powerslap, the competitors know when the slap is coming, giving them time to prepare, which makes Powerslap a much safer sport than other combat sports like boxing and MMA.
