He said LETHALLY, aka, kill the stormtrooper. Stormtroopers shot by rebels with pistols like in Rebels are shown to be moving when they're downed, he's talking about rebel rifles that can kill a stormtrooper.

You're one of five Storntroopers on a planet on the Outer Rim. If someone wants to carry that E-11 blaster, he very well can as long as he isn't killing anyone lol.
To clarify, the dueling lightsabers mentioned aren't normal lightsabers: they are very low quality, to the point that non-Force sensitives can actually make them, and as such are only about as deadly as a regular vibrosword. The official name for such a lightsaber is "lightfoil".

That is kind of similar to what we have in real life and there are those who like to make it worse with the incident that happened today, and the incident in Las Vegas.
Funny thing this is actually the reverse of our own history. Towns like Deadwood tombstone and Carson City had some of the strictest gun control in the days that they were boomtowns. We're not saying you can't own a gun we're not saying you can't carry a gun just don't bring your guns to town. Virgil Earp
Most blasters couldn’t penetrate their armor. The armor would help to absorb the energy, making the laser non lethal, but it would still knock them out. That’s why Ewoks and Chirrut are so effective against them, because sticks and stones would cause their fragile organic bodies to slosh around inside the armor, breaking bones and rupturing organs. Fun stuff!
Stormtrooper armor as actually rather powerful: the Majority of blasters would simply have the heat from the shot spread out via the armor. As a result, Stormtroopers would usually only be knocked out- slightly wounded at most- by the majority of blasters. So while they may be more likely to be incapacitated, as their armor doesn't totally block the shot, they were much more likely to surrvive.
"Typically authoritarian regimes go out of their way to disarm their citizens and make it illegal to hold any firearms as a way to make sure a dissatisfied populace can't rebel" People should take more notice of just how important this really is.
+Robert Mackrell well, here's what I know, and I think many other people know as well: the main infantry weapons of World War 2 were bolt action or semi-automatic rifles and submachine guns. Something like an assault rifle was unheard of (aside from earlier weapons being tried out, like the Russian-made Fedorov Avtomat back in 1915, but there's a debate over whether it should be classified as a light machine gun or a predecessor to the assault rifle, or even a true assault rifle in its own right). So, think of what an assault rifle would do for logistics and warfare on the German side. With such a weapon, you had range and automatic fire, in short, the scaled-down power of the bulky machine gun wrapped up into the size of a typical rifle. A soldier could switch to semi-auto to fire at more distant enemies or switch to fully-auto to clear out buildings or fight at mid-range. It's a logistical dream, one that many nations have adapted to today by producing their own assault rifles. Such a thing means the soldier would no longer need to carry two guns for separate purposes, but would have the same power in one weapon. To clarify on what that power is, a submachine gun fires pistol ammunition, giving it great power up close but less and less the further the target is, as the rounds simply can't reach the same ranges as a rifle can. Bolt-action rifles fire much larger rounds that can go further, but lack the quick rate of fire of a submachine gun, making it unsuitable to use in close quarters. Semi-automatic rifles somewhat remedied this problem, but mainly upped the amount of rounds a soldier could put downrange, and were still highly unsuitable for CQB operations. With an assault rifle, you get both in one gun, with the cost of a slightly downsized cartridge to make automatic fire easier to handle. If you don't think the STG in greater numbers among the German Army would help at a time where most nation's main battle rifle was the same bolt-action rifle they'd used in the previous world war (semi-automatics were around since before the Great War, but were generally viewed as being unstable, and it was thought that soldiers would simply fire off all their ammunition instead of complying with the protocol of volley fire. This is why the British army had concerns with adopting the Lee-Metford over the breech-loading Martini-Henry, they were worried that the men would panic and fire all their rounds, and they'd lose control over the army), then you sir have no place telling me that it wouldn't do anything to lead to the dreaded German victory. It took over half of the world to stop them as it is, just one tiny nation in Europe, with his Italian meat shield and his Japanese friends in the east. And if you think I'm advocating for the Nazis, know that I'm not. It's simply a speculative situation. There usually exists all kinds of speculative situations in which the loser of a war could have won had he done something different. As for the illegality of the cartridge, Hitler himself banned them from use, stating personal distaste with the use of Kurz ammunition. And as for the AK-47, perhaps you should read my source yourself. infogalactic.com/info/StG_44 Look at the history section for the effectiveness of the rifle and the ban on Kurz ammunition, and look at the legacy section to see how it influenced Mikhail Kalashnikov's design.
