    Here's my experience with metabolic damage. In November 2012, I went vegan and went on a high carb primarily raw diet of fruit, and I lost weight and then maintained at 70kg eating 3000+ calories a day. It even included giant meals of mashed potatoes upto 2kg in a meal! This was ofc very awesome not having to restrict calories!!! But later on I started to listen to the quacks who promoted restriction and fasting to "detox" or "cleanse" and so I began a journey that would cause me to become anorexic. It began with a few water fasts and eventually one that would be 31 days on water only. A few months after this, my body had gained so much weight, I think I had gained over 20kg above my previous set point of 70kg. This caused me to take drastic measures, I began calorie restricting and dieting below 2000 kcals. I eventually reached my original 70kg weight but at the cost of my health, sanity and energy levels. After I was fed up of feeling unwell I began eating unrestricted once again. This time I gained even more weight. I eventually did another fast in 2016 because I was still not completely convinced I was doing the right things. After finally returning to eating unlimited calories, after 2 years of not restricting, I started to lose weight without reducing calories. It really is true that our bodies only gain weight when we have starved below our set points. Metabolism will increase when we maintain our set point long term and eventually the set point will lower over time to reduce the weight gain. :) I am currently down 18 lbs whilst eating a calorie surplus. :)

      how did you deal with foodbellies and not having so much appetite in recovery? when i eat the amount of food my body wants i only eat about 1500 calories. i have to force myself to eat more but i feel as if my gut cannot deal with digesting the meals and it takes him so long to get on with it...

    Thank you. Im about 1.5 years into recovery after 20 years of anorexia/bulimia. I started healing when i became plant based due to poor health. Im up to 125lbs from 100 and I don't think its stopping. I eat pretty much 90% unprocessed. I dont need to gain more weight and i still have extreme hunger at night..actually i suffer from a nocturnal eating disorder as well. I wake up EVERY hour and eat since age 13 and it used to be sleep eating but now its i wake up and feel too stressed to go back to bed without eating and it kills my sleep cause 10 min of every night hour i spend eating. Please if you can help it would be immensely appreciated.😗

    Do you think one can lower their set point in hclf diet?

    • @TheVeganSolution
      @TheVeganSolution 5 лет назад +2

      You don't lower your set point. Your body's natural set point is the optimally healthy position it can be in. So that is the place you want to get to 😊

    • @TheVeganSolution
      @TheVeganSolution 5 лет назад +2

      no no. I think you're confused. there is only one natural set point for your body, which could range within 5kg I say.... after many years of consistency with a super healthy diet/lifestyle will you then reach (and easily maintain) your ideal bodys "set point" (body composition of fat/muscle/water, and therefore your overall body weight). 😎👍

      @@TheVeganSolution i'm 163 cm~ truly, if i eat that much i'll gain weight, a couple of years ago i went to a dietitian and she even told me to eat about 1600 calories, i think i was like 21 or so back then? i didn't move much

    • @TheVeganSolution
      @TheVeganSolution 5 лет назад +12

      OMG I'm 161cm, I'm smaller than you. I cannot believe a dietitian would tell you to eat so little. A small child should eat that much. If you gain weight eating only 2000 calories, then your body is not healthy, not functioning optimally. Therefore it's critical that you do eat a minimum of 2000 calories to heal. Your body needs to gain that bit of extra body fat/water weight to heal 🙏
