Just look at the UK PEVs banned and a hell of a lot of fat people who drive all the time and one thing that is claimed is how these PEVs scare the old people. Coz this is how American democracy worked. Except someone from the leadership has really long view for 10 yrs+ but hey the city and county and state officials only covers 4 years so why these officials should spend tax money on sth that the taxpayer cannot see within 2 to 3 years. Same thing to Santa Monica banning rideshare scooter coz there is no enough infrastructure for those. You usually see 5 bikers a day now it's 100 scooters combining with tourists from all over the world knew nothing abt local rules and law, it is troublesome and confronted by local residents. The city officials are elected by local residents so they have to address this urgently until the state/federal kicks in saying no we want more green so you have to deal with it even without infrastructure improvement. I'm glad the pandemic hit the tourist coz 2019 was really chaotic for the ride share scooter riders in town. Everyone hates them.
