    BONUS TIP: The night before the exam, try creating mini-outlines for each of the 3 essays. Categories like your intro, context, thesis, evidence, specific commentary... etc. Same idea as the one at 1:02 -- but make each part as specific and personalized to YOU.
    The act of creating this and then reading it will internalize it within your brain. Thus, you can recall the KEY OBJECTIVES you need to hit when you actually write your essays (feel free to quickly replicate this outline on exam day as well).
    Best of luck on your exam!

    Hey y’all, I took the exam last year and got a 5, so these are some of my tips as well!
    For the synthesis and argument essay, ADD A COUNTER ARGUMENT. Make it one short paragraph, and it’s a guaranteed sophistication point. For the essays in general, do not focus on writing a good essay, focus on writing an essay that gets you the points. As long as you state evidence and explain it, even if it’s like a five year old, you will get the points!
    Best of luck y’all!!

    • @PrepworksEducation
      @PrepworksEducation  Month ago +6

    Here’s what I gathered. For question 3 always use historic examples, for question 1 focus on what the author wants the audience to feel and for question 2 because painfully redundant do not leave anything up to be inferred

    • @PrepworksEducation
      @PrepworksEducation  Month ago +3

      Focus more on the content for the essays and don’t worry too much about having perfect grammar/sentences that flow super well - it’s possible to get the sophistication for AMAZING writing… but it’s so subjective that it’s not worth it unless you are naturally gifted writer.
      So, write like you would on a LEQ/DBQ - just pure content and grind. Objectiveness. As long as any mechanical errors do not majorly interfere with comprehension, there will be no penalty for writing in this style.

    @winterbree-ze Month ago +1

    ah so do you just do the synthesis essay like you would a dbq but instead of the "hipp" analysis, you would connect how it relates to other documents? also how would you incorporate the counterarguments so it's not just so random. sorry I have another question, what would you recommend putting in the conclusion?? (thank you so much for the helpful vid)

    • @PrepworksEducation
      @PrepworksEducation  Month ago +2

      Pretty much like a DBQ! Try to identify a core theme to the counterargument early on and stick with it -- this is most likely the direct opposite of what you are arguing for but can vary. After explaining the doc + connecting it to another, try using one of these transitions:
      "Some might argue that..."
      "Critics of this position claim..."
      "It is true that..."
      "Admittedly..."
      "While it’s often said that..."
      You'll want to "minimize" the opponent's claim with concessive language that acknowledges the other side but still downplays the impact/validity -- that's because you'll want to follow up with a refutation! The AP graders do not award the sophistication point for merely references/phrases so taking this extra step shows them that it is an integral part of your argument.
      Edit: I wouldn't worry about the conclusion -- there's no explicit points for it. Focus on the other parts and if you have spare time at the end, think about future implications / address the counterarguments in further detail.
      You may also consider rephrasing your main points and explicitly mention any sophistication you addressed within your overall essay... helps you end on a good note + just in case the grader is skimming!

    • @artistically_pain3876

  • @molly7222
    @molly7222 Month ago +1

    For synthesis, is it wise to use the docs and your OWN evidence u bring in (like evidence in argumentation: novels, history, experiences) and like make an argument tying it all in together??

    • @galacticgizmo3975
      @galacticgizmo3975 Month ago

      Try and use all 7 docs it’s also your voice so feel free to add outside sources but wait till you finish all of your essays first, think of it as like an AP world DBQ except more explaining and more your attitude

    • @PrepworksEducation
      @PrepworksEducation  Month ago +1

      As long as you fulfill these criteria:
      "Provides specific evidence from at least three of the provided sources to support all claims in a line of reasoning."
      "Consistently explains how the evidence supports a line of reasoning." [for all 3+ docs]
      So, you MUST use 3 docs minimum. I would definitely consider using your own outside evidence within the line of reasoning / further expand on your initial analysis. HOWEVER, ensure that you complete the synthesization of the documents themselves before you utilize your own evidence to potentially get that sophistication point.

      Doc C says ____. [insert analysis to topic sentence]. These ideas directly corroborate with the ____ within Doc D because _____ - emphasizing [something relating back to thesis].
      You could even go on to talk about counter arguments and why that is important in relation to your thesis.