+Robert Mackrell and so you think he solely based it upon the M1? Did you not read what elements of the STG he incorporated? Most notably, one influence was the Kurz round itself, it being the basis for the 7.62x39mm used for the AK. Seeing as that round was only used for the STG, I'd say that's an influence. And I'm the only one who's listed a source so far, I have yet to see you list one yourself.
+Robert Mackrell I'd think the fact that the early German assault rifle platforms (basically the STG with a different name, and with a few changes in design) were mainly used for the Eastern Front would mean some would have fallen in Russian hands, being captured from dead Germans. Plus, just because the initial designs began in 1941 doesn't mean the intermediate cartridge couldn't be introduced later. Also, earlier designs, like the Fedorov Avtomat, didn't use intermediate cartridges. The Russian Fedorov used 7.62x54mmR, the same ammunition used by the Mosin Nagant. The American BAR used the same 30.06 as the Garand and Springfield. The French Chauchat used 8mm Lebel. In each of these, the recoil was far greater than that of a true assault rifle, despite being of a similar size to be used as one. The STG was the first true assault rifle, rather than an LMG that was more rifle-shaped and could be carried and operated by a single soldier. That intermediate cartridge makes all the difference, with recoil lessened so it could be fired much like an SMG, but with more power and range. The lessened recoil provides more accuracy. And that cartridge was, at the time, the Kurz round. There wasn't really anything else to use other than that, and I think the number of captured STGs used by the Red Army would certainly allow at least a few of the cartridges to be studied and a new intermediate cartridge be produced from the research.
If you ask me, I think America is a bit more lenient in most places in the country compared to the Empire, as even in many highly urban areas here in the United States you can get a gun as easily as a more rural area. However, they are very similar as in poorer and more rural regions of the galaxy tend to have more lenient regulations, just like poorer and more rural states in the U.S tend to have more lenient gun laws. And the richer and more urbanized you go, the stricter the laws are. Which makes sense for a galaxy as vast as Star Wars, less so here in the United States.
They don't because they don't have a need for one. It's a large ass galaxy that varies drastically from planet to planet, system to system, even more so than regions of countries in our own world. No matter what you do, people will still get their hands on weapons because a government on a galactic scale simply doesn't have the power to exert its laws onto literally every part of the Galaxy, hell there's large swaths of the galaxy which are unexplored. That's different than our own world.

Lando was the administrator there and could enforce any rules he wanted till empirial troops went there and started putting pressure on him. But I am reminded of things said in episodes 4 -6 (how quaint I know) that kind of gives me the impression that the empire controlled a lot of star systems but had agreements with others that could enforce their own laws governing the ownership of blasters. Han Solo clearly had one and carried it openly at two settlements at least that I am aware of. Just some food for thought. Btw, when new people take over the star wars franchise, uh, they would do good to do their homework (including that math assignment) for continuityy purposes so not to contradict anything yoda, obi wan or Wedge said in the originals. Otherwise, why in tarnation didnt they just come up with their own sci-fi saga, instead of ruining something that gave me great pleasure as a kid. *shakes my head in disbelief and walks away
The aurebesh reads "Imperial peace kheeping certificate" instead of Imperial peace keeping certificate." They use the oh symbol instead of the k symbol.
Short answer; probably not, but you can't stop people from trying to get around injustice, especially when they are as spread out and distracted by the rebellion as they are.
