My mother is dying as I type this, and listening to this song brought my grief to the fore. I’ve always loved this song, but now I’m just sitting here sobbing all over the keyboard. She went downhill so fast, and it’s hitting me so hard all at once. Dammit, I wish the dementia hadn’t taken her mind before the cancer snuck up on us out of nowhere so I could talk with her just once more! All I can do is wish her spirit safe passage and hope she passes sooner rather than later so she’s not suffering at the end. And I don’t care what Dad says, I am playing this song at her memorial! I love you, Mama!!!! Update: Mom died at midnight on January 22, 2023. She crossed over surrounded by her family in the peace and comfort of the hospice house she’d been transferred to just Saturday afternoon. Her life was long and full, and fortunately she was only in severely declining health for a few days. She left us with grace, dignity, and numerous lessons for life, and like Big Mama in _Soul Food,_ she left love in her footprints. We’ll always miss her, but we knew her time was coming so our pain is eased having known in advance and being able to prepare. Fly free, Mom. Fly free.
I can feel you on all levels. I’m the 11th of 15 children and it was so very hard watching my mom lying waiting to die as the cancer took her on out. The memories of her will forever remain in my heart.

Sadly, I never had a mom. I mean, I did but she was very abusive, and I live my life scared of everyone close to me. So, i don't have anyone close to me. I listen to this song to remind me that I have lived life without a mother and never had that security blanket. It hurts to hear it, but it is also reminding me of my own personal strength and that I need to always step up my game for my kids and be this for them.

I lost my mom to Covid in October of this year. I used to play this song for her on Mother’s Day but the day she passed in the hospital we played it as she was taking her last breath. I will never forget that day… or the wonderful memories I have of my beautiful mom. Even though my heart is broken, there isn’t a day I don’t think about her. I lost my mom to Cáncer January 27th 2023 and none of us had a clue she had cancer. I had severe death anxiety in the past, worrying about the day when my mom dies (my mom's 67 now but still looks young). I told her about it and she prayed for me, and she also told me not to worry because everyone dies in the end. Since then, I kept on telling her how much I love her. Feels good how your mom feels that she's loved while she's still around. People, don't be shy and never stop telling your parents how much you love them!

Ever since i was a little girl, I'd cry listening to this song. My biological mother never really knew what it meant to be a mother. She never taught me values, other things a mother should teach and she was very neglectful. When i was 10 yrs old, my father married his 2nd ex wife who was my stepmom. Over time she started becoming my mom. She taught my siblings and i things we didn't know. She was the first person my sister and i opened up to about se*ual ab*se we went through because she taught us what good and bad touch was. I was 10 when i should've learned when i was real little. She got us all into family routines like family game nights and such. When i was in a bad place after she left my dad, i was always able to call her. I had gone through placements and foster care and i'd always call her when i needed strength. This year will be 23yrs she became my mom. So next year summer 2024 when i get married, i am dancing with her to this song because she is my mama and i absolutely love her. Not everyone gets as lucky to have a stepparent who truly loves them as their own and can be exactly what they need in their life but i am eternally grateful that god sent her to me. Without her, i don't know how my life would've turned out if i didn't have her to turn to when i needed her

My grandmother was the glue to our family too. After she passed the holidays were all different as everyone went their own way. We used to all cram in her small apartment every holiday. I miss those simple days.

I love my one and only son so much! He is my pride and joy. I prayed for a boy when I found out I was pregnant with him. I'm pregnant with my 2nd child now, a baby girl, and even though I only wanted boys, one older lady told me daughters will take care of you when you are old. So both sons and daughters are blessings! 😁 After all, I am my mom's only daughter and we are like best friends.

I lost my mom to Cáncer January 27th 2023 and none of us had a clue she had cancer. She was diagnosed at the hospital when she arrived and one month later she died at the hospital and I also watched her take her last breath and I broke down crying in her chest as tears fell on her chest 😢 she will forever be in my heart ❤️

I had severe death anxiety in the past, worrying about the day when my mom dies (my mom's 67 now but still looks young). I told her about it and she prayed for me, and she also told me not to worry because everyone dies in the end. Since then, I kept on telling her how much I love her. Feels good how your mom feels that she's loved while she's still around. People, don't be shy and never stop telling your parents how much you love them!
I always think that too. I always wonder that how am I going to live without my parents even I am in my 30s now. Then this fateful day happened on our family. We've lost my mom last 090821. It's really hard to accept that she left us in a matter of week. The most painful part was we were never given the chance to be with her on her last days and minutes in this world. I don't ever think I'll move on from this pain but rather I am going to live this pain for the rest of my life. You are so lucky to have your mom with till now. Keep showing how much you love her.

Ever since i was a little girl, I'd cry listening to this song. My biological mother never really knew what it meant to be a mother. She never taught me values, other things a mother should teach and she was very neglectful. When i was 10 yrs old, my father married his 2nd ex wife who was my stepmom. Over time she started becoming my mom. She taught my siblings and i things we didn't know. She was the first person my sister and i opened up to about se*ual ab*se we went through because she taught us what good and bad touch was. I was 10 when i should've learned when i was real little. She got us all into family routines like family game nights and such. When i was in a bad place after she left my dad, i was always able to call her. I had gone through placements and foster care and i'd always call her when i needed strength. This year will be 23yrs she became my mom. So next year summer 2024 when i get married, i am dancing with her to this song because she is my mama and i absolutely love her. Not everyone gets as lucky to have a stepparent who truly loves them as their own and can be exactly what they need in their life but i am eternally grateful that god sent her to me. Without her, i don't know how my life would've turned out if i didn't have her to turn to when i needed her

I love my one and only son so much! He is my pride and joy. I prayed for a boy when I found out I was pregnant with him.
I'm pregnant with my 2nd child now, a baby girl, and even though I only wanted boys, one older lady told me daughters will take care of you when you are old.
So both sons and daughters are blessings! 😁
