He’s a rad dude I’ve never heard of on my favorite company. Plus he has a real job, supports a family, surfs and shapes his own boards. Positive attitude and an inspiration. What’s not to like?! He’s killing it!!
I can say personally from growing up skating pittsburgh, of all the people who could have made a career of skating (skill wise) im glad it was austin! The times we skated with him he was always personable, always remembered your name, and just had great vibes! Some the other dudes who hung around him had bad attitudes, were cocky, wouldnt even look your direction unless you were a pro to suck up to, or frequented the shop they all rode for. Most of them fell off which is fine cause they didnt have the people skills to make a career last anyways. Survival of the fittest came out right with austin, perfect ambassador for reppin Pittsburgh, evan smith as well! Also a great dude.
I met him on the trip he took to Asheville, NC. Amazing skater and an overall good human. Very humble. Destroys skateboarding. Instantly was a fan. I witnessed him do a flawless kickflip over a driveway gap. Glad to see him thriving and prospering. Him and Jake.
Move to New Zealand we have a huge housing shortage and no covid. Perhaps may harm the pro skating but definitely make a ton of money building/ being a a foreman. Inspirational dude.
@@kalanicook1 Australia or New Zealand still both great places for a man like this. I'm not sure how the trademen go in Ozzy ATM but here they are now very very well paid.
@@scottc2276 kiwis are the best people I have ever known I love them with all my heart, and most of my mates are bloody huge bastards compared to the Australians so they’re good scaffolders!! :)
such a good dude! I remember skating with this cat at B Cubed skatepark in moon with the funk bros! I knew he would go pro from a young age! Wish the funk bros would have followed!!! Pittsburgh REP!
I’m glad ur allowed to surf and skate without fopaws being tossed as you. My generation was late to the fun lifestyle vs being to cool to branch out. This guy is awesome. Support the real. Not the cool flavors of the month. I was always confused why this didn’t happen outside of so cal n Santa Cruz. Hey skateboarding ur whole industry was started by surfers and financially backed by them too.
Remember this guy when he was in Pittsburgh area videos. I'm from Akron and his crew were friends with some people in the area. Then years later I saw the name in anti hero videos and ads and was like hell yeah. The funks were super sick wonder what's happened to them
Dudes like this are the heart of Skateboarding. I always feel bad for them though, they deserve more. Like Cole Wilson or guys that shred like legends but don't really get paid as well as they should.
Dude works for his family on top of being a pro skater, this mans board sales better go up after this video!
Not even half into it, I was like I’m getting this dudes board next
he works hard as shit lol. beautiful family and a great outlook on life. Can't go wrong with this dude

This hits home for me 3 young kids been skateboarding for almost 20 years. I'm 32 now.
Sick as fuck. I worked in the oil industry fresh out of high school and eventually became a welder. After 15 years still skating and hella work
Thank you so much for this piece. Learning about Austin in Thrasher an seeing his parts are a big reason I started skating again.
dude knows how to enjoy every moment something most people lack
damn that gap at the end is gnarly
Austin seems so cool! Like his attitude. Love how he’s promoting people to get out and work!!!
Best dude. It’s rare to get a Austin sighting in SF, but when you do it’s a good time

He’s so right about difficulty adjusting to kids. First year is brutal. Gets a lot easier once they are 18 mo-2yr