Ammo would be expensive, bulky, unconcealed and heavy. People aren't gonna walk around with heavy slug throwers and 10 pounds of ammunition. Not only is it ineffective for concealed use but also extremely attention grabbing and can instantly expose you as suspicious and untrustworthy by being armed with something like that.
Sounds to me like local governments had much more say than Imperial authorities. Almost like how very few weapons are outlawed or restricted by the US federal government (see Class 3 weapons) but individual states, counties, or municipalities could impose stricter gun control measures should they so choose... While not ideal IMO sounds pretty good to me.

And that cartridge was, at the time, the Kurz round. There wasn't really anything else to use other than that, and I think the number of captured STGs used by the Red Army would certainly allow at least a few of the cartridges to be studied and a new intermediate cartridge be produced from the research.
Gun Control: In Space!
And this is the empire that spent years building 2 giant iron moons dedicated to destroying planets.
...Thanks for this... -Totally explains why some characters in SW, always had Small arms like Padme, Gen. Calrissian (Lando), Gideon, etc...
So basically the Empire was kind of like America when it came to blasters. No military grade weapons, but normal weapons were legal.
I like that 1984 refereance at the start
I'm a proud member of the NRA National Raygun Association.
Galactic Blaster Association - GBA (heh)
I HAVE A RIGHT TO MY HEAVY REPEATER, IT'S FOR HUNTING!
No, it's for opposing the government. Nobody ever said heavy weapons are for hunting, in SW or real life.
A good guy with a blaster is the best defense against a bad guy with a blaster.
This is what happens when you let your govt take away your "dangerous assault weapons"
"You would need a death star in order to defeat the empire"
Emperor palpatine speaking on blaster rights and well regulated militias.
Weapons are a part of my religion.
Sounds kind of like real life.
"This is the rebellion"
Ah, the light foil. Almost like a light saber
You make the best star wars videos: awesome
The aurebesh reads "Imperial peace kheeping certificate" instead of Imperial peace keeping certificate." They use the oh symbol instead of the k symbol.
What happened to admiral ackbar?
GEORGE barber Got stuck in a Trap.
He could save others, but not himself.
He became a Space Muslim and changed his name Allahu and then blew himself up.
GEORGE barber "What happened to Admiral Ackbar?"
*Oh, he's at the snackbar!*
He could save others from traps but not himself *IRONIC* (and admiral ackbar from ep7 isn't admiral ackbar, ep7 isn't real canon)
anti brony master race oops i forgot
Do a republic blaster one
perfect video, specially the intro
Do toy blasters require an orange-colored tip? Asking for a droid friend.
I’m still not convinced that the Imperials are the bad guys.
It's official, literally any regime is better than living in California.
specially when you have cities like Compton (great rappers come from there tho)
You don't like it, go the Russia.
It's perfectly fine in California. If rather live here then some shitty rural community in the mid west.
Tactical Strategist i live in California, and it fucking sucks...
sounds like a citizen of Modesto to me
Check with your local Imperial Ordinances coinciding with your Imperial issued Concealed Blaster Permit, your mileage may vary.
Astounding how the Empire has such complex laws over gun or should I say blaster control
Evil or not they are serious about Order
In the Star Wars universe, are there any swords besides lightsabers?
IBA-Intergalactic blaster association
So what about ballistic weapons? Were they banned in some places of the empire too?
Short answer; probably not, but you can't stop people from trying to get around injustice, especially when they are as spread out and distracted by the rebellion as they are.
Use a slug thrower. They seem to be unregulated and can be even more lethal then blasters under certain circumstances.
Blasters should only have 10 shot capacitors. If you can’t hit anything in 10 shots you should enlist as a stormtrooper.
So does Star Wars have lore for everything? If so what’s the lore for blue milk?
Space cows, aka nerfs.
As some one who owns two blaster i hate the laws they put they need to make it easier to get a blaster regardless the use of the blaster
Nice 1984 art good book as well
