I got mine off using a pass through socket. It took about 2 1/2hrs total just to get that one nut off and back on. I had to be in the most awkward position. I only had enough room to get 1 or 2 clicks from the wrench and my knuckle was raw from hitting stuff every turn. Everything else was cake! way better then taking it to the shop for $175 an hour 😮
Thanks for the tip on the 5/8 socket and 3/4" wrench. After getting it lose, I used a 1/4" drive 15 mm deep socket and a short stubby sprag clutch ratchet. Master Cylinder already disconnected so I could pull the brake booster forward. I am over 60 so after an hour on that *$&^@* nut, I finally had it out. Your "hack" was a huge help. Thank You!
Im over 60 myself n I been at that nut off n on for 2 days.....I got the last 3/8 of an inch to go im bout to take a sawsall to that last stud...but Ill lose my core charge one more try 2maro morning ......n I used the 5/8 socket n 3/4 wrench too great hack.....
99 GMC Sonoma is just like this too. Working on it today having the same problem with upper right bolt. Funny, as I was watching I was almost saying the same thing he was a split second before he did cuz I'm like literally living it today. And it's 108F. Anyway got the 5/8 spark plug socket gonna go give it a try.
Best "Hack" I have ever found on RUclips. Thank you, so much, for posting this hack video! My '03 S10 Power Brake Booster almost made me lose my religion.......then I found your video. 💯👏🇺🇸
I had a swivel adapter on the one under the brake pedal.. then the nut up in the top right, I just got my rachet handle in the top left position.. I could get a 1/4 turn at a time but none the less a pain... My advice is once you get them loose use a rattle gun and a 12-inch extension and on some of them a swivel. 👍.. .. the pain in the ass for me was the retainer clip on the pedal to the booster and the brake light .LOL...just thought I'd share my experience if it would help anybody out there.. good luck.. bout a 1 1/2 hr, procedure but will save $300 to $500 for sure
Im doing this right now n Im on that demon nut I had to take a break b4 I ran screamin into traffic.....Ive done it once b4 but put in a used brake booster n yup it was bad too...it taken over a year to get the nerve to do it again with a NEW brake booster this time......def exercise in patience......
You are correct. You would also have to drop the steering column since that is what is in the way. But the way I was showing is ALOT less work. Thanx for watching and responding.
On an 02 I was able to get it off with a short (maybe 4ins long) 15mm wench going from above the steering column. It still took awhile only able to turn it a few degrees at a time.
ha ha I like the way you put it. Do the hard one first....my booster just went out on my work truck 148,000 miles and I'm contemplating on doing it myself. I don't have much patiences anymore so I probably shouldn't attempt this kind of thing anymore. It'll probably cost me 450 to replace. The parts place said it's 120 for the part. Oh well....something you don't have to replace to often. Sad thing is the trucks a POS. ha ha

I've got this in the driveway. 1999 blazer. Thanks man. Great info! I've been looking as well and saw the welded socket but have no welder lol

I was unable to get a swivel off after a few turns. Only thing that worked for me was the box end. Glad you had a different result.
Thank you very much man, this absolutely helped me, just got it done. Man, having brakes is nice.
Thanks for the input. You just made my night. Worked fantastic!

Your awesome!
drop the column you can get it with box end
That works also. Just a little less work with the plug socket. Thank for the suggestion. Always more than one way to do it. I like hearing them all.
