The high pitched singing part that Maria Franz sings is actually called Kulning which from ancient Scandinavian Nordic herding calls that women used to call in cows, sheep, and other livestock from distances. I love how Heilung incorporates history into their songs rather rituals that they perform at their concerts. I must say the best thing about Heilung is their live performances. You get to FEEL the drums and the atmosphere of the whole production. They are currently on tour and if you get a chance to see Heilung, GO SEE IT! :)
The rhythmic drumming and the instrumental and vocal drone effect are hypnotic ... ritualistic even... On Heilung ... Google: "The languages used are varied, with German, English, Gothic, Old High German, Icelandic, Latin, Old English, Proto-Norse, Proto-Germanic, and Viking age Old Norse being used. As instruments, items are used that may have been already available to humans in the Iron Age, such as drums, bones or spears." 😮.
I highly recommend their live performance for In Maidjan next. It is out of this world! And Maria's vocals in this one are 🔥She takes you on a journey through sound in this song.... and its a spiritual experience! Heilung | LIFA - In Maidjan LIVE ruclips.net/video/kmWTZ3KfnXE/видео.html
Cool that you found Heilung!! Me and my wife were at a heilung concert in Stockholm a while ago. It was amazing. And I really like that Maria plays tagelharpa in this video. I allso play one but I focus at scandinavian melodies.
This one should be a reminder to us modern people, that we all belong to the nature. We all lived as primitiv people with diffrent Gods, Nature Gods, people worshipped nature and its animals insects and so on. They ate animals, but they prayed for the animals soul. You can find it anywhere back in the history of us human beings.

They refer to their performances as "Rituals" because there's a very spiritual component to their music and performances. And the crowd is part of it... they vocalize and join in. Heilung is an experimental folk music band made up of members from Denmark, Norway, and Germany. Their music is based on texts and runic inscriptions from Germanic peoples of the Iron Age, and Viking Age. Heilung describe their music as "amplified history from early medieval northern Europe". Their music is usually about Germanic deities, the Jǫtnar, and valkyries. "Heilung" is a German noun meaning "healing" in English. Anoana is a song they wrote based on very ancient European coins that said Anoana on them, believed to be a word meaning "protector of the land." The song tells the story of a mystical child born on the night of an Eclipse. She grows up to be the Protector and eventually merges with her beast self. I highly recommend the music video... its absolutely gorgeous and tells the story of the song.
Ano Ana. Means mother earth. She was a goddess who becomes one with her spirit animal. Dhe was birn during a solar eclipse which endowed her with mystical powers.
Healing is a Nordic ritual folk band with members from Denmark, Germany and Norway. According to their own statements, their music is based on original artifacts and traditional texts from the Iron Age and the Viking Age. The instruments are usually objects that might have already been available to people in the Iron Age, such as drums, rattles, bones and spears. In addition, there are sound producers from the East that appear ancient, such as Indian ritual bells (ghanta) and the Indian fiddle Ravanahattha.
There's a Wikipedia page on Heilung at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heilung. In short, their music and lyrics are based on Iron Age and Viking Age themes and mythology. In other words, pre-Christian. It's a lot more primitive than what people normally think of when they think of European music, and it's part of the appeal.
not to be akward, apologfies but what happened ,where his funny sidekick. she always cracked me up the way they interacted. now i see this channel, hope all is well

Heilung doesn’t play concerts, they conduct ancient rituals set to primitive music. Performance art.☺️
Something like that.
Great one Brad! You should check out the official video for this song sometime. Heilung is the best of the best. You should check out more!
Primal!! Shows you music transcends language!!
It's difficult to calculate, whether music or language came first.
@@ScottCarr-gc7sd with this music you don't need to understand the words, the emotion shines thru

That was the best live show!
It was awe inspiring. Biggest ritual I've been to date.
This reminds me of finding strange bands playing in the old traveller fields at Glastonbury festival back in the 80's and 90s
Her instrument is basically something called a tagelharpa, it's from northern Europe. Only two to four strings.
next one Krigsgaldr live ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

Heilung does not have fans. They have only brothers and sisters. Welcome to the family🤗👍

Thank you, my friend, for continuing to bring us new sounds. 🙏🏼
Was that a concert or a play? Yes.
Maria Franz is an amazing singer. 👍
Thank you.
Do any Heilung fans know what string instrument is used in the song Nesso? 🙏🏻
Welcome back, I hoped you and your wife wouldn't of given up.
👌👌

This was a c9ncert, but it is a ritual.

Man, the live performance is good but, in order to feel the right emotion, you have to listen to the studio version
