  • I explain why the anime Noragami deserves more love and what I enjoy most about the series. This is an attempt to get more people to read the Noragami manga, because it is excellent. I also make a couple comparisons between Noragami, Hunter X Hunter, and Demon Slayer. I discuss how the story and characters create an exceptional narrative. I attempt not to spoil everything. Again, you should read the Noragami manga.

One quick thing, MAPPA never animated Noragami Studio Bones did. Bones left Noragami to do MHA. This was a great video! I super agree. Noragami and Yato deserve so much love.

That editing part for yukine’s introduction was really well done. Maybe I am just nostalgic, but Yukine evolved so much throughout the story. I haven’t read the manga, but Yukine’s growth touched my heart every single time I rewatch the series. Your love for Yukine as a character I can hear it in your voice. Every once in a while I just check back looking for Noragami 3. It’s like trying to remember a beautiful dream that you had. I really wish they get season 3 or at least the manga gets a worthy ending.

God I love noragami. I have only watched the anime and it shot up to my top 5 right below vinland saga, mob psycho, one piece and gintama. Real quick thing tho. If you have the time and dedication. Watch all of gintama. Because if you love noragami, gintama will become your favorite. Because noragami is heavily inspiered from gintama. Sorry about that little rant but watch gintama if you got the time for it.
My favorite scene from the noragami anime is when yato is attacking bishamons little home with her people. You know that arc. It was a scene where hiyori and kazuma were riding on kinki and kazuma said something along the lines of: "Through these hard times we need to keep up our smiles for bishamon like always" and hiyori follows up with: "Bishamon handles things differently from yato. Yato is quick to complain at the slightest hint of pain. Yukine also makes his best effort to share his feelings too. Sure it leads to blickering but the pain is easier once shared. It's like theyre a real family you know." Which just sums up why I love the show so much. It has mastered what I like to call "the vibes"

I have watched some of Gintama an eternity ago, but haven’t finished. I always meant to watch more but got distracted by other shows. I’ll keep it more in mind. Also yes, that scene in the show is so lovely. The character relationships in noragami are top tier!

My favorite shonen and one of my favorite mangas. Thanks for talking about it! I also recommend Adachitoka previous work, ALIVE: The final Evolution. Not as good in my opinion, but definitely worth reading. And you can also notice from where some of Noragami's concepts and main thematics came from.

Am I the only one who thought the story really fell apart of the year long hiatus?
I hated how Nora was cast away from father, immediately forgiven, then betrays Yato again.
A hated how Kazuma ended up Yato's Shinki.
I hated that Yato abandoned Yukine and allowed him to fall into father's hands.
The first half was so beautiful I loved it.
The second half made me question if I still even live the series.
I read it for 8 plus years, and not a single tear was shead during the last chapter.
    I was left numb.

I am not sure how to feel about Noragami. I tried a few years ago to get into it, but it is complicated.
I had a friend or a girl I thought was my friend at the time and the series kinda came between us. I wasn't picking up on certain things quick enough for her. Like characters like Yato's reasons for things, characters background, power scaling...
She kept saying that I was "trying to control her OC's" which was a lie, I was just tired of wasting time on endless crying and arguing about stuff that was important and just wanted to have fun.
She would write these chapters where you could have a funny light hearted moment or a kick ass fight and her focus was solely on showing how sad her characters were, how long they could cry for and making sure that her readers and friends knew that this was "real sorrow, real misery..." it got pretty old pretty fast.
But she decided that crying was more important.
I am not bashing if you like it though. I don't hate on people's choice

Also I think the stray gods name is even more appropriate when you consider every god who's on Yato's side is essentially heaven's reject. It's also the only one I've read which features the history of Japan's genocide and imperialism over the Ainu people (see the Emishi gods who are as powerless as they are BECAUSE of said genocide...this also means Nana was literally a dead warrior who fought and lost to said imperialism). I don't know enough about the history and Adachitaka's views to have a clear analysis on it, but I think there are much bigger scale themes beyond their individual traumas. Like, actually knowing the father's identity fully and tying him into the symbolism could make or break my feelings on it, the fact it features Japanese history in such a prominent and critical way, while not focusing on American imperialism(which is often in stories which don't portray the history of Japanese imperialism in Hokkaido and the likes) makes me think this is supposed to be a heavy part of the story's themes/purpose. Like the gods it features are literally only separated into mainstream gods derived from shinto, who may have incorporated aspects of Buddhism and Hinduism but are primarily Japanese, the Emishi who explain how Gods who exit the fold are brought back in line, and gods like Ebisu, Vina and Yato with his father as a strange in between for humans/gods. Surely it's not chance?
