It's weird how genuinely invested I personally feel in you achieving this goal after watching your videos for three years. Amazing stuff. And totally deserved. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love these race reports... those of us who have been doing this for years, or decades, at Grandma's and everywhere else, find so many relatable moments in your video, making us smile, tear up, laugh, and feel all of richness and gifts of living that marathoning brings to us... Thank you
It’s amazing to hear how you overcame those early discomforts and doubts. It’s so very true (based on my 3 to date) that all marathons hurt in the end. I hope you eventually get Dean Karnazes’ book “Road to Sparta” to at least read the final chapter in which he speaks as eloquently about the marathon as anyone possible could. I wish I could quote it all here but it’s a chapter, not a paragraph or even a single page. I can’t recommend it enough, and it played a role in inspiring me to attempt my first marathon. Martha
You’re adventure runs/ races are by far some of the best content out there. The story you tell in the videos let’s us the Kofuzi-ans feel like we’re right there with you. Continue to do your thang and let us follow 🤜🏾🤛🏻
The views on these have been low, but I love making them and love watching them. I believe in the format, but I know there’s more work to do. I appreciate the support!
As a runner of indifferent talent who is also chasing that elusive first sub-3, I am symultaneously absolutely delighted for you and incredibly jealous of your success. I got so close with my last race, finishing in 3:01:02 on a hot day. Worse, I've just had COVID and my next race in 7 weeks is probably not going to be a realistic opportunity, so I won't get another decent chance for another 12 months given my race schedule. All this said, your vid shows it IS possible and I am foaming at the mouth to get out there, get running and have another crack at it.
I was curious to watch some race reports from this past weekend and was surprised to see myself in a video! I remember coming up behind you around the 10K while you were recording and thinking "Huh. I might be in that guy's video. That's gotta be difficult to carry a GoPro for a marathon." Congrats on the achievement! I just found out about you, but it seems like you're a great liaison for the running community.
I love how “the something is in the something” is a long time inside joke for the live stream listeners. It’s a little nugget, and I appreciate that you put that in, Ko!!!
Bloody brilliant Mike, brought back memories of my first sub 3 after many attempts. I had goosebumps & tears just watching. Congrats that’s something to cherish 😊
Thanks, Ko, for this. Ran my first half few months back and regretted not getting the time I trained and was ready for because of the same feelings you describe at 9:53 to 9:58. The mile markers weren't frequent in that race. Finished and was not even tired, felt like a long run so I definitely let myself be held back by negative thoughts. 10:24 on is extremely inspiring and teaching for me. Congratulations on Sub 3!
congratulations Michael I saw you at the race and you looked ready to go. fantastic recap of the race happy for you and your achievement on breaking 3hrs in the marathon 👏
Motivation for training all summer moving up into my first marathon in Chicago this summer. Running and training in the summer heat in South FL. THE SUCCESS IS IN THE JOURNEY… thank you for the fresh reminder.
Riveting storytelling. Truly felt like an active participant in the event. Especially appreciated the commentary of the achievement being underwhelming. It’s really about all the successes and failures to reach that apex. Onto the next challenge!!
K! Reddit was talking about you! That's how I learned about the sub 3, congratulations! "Saving yourself for a later part of the race is but a desert oasis." You learn this years into running. Music at the restaurant 👌🏼.
Hey Mike, did not know you ran Grandmas until I started watching your videos! My daughter and I also ran Grandmas and are now heading to NYC in a couple weeks! What a great day we had for this race, right! Anyway thanks for another nice video. Great to relive that weekend! BQ’s for both my daughter and will see you in Boston 2023!
Amazing video! Was really looking forward to the report on the race after the last video with race footage and it delivered in spades! Nice job on the marathon once again. You are fast!
Dude, this is so inspiring! Especially after my struggles at yesterday's Des Plaines River Trail Marathon where I finished but came up short of my race goal. Seeing this reassures me that if I continue to work that I will eventually reach my race goals! I appreciate your videos very much
Congratulations on the Sub 3!!!! Just an outstanding and emotional recap of the race. Thanks for inspiring us all to do greater things then we think possible!!!
Another great Marathon recap which I enjoy, I enjoyed this one even more as we saw someone achieving their goals and realizing their potential we done Mike 🏃
Congrats again! I said congrat yesterday in the live chat already. Ben was an amazing friend for the whole trip and run. He was definitely there for you to encourage you when you needed him. I’m glad you captured this buildup and huge winning moment in your life that will be cherished for many years. Great job in your perseverance in your training to get to this level!
Amazing. One of your best video ever. Really liked it. I’m about to run my first 80k ultra-marathon in two weeks and your video gave me the motivation I needed. Thanks for this.
Great video to watch Kofuzi, thanks for all the inspiring videos, sub. 3 hour marathon, congratulations 👏 you deserve every bit of happy celebrations, look forward to the full race recap, 👊🏼🥳🌲👍🏃🏽♂️🌿😀
So inspiring. Hard work and persistence really does pay off. Congratulations on the amazing achievement. The journey really is everything, but getting a bit of validation must feel like a cherry on top. Here's to the next big goal, whatever that may be!
Last year's solo Iowa trail run was Best Movie of the year. This weekend felt like the Part II thrilling conclusion. What a journey to Sub 3 - Great achievement and Great Show.
Very honest account; I think you’ve really conquered the mental side to achieve this. I think you’ve had the physical capability for a while it’s a massive achievement. Well done 👍 👏🏃♂️
Congrats on your sub 3 ! inspiring to watch your journey and take your last learnings as this past weekends Triumph. Hope your resting well on your tour
Was watching your video as I’m thinking about doing grandma’s marathon next year, then you mentioned your wife is from Dyersville and country junction. I live just a few miles from town, great place but sadly closed down. Anyways, keep it up 🤙
You totally earned that achievement! So much sweat and training throughout the years. It’s great to see you achieve your goal! And catch that flight home!
My parents came over for the race and we went to Costco. $1.50 hotdog is now my go-to for a pre-race since I ran a 6 min PR. 😂🤮 It was a tough but rewarding day for sure. Way to fight for your sub 3!
Great video Mike. That little voice telling me to stop always gets me in the Marathon, gotta figure a way of not listening to it. Congrats on the sub 3.
Congratulations on your PR, Kofuzi! I ran the race as well and was hoping to see you at some point through the weekend. However, I am about an hour slower at the moment. Maybe next time. Keep up the great videos - they are super inspirational and helpful. Thank you for all that you do!
Congratulations again Mike! Really great to hear how you had to battle through from early on. It shows how marathons are a mental battle and not just about physical performance. Curious about your choice of the Rabbit half tights for this marathon over the Janji half tights you ran the 10 mile in? Is there anything about the Rabbits that you prefer over the Janjis? I would think the Janji tights have more gel capacity for marathons? Do you feel the Rabbits are cooler or more airy?
Great series of videos capturing your marathon experience, even the grueling nature of it. Also I don't understand that ASICS shoe, just by looking at it it looks like an inverted running shoe, the stack height looks like it at the front of the shoe and drops downwards towards the heel. Weird.
@@kofuzi I wish I was fit enough to be a racer 🤣 I'm just a daily jogger using Nike Invincible Runs to absorb the punishment. Channels like your own are definitely inspiring me to run longer and get fitter. 👍
I think Ben is a complete gentleman. He backed off and let you cross 1st as a true pacer. Congrats again.
A good person. Minnesota Nice doesn’t do him justice.
It's weird how genuinely invested I personally feel in you achieving this goal after watching your videos for three years. Amazing stuff. And totally deserved. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for your support!
You know this video will be on repeat for me all the way to Chicago in October 😏 Such a great recap!!
Your fitness is there. Keep going!
This will help me when I walk a 5k in October. Congrats!!

