The best thing about being a car person is when you’re working on your car and a random person goes up to you and appreciates the car. Best feeling ever, doesn’t matter how old, new or brand, always appreciate the car.
Middle of the street is dragging it lol. Also I’d rather work on it in random spots than my crib, I don’t want people to easily see where I live. There’s always gonna be creeps that care so much to do research but I’m not gonna be blatantly hanging out right in front.
@@PressurePlayerStudioThis is not true. Nothing is voided unless that is proven to be what caused the damage. Having said that, you should only run conservative tubes in warranty.
Im in the same position..... JB4, Dahler, or RC for my M3 G80 CompXD..... The Dahler is more expensive, but it also monitors different sensors(MAP, TMAP, CamPos, & FuelRail), so I feel like it has a more diverse array of data points, at least more data points thats not boost or airflow related. So perhaps a more rounded way to be more specific or detailed with how they can improve performance. BUT..... no OBD port so Im not sure what data points the JB4 unit extracts from the OBD port that actually is used within its performance improvement mechanisms/model. Videos like this and others that directly compare options are great for those in the market. While we'd all like a real flash tune, thats just not practical for the vast majority of us, at least at the moment. One thing I do like about the JB4 though is the ability to read codes and erase them. We have seen the dahler dyno results via KM, but other than that there isnt much information or reviews online about Dahler unit. They dont have a social media presence, and Ive emailed them twice asking a few questions and no one has responded yet, which is a bit concerning. Comparatively JB4 always responds to questions about their unit. Its a major decision, and the most important part is to improve performance in a manner that does not negatively impact reliability, to do so in a safe manner. The Dahler unit just got a bump in the race.... Hopefully a more detailed review with the JB4 on different maps is to quickly follow, for a more detailed comparison. Thanks for the content!
@@r.f464 Technically any tune will void your warranty. I know a BMW mechanic however and he said(Ive also read this elsewhere) if you do add a tune or tuning module, to disconnect and drive the car for 30+ minutes and make sure to turn the car off afterwards, then turn the car back on and drive to the dealership. I suppose the data logging can only hold so much data, so 30+minutes of driving will fill that data capacity. Im not 100% sure if this is real/factual or not... But I suppose it is logical... The car does produce a lot of data, and one would think there has to be a limit to how much history it can hold in its data bank/logging... So to be safe, drive the car for a day or two before you would take it into the dealership, and drive the car for 30+ minutes before you turn it in, to error on the side of caution, and push as much OEM data through the log as possible... Perhaps that may(or may not) suffice... Dahler does not offer a module for the 2019 540i, so RaceChip or JB4 would be the two best options. RaceChip also offers up to a $10K supplemental warranty with their product. TBH, Im not very familiar with the 540i, Ive only research the G42 & G80, as those are the only two cars that I was interested in purchasing. But its almost 2023, so its likely your warranty is very close to expiring anyway, so just hold off until it expires if its that important to you. If not, then since the ECU is not locked, I would think a custom tune would be the best option, should you choose that path. If I purchased the G42, I would have likely chosen the JB4, because it seems there is bigger delta of gains with that setup compared to Dahler with the B58.2. However with the G80+G82 Dahler's unit offers a 100WHP+ improvement, which I think is good enough to give the car a bit more edge, esp when its combined with a few performance mods(Intake, Downpipes, Performance Exhaust, Heat Exchanger, upgraded spark plugs & ignition coils) and a few gallons of E85.. With that setup, you should be able to get approx 680WHP... Which is just about 40WHP less than a ECU unlock & custom tune... IM not a street racer, so thats a healthy & safe level of improvement, and still be one of the fastest cars on the road.. 680WHP in a AWD platform, thats winning at life, haha.. Whatever path you choose is best for you, goodluck & enjoy your car!

Curious how you liked the JB4 vs Dahler. I had a new LCI M340i ordered but it's stuck in shipping hell down in mexico with no delivery in sight and my tesla lease was up so I had to bounce from that and find something else. I ended up finding a unicorn. 2022 fully loaded + extras X3M Competition with about 7000 purely highway miles garage queen. Professionally paint corrected and ceramic coated, dinan exhaust, Evolution Racewerks midpipe and RK intakes. Marina bay blue metallic paint, Tartufo leather interior, carbon/alcantara steering wheel, carbon center console, carbon side mirror caps, battery tender wired up, dash cam, etc. Got it for literally exactly what the M340 was going to cost. As a dad of 2 and gigging musician who got tired REAL fast of playing tetris with PA equipment in the tesla at 2AM in the bar parking lots after shows, I feel like this was 100% the right move. Piggyback tune is maybe the only thing I am considering and we have E at the station right by my house so that's the only reason I'm leaning JB4 vs Dahler.
You won’t void your warranty unless the dealer can prove it was the cause for any specific part failure. I always put mine back to stock when I send my m240i or f80 for some service. Have not had any issues so far and the service manager told me personally it won’t be an issue unless you heavily modify the engine and send it in for service with everything still on.
N @JaCkYoHoUsE The dealership will flag his VIN as their system will detect the flash. Unless there is an issue that requires stock parameters, the dealership will not reflash the ECU to stock. Warranty will be in jeopardy though, i.e. if something bad happens to the engine, and the vehicle is flagged for a tune, BMW can opt out of that warranty work and the repairs will come at the expense of the owner. Maintenace will remain standard but warranties may be voided.
I think you're wasting your time with all these piggyback tunes. The timing is trash on JB4, I wouldn't want to see that much correction in my logs. Bite the bullet, send that DME out to Femto and call it a day.
