This song has some of the best production quality and mastering I've ever heard from Datsik. I love you Troy. You'll always be my all-time favorite producer. You should have your own genre. Called simply Datsik.
my friends saw datsik live when he came to winnipeg and said he's literally one of the most down to earth and genuine artists out there. unfortunately i wasn't 18 at the time, but i feel like he would be sooo cool to chill with. apparently my friends got pics with him and actually chilled with him
Ah yes, of course I have. But I've loved this song since he posted it on Soundcloud a few months back, so yeah. It's been a favourite of mine for quite some time. Every song on this album is legendary, just like "Vitamin D".
This return to his old-school style was exactly what Datsik needed. I've gotta be honest, I had kinda lost my faith in him after hearing Vitamin D. It was pretty underwhelming. But this... THIS is some good shit!
Brostep is just the name given to an artist who's fans base are the kind of kids who refer to each other as "bro" or "brah" like Skrilllex. I remember when Datsik wasn't popular and he had nuke em and havoc. They were the best.
I use the term brostep all the time so do my mates. There are a few only communities who do too. I don't disregard brostep as dubstep, it is dubstep too for sure, but brostep is just a way of many to describe a certain style of dubstep. It isn't necessarily derogatory. Brostep is an easy way for me to distinguish between proper dubstep being released today, like Biome, Kaiju, Thelem, Compa, Razor Rekta, Mala, J:Kenzo, Sleeper, Distance, etc... between the poppy stuff Calvertron, Datsik, etc...
What would this be called without the crazy, overwhelming dubstep drops? Datsik's beats are dope as all hell, but I'd like to find stuff like this that stays more 'true to the beat' and doesn't wander too far off into that overpowering dubstep territory. Anybody have any suggestions?
As opposed to what? The songs he put out like 4 years ago? For the most part, the EP is the style he had before Vitamin D. In fact, a large fraction of these songs are dubplates much older than Vitamin D that he just recently decided to finish.
this guy is exploring new sounds while at the same time keeping true to his original sound. ALOT of artists could learn a thing or two from this guy. too bad he ain't american haha
Like I said artists don't usually call themselves brostep, other artists might call some brostep, like in Distance's interview he used a Calvertron track to signify brostep. But brostep is just another way of saying post-2009 dubstep, filthy dubstep, mid-range dubstep, and so on, many ways to say it, some think brostep is derogatory but either way it's been around since late 2008, the term appeared in tour names, forums, communities, interviews, radio streams, etc.
It uses sounds that sound kind of glitchy, like when a cd or a video game skips. That's as much as I can say just by listening without doin an research. :)
too put simply, the tempo is faster for first. that snare hits hard with swingy bass as if it were being played on a drum set. the dubstep part is unique and just bouncy and glitchy with alot of pauses on certain hits. in my opinion alot more danceble too than normal dubstep
I think he was using the term only as as exclusive word, not an insulting word. Only glitchhop means includes nothing that is not glitchhop. No judgement was made on glitchhop itself. :)
Glitch Hop is a very significant genre that is very easily distinguishable from other genres, but I agree that all these tiny subgenres get really annoying. It's at its worst when people argue that Skrillex isn't dubstep.
Artists don't call themselves brostep, not that I know of. Brostep is just a term for mid-range excessive dubstep. People categorize Datsik, Flux Pavillion, Calvertron, Modestep, Zomboy that type of filthy vibe as brostep but it's just dubstep really, not a new genre or anything just different style than traditional dubstep (Mala, Kode9, Hatcha, Distance, Cyrus, etc). Some just call it post-2009 dubstep, or mid-range dubstep, filthy dubstep, in the end brostep is just dubstep.
This used to be one of my favourite songs as a small kid. How do I still remember this, and why is it so nostalgic?
because you were a small kid (back in 2013 xd)
Fact's we are still kid's

Keeping in line with a genre of various artists is creative and the moment begins with the first battle of techniques. Generating from the Northwest.

So TRUUUE! he needs more popularity.
@lynksOFFICIAL if you heard this song before it was put in this EP he said in the description on soundcloud 100BPM if I remember correctly.

So much truth...
Glitch Hop is a very significant genre that is very easily distinguishable from other genres, but I agree that all these tiny subgenres get really annoying. It's at its worst when people argue that Skrillex isn't dubstep.
This song goes harder than a cement brick to the face
He went all Koan in this
Tell me how that works out.