Don’t know what the next goal is yet, but I’m not in a rush
Your. Narration. Voice. Always. Cracks. Me. Up. hahahahha. Love you dude. So happy for your sub-3 experience!!!!
usually, people tell me that my voice puts them to sleep
Running Grandma’s this year as my first marathon ever. IDK, maybe I have watched this masterpiece 50 times already as a mental preparation ❤🎉
have a great race!

Mike broke 3 hours and became a poet in describing the experience and I’m here for it all the way
Yeas I noticed a different approach this time. Seems scripted and yet cool

Wow what an epic video. Bravo 👏🏼
Incredible you make it without hit "the wall" after all the signs. Respect!
that is all due to Ben's pacing

yes grandmas is a fun event as i mentioned in another video of yours did it this year and plan to go back for more in 2024
That’s great to hear!
Good that you did make to the airport on time and pity that you didnt have much time to celebrate your first sub3.
Awesome video 😍
Awesome Mike! Food is Fuel !
I did a lot of fueling

Well done! You should be proud of your achievement! I need your training program to attempt a sub 3 hour marathon!
Lots of threshold mile repeats with short recovery and long runs with big chunks of marathon effort miles
congratulations Kofuzi. you deserve this and much more. ps. are the close captions for this video turned off?
It’s a recent upload. I think it takes a while for the auto generated captions to appear

Of course
Congrats on your successful sub3!!
Question : did Ben threw his handheld bottle?
Grandma's was magic, we got so lucky with the weather, the mostly tailwind, etc. Congrats on your sub 3! (I also had a good race, 3.5 min PR)
